1) This assessment tool is appropriate to monitor learning that is aligned

with the learning objective FEAP 1d- Selects appropriate formative
assessments to monitor learning; because we are trying to monitor what
students know to be able to instruct them in the correct direction. We are
monitoring whether students are able to explain and justify their thinking as
well as be able to use tools and strategies to solve addition and subtraction.
This is also appropriate for FEAP 4b- Designs and aligns formative and
summative assessments that match learning objectives and lead to mastery;
because the main goal and objective is to get students to use different
strategies such as the make a ten to subtract and explain their thinking. By
doing so students will be able to master the learning objective.

2a) Based on the formative assessment data most of the students are able
to:
-Use place value to figure out addition and subtraction.
-Use a number line accurately to add or subtract.
-Use fact families for addition and subtraction.
- Use double facts to solve problems.
-Represent digits with images and drawings and are able to cross out to find
the missing digit.
-Are able to do standard algorithm.
-Are on the process of using words to explain their thinking.
-Are able to explain answers in more than one way.
-Need improvement in explaining the process and results of the work.
-Dont accurately know how to use ten frames to solve addition and
subtraction.

2b) To differentiate this lesson we will use flexible grouping. We will also
divide the students based on what they are not able to do. Example,
students who struggle with number lines will be assigned to a number line
group. This will also align with FEAP 3c- Identify gaps in students subject
matter knowledge.
3) This assessment will meet the needs of ELLs because the goal is to be
able to explain their thinking using drawings, words, strategies and
representations. This allows for students who struggle with understanding
the concept to be able to explain their thinking in more than one way which
will expand their knowledge in subject matter.
