GeoSwath Plus Compact

1. Introduction
This Harbour Acceptance Test (HAT) describes the test methods for the GeoSwath Plus
Compact interferometric sonar system manufactured by Kongsberg GeoAcoustics. It
verifics the system installed is fully functional, and to serve as a record of the successful
completion of the Harbour Acceptance Test.

2. Definitions
GeoSwath Plus is a seafloor imaging and bathymetric system consisting of:
-

A Deck Unit.

Transducers (Port and Starboard).

Software, for data acquisition and processing.

Sensors (sound velocity, motion, navigation and heading).

6. HAT Prerequisites
Check that the GeoSwath Plus system is istalled on the vessel and the following
performed:

BNC link lead connected between the GPS receiver and 'PPS I N ' on
the GeoSwath Plus Compact Deck Unit.

GPS receiver RS232 output connected to C O M 1 on the GeoSwath


Plus Compact Deck Unit.

M R U RS232 output connected to C O M 2 on the GeoSwath Plus


Compact Deck Unit.

Navigation + heading connected to the aiding inputs on the M R U .

SVS sensor output connected to C O M 5 on the GeoSwath Plus


Compact Deck Unit.

Compact.
Press the system ON/OFF button.

The GeoSwath Plus Compact


starts up. The ON/OFF button
LED illuminates when the system
is on.

Turn-on the Toughbook.

The Toughbook Starts-up.

Start UltraVNC Vlewer.


Enter the IP Address of the GeoSwath Compact:
192.168.0.100 then press Connect.
Type n the password: remote

The Desktop of the operating


system running on the GeoSwath
Plus Compact appears.

Click Log On.

GS4 to GS4Remote link


check.

Cise UltraVNC Viewer.

GS4Remote is running. (Note the


versin).
The remote desktop view closes.

On the Toughbook, start GS4.

GS4 starts.

On the Ribbon click

The Workspace Options appear.

Remte .

Check that Remote Acquisition is icked and the


connect status indicator is green.

Frequency detect check.


In GS4 open the Log display Log and check the
reported frequency.

The frequency reported in the
GS4 Log display matches that of
the istalled GeoSwath Plus
bathymetry system.

Checks that:

Crate a new Equipment file.

A new Equipment File appears in


Survey Manager.

RS232 strings
from all sensors
are being
decoded.

Edit the Equipment file and decode each sensor


string (remember to set the correct Geodetic
parameters when decoding the nav).

Correctly decoded strings from


the sensors are shown in green
scrolling through the GS4
Equipment Editor.

A Vessel file can


be imported,
The MRU is
outputting valid
data.

Cise the equipment editor when finished.

Vessel Settings and choose Import | Import File.

The Vessel File import dialogue


appears.

Choose Generic.vsf, then click Open. Expand


the Vessel Settings tree in Survey Manager.

The Generic Vessel file is shown

process the line. (Note: If the vessel is stationary it
may be necessary to mark the Navigation 'Good'
beforehand).

GS4 successfully processes


logged raw data files.

Connect the DB9 on the mini-SVP interface cable


to the COM port on the Toughbook.

The GeoSwath deck unit can


communicate with the mini-SVP
and retrieve files from the internal
memory.

Connect the 10way SubConn connector onto the


mini-SVP.

Notes

Use Datalog Express to communicate to the miniSVP.


Set the pressure tare and also retrieve the files
from the sensors memory.
