10 Quick Tips to Learn English
Created: Tuesday, 11 November 2014 11:44 | Published: Sunday, 07 December 2014 15:08 | Written by Chander Madan | Print | Email
Fluent verbal English has become a necessity in todays competitive times. The way you carry a conversation, rates your overall personality. If you speak confidently
with fluency, you are a winner, otherwise you dont get a second chance to prove your mettle.
Let us look at the ten tips for quickly learning English, so that you never lose a chance.

1. First thing when you wake up, catch hold of the newspaper and read it front and back. It doesnt matter, which paper you subscribe to. But, make sure you read it
from first page to last, reading all the topics that interests you. Dont get bored after enthusiastically starting the activity, continue it for at least a couple of months.
2. The next thing you do is to get yourself a pocket dictionary. Once you read the newspaper, try to jot down the words you havent heard of. Then, look up for these
words and note down their meaning. Maintain a diary to revise the new words learnt every day.
3. Now, you have picked up new words, why not use them in your conversation. For instance, you learnt the word shenanigans. Now, make a sentence using that
word and try to use it in your conversations as well.

4. Form your study group with the people you are comfortable with. I am sure you will be knowing friends who are also struggling to learn the language. Meet the
study group once a week and discuss about the new phrases, words or idioms learned over the course of the week.
5. Talk strictly in English within your circle. You can talk in fluent English with your family, friends and study group. Practice, practice , and then practice some more.
6. Never feel embarrassed about making mistakes. While trying to learn English, you may encounter situations where you fall short of words or use a wrong word.
Dont feel flushed if you commit a mistake. After all, it's human to make mistakes.

7. Set goals. Write down, how you plan to study English, how will you study, for how long do you plan to do self-study and how will you check whether the goal is met
or not. Reward yourself for every achievement. For instance, I spoke to a customer support representative in English while lodging a complaint for bad internet
connection. This is certainly an achievement, give yourself a pat on your back.
8. Listen to others while they are speaking English. This would help you frame sentences in a better manner. Best is to watch an English series on Television or a movie
once in a while. Read the subtitles and see how the actor is delivering his/her lines in English. Make your notes.
9. Keep it simple. Many individuals who are in the process to improve spoken English cross the boundary and try to speak a flowery language. It is best to stick to
basic spoken English to minimize your chances of errors.
10. Lastly, have fun. Nobody is going to point a gun at your temple if you speak wrong English. The goal is to have fun in what you are doing. Therefore, learn with fun
and if possible join an online spoken English class to add to the fun and learning factor. Happy English speaking to all you guys.
