Many doctors are concerned about the high use of computer

games by children and young people. What mental and


physical problems may arise from excessive use of these
games? How could these problems be reduced?

Excessive engagement of youth in video games is a matter of a


grave concern for the health practitioners. Unfortunately ,many
serious and fatal consequences could arise due to this trend
.Although, these effects could be brought under control through
proper awareness and healthy lifestyle.
As far as, mental issue of abnormal gaming is concerned, it can
lead to epilepsy in children. This is due to the reason that
exposure to excessive flashing light through monitor
,sometimes disturbs mental functioning and this leads to
seizure in some cases. If the situation gets worse, the subject
can die immediately. Physical problems usually include obesity,
bad blood circulation and other digestion related issues. Since,
computerised games promote sedentary style of conduct
,therefore, above mentioned physiological issue are inevitable.
Fortunately, there are solutions to the earlier mentioned health
risks. Firstly, people should be made aware of hazards posed
by strong rays of multimedia and also the ways their effects
could be minimised. This could be done by making use of
public advertisements ,health journals and encouraging people
to sit at a safe distance from the electronic devices and
purchase screen savers .Secondly, people should adopt a habit
of doing exercise regularly which will help to maintain as well
as improve the blood circulation in the body. Furthermore , it
will help to improve digestive system and metabolise body
fat .
In conclusion, immoderate use of video games is resulting in
problems linked to brain , stomach and body fat for younger
people. These issues could be brought under control through
proper self care and systematic awareness.
