Morning programme (starts at 1030)
The Schumanns Eck (1h) The Schumanns Eck is a monument dedicated to the troops that lived here in a real hell in December 44. The memorial as well as the memorial trail leads along the foxholes in the woods around the Schumanns Eck where numerous American and German soldiers fought and died during the battle of the Bulge.
The NUTS cave and the Bastogne barracks (1h30)
We then move to the "Bastogne Barracks" were McAuliffe's HQ had been established during the siege of Bastogne. It is here that he pronounced his famous "NUTS" in reply to the German offer to surrender, The "Bastogne Barracks also shelters an exhibition of WWII vehicles.

Afternoon programme (starts at 1430)
The Bastogne War Museum (2h) This recent museum offers a modern memorial centre and interactive context of the causes, events and consequences of the Second World War through the prism of the Battle of the Bulge. OR The visit to the museum can be replaced by a walk into the woods to see the remaining foxholes overlooking Foy (+ the monument commemorating the Easy Company (Band of Brothers), to discover a farmhouse showing some bullets holes from the battle and to go to Houffalize where Patton 3rd Army linked up with the 1st Army.
The Mardasson (30 min)
The nearby Mardasson Memorial honours the memory of the 76,890 American soldiers who were wounded or killed during the Battle of the Bulge.
The Bois Jacques (30 min)
To end the day, we move to the village of Foy. At the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge, the village of Foy was occupied by German Forces. The American 101st Airborne Division held the Bois Jacques just outside of town. After being relieved by Gen Patton's Third Army, the 101st retook the town of Foy. The assault, spearheaded by Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR, was depicted in the mini-series Band of Brothers.

(Attack on the Northern Shoulder) Bastogne (departure at 0830) Hollerath (GE) Rocherath (BE) Baugnez (BE) La Gleize (BE) Clermont (BE) Brussels (back at 2000) Morning programme (starts at 1000) The Siegfried Line (45 min) The village of Hollerath is known as Purple Heart Corner. This is the northernmost part of the German attack. Anti-tank defences are still visible and in perfect state. These defences are known to the Allies as the Siegfried Line.
The monuments Battle Babies and Indian Head (45 min)
The village of Rocherath was badly damaged during the Battle of the Bulge. Two monuments have been erected and are dedicated to the 99th Inf. Div. (Battle Babies) and 2nd Inf. Div. (Indian Head). Foxholes and dugouts used at different times by both the Americans and Germans can be seen in the surrounding woods.

The massacre of Baugnez (45 min) The site of Malmedy (or Baugnez) commemorates the massacre of 84 American prisoners of war by their German captors. This massacre is a war crime. It was committed on December 17, 1944, by members of Kampfgruppe Peiper (part of the 1st SS Panzer Division).
The King Tiger tank of la Gleize (45 min)
La Gleize is our next objective. It is the place where the advance of Kampfgruppe Peiper was halted. A German Tiger II tank in perfect condition is at the entrance of the December44 museum.
The cemetery of Henrichapelle and the marvellous museum of
Clermont (2h) The journey ends by a visit of the cemetery of Henrichapelle followed by a visit of the museum of Clermont. This museum will lead you through an unbelievable collection of personal items from American soldiers and Belgian locals from just prior to the battle of the bulge (and other WWII items). 110 American soldiers came and stayed there for about 3 weeks during 1944. They left behind a number of personal items as they headed off to the battle of the bulge, many of whom never returned to reclaim their items.
