DO TO TOUCH PEOPLE WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST?”

God has called all of His children to serve Him. Often we may feel inadequate or
unworthy of the tasks He has set before us. But we need never fear, for He has
promised to always be with us and supply us with everything we need to
accomplish His will.
10
EXODUS 4:10-16 Moses said to the LORD, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent,
neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.”
11
The LORD said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who
gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? 12Now go; I will help you speak and will
teach you what to say.” 13But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”
14
Then the LORD’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite?
I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees
you. 15You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach
you what to do. 16He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if
you were God to him.
1
JOSHUA 1:1-9 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun,
2
Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the
Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. 3I will give you every place where
you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from
the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5No one will
be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will
never leave you nor forsake you. 6Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people
to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. 7“Be strong and very courageous. Be
careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that
you may be successful wherever you go. 8Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it
day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and
successful. 9Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

JEREMIAH 1:4-10 4The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” 6“Ah, Sovereign
LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” 7But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I
am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8Do not be
afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD. 9Then the LORD reached out
his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10See, today I
appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and
to plant.”
16
JOHN 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go
and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
47
ACTS 13:47-48 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the
Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” 48When the Gentiles heard this,
they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

ACTS 26:16-18 ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant
and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. 17I will rescue you from your own people
and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18to open their eyes and turn them from darkness
to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place
among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

God is always near His people and hears their prayers. Not only that, but He also
changes His actions based on the pleas of His children. He has also promised to be
found when we seek Him with a true and pure heart.
7
DEUT. 4:7 What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is
near us whenever we pray to him?
29
DEUT. 4:29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all
your heart and with all your soul.

1 KINGS 8:52 “May your eyes be open to your servant’s plea and to the plea of your people Israel, and
may you listen to them whenever they cry out to you.

2 CHRON. 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my
face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will
heal their land.

PSALM 5:1-2 Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament. 2Hear my cry for help, my King and my
God, for to you I pray.
10
PSALM 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
1
PSALM 34:1-5 I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. 2I will glory in the
LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. 3Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. 4I
sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 5Those who look to him are
radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
1
PSALM 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
8
PSALM 86:8-13 Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. 9All the
nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. 10For
you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. 11Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on
your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. 12I will praise you, Lord my
God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. 13For great is your love toward me; you have
delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.

JEREMIAH 29:11-13 11For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to

JEREMIAH 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’

LAM. 3:25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;

MATTHEW 6:6-8 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is
unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not
keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do
not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

MATTHEW 7:7-11 7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be
opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; those who seek find; and to those who knock,
the door will be opened. 9“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10Or if he
asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to
your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

MATTHEW 18:19 19“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will
be done for you by my Father in heaven.
22
MATTHEW 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
22
MARK 11:22-24 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23“Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, ‘Go,
throw yourself into the sea,’ and do not doubt in your heart but believe that what you say will happen, it
will be done for you. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have
received it, and it will be yours.
16
JOHN 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear
fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.
13
JOHN 14:13-14 I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

PHILIPPIANS 4:4-7 4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all.
The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
16
1 THESS. 5:16-17 Rejoice always, 17pray continually.

HEBREWS 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help us in our time of need.
8
JAMES 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify
your hearts, you double-minded.
16
JAMES 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be
healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
14
1 JOHN 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to
his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what
we asked of him.

It is God’s earnest desire to have all people – of every tongue and nation – come to
faith. That is why sharing the Good News of forgiveness, life, and salvation
through faith in God’s promised Messiah, Jesus Christ, is so essential to
everything we say and do.
27
PSALM 22:27 All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the
nations will bow down before him.
1
PSALM 96:1-6 Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth. 2Sing to the LORD, praise his
name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous
deeds among all peoples. 4For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all
gods. 5For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. 6Splendor and
majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

PSALM 102:15-22 15The nations will fear the name of the LORD, all the kings of the earth will revere
your glory. 16For the LORD will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory. 17He will respond to the prayer of
the destitute; he will not despise their plea. 18Let this be written for a future generation, that a people
not yet created may praise the LORD: 19“The LORD looked down from his sanctuary on high, from
heaven he viewed the earth, 20to hear the groans of the prisoners and release those condemned to death.”
21
So the name of the LORD will be declared in Zion and his praise in Jerusalem 22when the peoples and the
kingdoms assemble to worship the LORD.
22
ISAIAH 45:22 “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
6
ISAIAH 49:6 He says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and
bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation
may reach to the ends of the earth.”

JONAH 3:1-4:11 31Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: 2“Go to the great city of
Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” 3Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went
to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. 4Jonah began by going
a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5The
Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on

sackcloth. 6When the news reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes,
covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. 7Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh: “By
the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not
let them eat or drink. 8But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on
God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. 9Who knows? God may yet relent and with
compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.” 10When God saw what they did
and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction
he had threatened. 41But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry. 2He prayed to the
LORD, “Isn’t this what I said, LORD, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing
to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding
in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. 3Now, LORD, take away my life, for it is better for
me to die than to live.” 4But the LORD replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?” 5Jonah went out and sat
down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what
would happen to the city. 6Then the LORD God provided a gourd and made it grow up over Jonah to give
shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the gourd. 7But at dawn the
next day God provided a worm, which chewed the gourd so that it withered. 8When the sun rose, God
provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonah’s head so that he grew faint. He wanted to
die, and said, “It would be better for me to die than to live.” 9But God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you
to be angry about the gourd?” “It is,” he said. “And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.” 10But the LORD
said, “You have been concerned about this gourd, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang
up overnight and died overnight. 11And should I not have concern for the great city Nineveh, in
which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right
hand from their left—and also many animals?”
18
MATT. 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to
19
me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded
you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
10
MARK 13:10 The gospel must first be preached to all nations.
15
MARK 16:15-16 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16Whoever
believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
14
JOHN 10:14-16 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15just as the Father
knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16I have other sheep that are
not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one
flock and one shepherd.”
17
JOHN 15:17 This is my command: Love each other.
26
ACTS 8:26-40 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that
goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an
important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”).
This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the
Book of Isaiah the prophet. 29The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.” 30Then Philip
ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are

reading?” Philip asked. 31“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited
Philip to come up and sit with him. 32This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: “He was led
like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 33In
his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from
the earth.” 34The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or
someone else?” 35Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about
Jesus. 36[37]As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is
water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” 38And he gave orders to stop the
chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him.
39
When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the
eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40Philip, however, appeared at Azotus
and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
34
ACTS 10:34-48 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show
favoritism but accepts those from every nation who fear him and do what is right. 36You know
35

the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ,
who is Lord of all. 37You know what has happened throughout the province of Judea, beginning in
Galilee after the baptism that John preached— 38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy
Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the
devil, because God was with him. 39“We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the
Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a cross, 40but God raised him from the
dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41He was not seen by all the people, but by
witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the
dead. 42He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God
appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43All the prophets testify about him that everyone who
believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” 44While Peter was still speaking these
words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45The circumcised believers who had come
with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.
46
For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God. Then Peter said, 47“Surely no one can stand
in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” 48So he
ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for a
few days.
47
ACTS 13:47-48 For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” 48When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and
honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.
27
ACTS 14:27 On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done
through them and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.
1
ACTS 15:1-12 Certain individuals came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers:
“Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2This
brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were
appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this
question. 3The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they
told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the believers very glad. 4When they came
to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported

everything God had done through them. 5Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the
Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”
6
The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7After much discussion, Peter got up and
addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that
the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8God, who knows
the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.
9
He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10Now then,
why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors
have been able to bear? 11No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved,
just as they are.” 12The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about
the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.
29
ACTS 16:29-34 The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30He then
brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31They replied, “Believe in the
Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” 32Then they spoke the word of the
Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed
their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. 34The jailer brought them into
his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in
God—he and his whole household.
4
ACTS 18:4 Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
16
ACTS 26:16-18 ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and
as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me. 17I will rescue you from your own people and
from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to
light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place
among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
28[29]
ACTS 28:28-29 “Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and
they will listen!”
5
ROMANS 1:5-6 Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to faith and
obedience for his name’s sake. 6And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus
Christ.

ROMANS 8:26-28 26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to
pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27And he who searches our
hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the
will of God. 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have
been called according to his purpose.

ROMANS 11:11-13 11Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of
their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12But if their
transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater
riches will their fullness bring! 13I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the
Gentiles, I make much of my ministry.

EPHESIANS 2:8-22 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is
the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God’s handiwork, created in
Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. 11Therefore, remember that
formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the
circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12remember that at that time you were
separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the
promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once
were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14For he himself is our peace, who has
made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15by setting aside in his flesh
the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of
the two, thus making peace, 16and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by
which he put to death their hostility. 17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace
to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.
19
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people
and also members of his household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with
Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises
to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling
in which God lives by his Spirit.

EPHESIANS 3:1-8 1For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— 2Surely
you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, 3that is, the mystery
made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. 4In reading this, then, you will be able
to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 5which was not made known to people in other
generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. 6This mystery
is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one
body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus. 7I became a servant of this gospel by the
gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. 8Although I am less than the least of all
the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of
Christ.

COLOSSIANS 4:2-6 2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3And pray for us, too, that God
may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am
in chains. 4Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5Be wise in the way you act toward
outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned
with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
