ABSTRACT
This text aims to criticise a few beliefs upheld in Chile regarding ethnography, proposing
instead an outline of an anthropological notion of ethnography, which draws on the contributions
to this special issue entitled Ethnographies of control. This outline considers the emergence of an
ecological reflection that should be based on developing a duality critical to every ethnographic
approach, set up by the relation between a personal disposition and an intersubjective situation.
