As a recent Food Science graduate of Brigham Young University, I have had the opportunity to broaden
my horizons and cultivate an extensive background in this field. I have been able to develop a variety of skills
and experiences while working in a range of challenging roles and positions. These skills include:
Organizational Skills: I have been promoted, commended, and rewarded for my exceptional
organizational skills. I worked six semesters as a teaching assistant for several classes each with well over
50 students. As a lead researcher, it was my responsibility to plan, execute and report on hundreds of
different experiments. These experiments were often on a strict timeline and I never missed a deadline.
Communication Skills: As Media Manager, I oversaw and worked with 15 different research teams to
plan and meet their media needs in addition to organizing the media and material needs for the Food
Microbiology Laboratory and class. In my experience as a teaching assistant and manager, I was able to
effectively settle disputes, solve problems and train numerous employees and students.
Leadership Skills: As a capstone project, I was able to effectively lead and work with a team of peers to
create a new product from start to finish for a private peanut butter company. This included creating and
executing sensory evaluations, HACCP plans, plant trial plans, etc. I have also served on my colleges
student council and have held many leadership positions in my church and extracurricular groups.
