1. There are two semester in one calendar year i.e Spring and Autumn (Fall).
2. Duration of each semester is 18 weeks.
3. Mid-term is conducted in 9th week and final exams are conducted in 18th week of each calendar
year.
4. Students with less than 75% of attendance will not b allowed to sit in the final exams.
5. CGPA required for qualifying bachelor degree is 2.0 in relative marking system.
6. Students (bachelor level) who got D grade in any subject will be allowed to improve the same, in
which maximum B grade will be awarded.

b. The dean upon receipt of recommendations from the concerned DBS shall finalize all cases as
soon as possible, but not later than the first two weeks of next semester, and
c. The Dean shall consider each case individually and take one of the following actions as per
latest policies of the university, namely:i.

2. The warning and probation orders will be issued by Deputy Controller of Examination. One copy
of the order is placed in the students file for record and one copy each is sent to the
parent/guardian and students tutor.

b. Policy: A student is placed on warning under any of the following conditions as per latest
policies of the university:i.
First Sem GPA is equal to or more than 1.90 but less than 2.00:

Second semester onwards. Sem GPA is less than 2.00, and the student does not qualify
for probation and withdrawal.

Probation
a. Definition: - A student is said to be on probation if he is deficient in academic standards to the
extent that he is likely to be withdrawn and is allowed to be continue studies for one or two
semester.
b. Policy:- A students is placed on academic probation under any of the following conditions if:i.

Cum GPA at the end of second semester is equal to or more than 1.50 but less than
2.00 and he does not qualify for withdrawal; or
iii.
Third semester onwards, Cum GPA is less than 2.00; and he does not qualify for
withdrawal
Student on probation would not be allowed to register for more than 16 credit hours.

Termination
a. Definition: - termination means that a student is considered unsuitable for further studies at
FUUAST and is withdrawn from the program.
b. Policy: - A student is recommended for termination as per latest policies of the University by
the departmental Board of studies for Approval by competent authority subject to any of the
condition listed below, namely: i.

If the student secures a minimum Sem GPA of 1.00 or less in the first semester;
iv.
If the student secures a Cum GPA of 1.5 or less at end of first two semester;
v.
Repetition of Courses:In order to ensure that a student clears all prescribed courses and obtains a minimum cum GPA of 2.0
which is a mandatory requirement to earn a FUUAST degree. A student may repeat a course under two
circumstance i.e. to clear and F Grade or to improve his Cum GPA. The student shall be required to
complete all formalities applicable to repetition of courses
i.e. Mid
assignment, quizzes etc, and End Semester Examination. The student transcript shall show both old grade
and new earned grade but the Cum GPA shall be based on new earned grade. The student shall also have
to pay the prescribed tuition fee for repeated course. Maximum achievable grade in this case is B. Student
who repeats a subject shall not be eligible for top student honors/awards even if he improve it and comes
in that bracket after repeating it. The details of the circumstances under which a student may repeat a
course are: -

Clearance of F Grade: For a failed course which is not a prerequisite for a subsequent
course in the following semester, student may register for a repetition of the course
whenever offered subject to the availability of necessary resources/Faculty.

D in order to improve his Cum GPA. Procedure for repeating a course shall be as under,
namely:a. The candidate shall apply to the HOD for permission to repeat a course. The case shall
be presented before the DBS which may permit a student to repeat a course whenever
offered subject to the availability of necessary recourses/Faculty ;
b. The student while repeating the course shall have to undergo all tests, quizzes,
sessionals and final exam ; and
c. A student shall be allowed to repeat maximum of five courses during his entire
program apart from clearance of F grade through repetition, if any, the improvement
may include maximum of two C grades.
