ACET - Adaptable Communication

Engine Operator Terminals
An ACE public address and alarm system is accessed to facilitate live
speech address and message / alarm control by man-machine
interfaces called ACET.

The ACET comprises of push button / keypad input to route voice

and (in some cases) alarm tone signals, plus LED status
indications. The unit is fitted with a hyper cardiod microphone
which provides excellent noise rejection and smooth frequency
response. ACET are usually phantom powered from the host ACE
equipment however where cable capacity is limited or distance
precludes this the unit can be locally powered from a secure 24V
D.C. source.
A range of ACET are available, further data regarding specific
types are available.

ACET specification
ACET600 is duplicated A/B intrinsically safe zone 1 certified and
is incorporated in the ACETS01 range of hazardous area access
unit. ACET600 operates in conjunction with ACE/405/HUB
audio hub which must be fitted with a SIM card type
ACET/405/01/SIM to support this electronics. ACET600 is
ACE4, 16, 100 compatible.
The ACET600 operates over a wide range of instrumentation
cable types. Up to 1000 metres cable length two twisted pairs
with overall screen are required minimum cross sectional area /
conductor 0.75mm2.
ACET601 Duplicated A/B intrinsically safe module to plug in to
an ACET/18/NK access unit membrane. The ACET601 operates
over a wide range of instrumentation cable types. Up to 200
metres cable length two twisted pairs with overall screen are
required, minimum cross sectional area 0.75mm2 / conductor.
Over a 200 metres cable length and maximum of 1000 metres,
two individually screened cable pairs minimum cross sectional
area 1.5mm2 / conductor are required. ACET601 is ACE16, 100
compatible.
ACET602 Single safe area ACE100 only compatible module to
plug onto an ACET4, ACET/18/NK, ACET32, ACET64. The
ACET602 data and audio circuit transportation has been tested

Note that the ACET602 consumes approximately 400 mA

maximum and therefore D.C. supply volt drop shall be taken into
consideration if energising the ACET from the host equipment.
Minimum working voltage is 20V D.C., launch voltage is nominal
24V D.C. unregulated. All cables shall be twisted pairs i.e. a twist
at least every 100mm along the entire length of the cable.

ACET603 Single safe area ACE4/16 compatible module to plug
in to an ACET4, ACET/18/NK, ACET32 membrane. The
ACET603 operates over a wide range of telephony /
instrumentation cable types, up to 1000 metres cable length
with up to 20 pairs (depending on application) with overall screen
minimum cross sectional area 0.5mm2 / conductor with
1.5mm2 required for power supply conductors (one pair) for
cable lengths exceeding 200 metres.
All ACET series pre-amplifiers are fitted with limiting for maximum
speech intelligibility and incorporate DTMF surveillance
generator which facilitates supervision of critical path from ACET
to host equipment node. ACET600, 601 also have an integral
single note emergency pre-announcement chime to meet
NORSOK requirements.

ACETS01
This is Zone 1 hazardous certified
and incorporates ACET600 preamplifier hardware. The unit is
supplied with fully duplicated A/B
circuitry as standard. See PM0012

ACET4
This is a safe area desk mount unit which
is capable of supporting a single
ACET602 (ACE100) or ACET603
(ACE4/16) pre-amplifier.

ACET64

ACET/18/NK

This is a safe area desk mount unit

which is capable of supporting
ACET602 pre-amplifier hardware. For
dual A/B operation four ACET602 preamplifiers are required.

This can be used in either Safe or Zone 1

Hazardous Area 19 inch rack/console
execution.
For Safe Area illustrated ACET602

For Hazardous ACET601 (ACE100 or
ACE16) pre-amplifier specified.
For dual A/B operation fit two ACET602 or
603 pre-amplifiers, Hazardous area
ACET601 pre-amplifier is equipped for dual

ACET32
This is a safe area desk mount unit which is
capable of supporting single ACET602 (ACE100)
or ACET603 (ACE16) pre-amplifier. See PM0045
