realize 1+1 system clock redundancy protection. The master and slave CLK provide
two inputs and two outputs external clock interfaces simultaneously. The CLK
provides clock signals and frame head for service cards, when the master CLK fails,
the slave CLK will replace it and provide clock signals to each service slots without
service interruption.
Two CLK cards can be installed in slot 4 + 6 or slot 5 + 6 for protection, as shown in
Figure 7.

Figure 72 Connecting Trunk Cable with the E1 Ports

Route the cables along the wiring blocks and bundle the cables with cable straps.
Outside the wiring blocks, attach the cables to the bundling plate.

Lay the entire bundle of cables along the cable trough to the DDF, and coil the
excessive part of each cable in the DDF.

At the DDF, connect the connector to DDF terminals according to the label on
each cable. For 120 ohm balanced cables, the core wires can be identified by the
colors of the sleeves.

At the DDF, bundle 4 to 8, 2 Mbit/s cables together as one bundle, and lay the
bundles in overlap mode as required.

Inspect the installation to ensure proper electric connection for each cable and
the correct position of the cables on the DDF.

Note: For other types of cables, such as 155 Mbit/s, DS3, E3 and clock cable, the
installation method is similar to that of the E1 trunk cable. Follow the procedure
mentioned above to cable and bundle them.

Ethernet Cable Wiring and Bundling

Procedure:
1

Attach labels at both ends of each Ethernet cable. Label the cables in sequence
in the following format: Equipment number-IU Number-Cable number.

Fiber Wiring and Bundling

The fiber connector used for the SpectralWave MN2100 is of the LC/PC type, and
those used for ODF are FC/PC type. Generally, the part of the fiber outside of the
rack should be equipped with protection sleeves.
Procedure:
1

Determine the installation position and the layout of the fiber on the ODF and the
location for coiling excessive fiber on the ODF.

Measure the cabling distance from the ODF to the rack.

Determine the length of the fiber protection sleeve based on the measured
distance.

Paste labels at both ends of each fiber, marked with Receiving/Transmitting

Remote site name Remote Peer chassis slot Remote Peer optical interface.

If multiple sets of equipment are used at the remote site, add a sequence number
of the equipment to the site name.

If traffic is dropped from the fiber jumper, follow the label format of the trunk cable.

Spread all the fibers and pack them up into a bundle.

Bundle the connector one by one, staggering the distance between two optical
interfaces on the equipment.

Install a protection sleeve over the entire bundle of fibers, leaving a certain length
of fibers out of the protection sleeve, which should be at least equal to the
distance from the top or bottom of the rack to the optical interface of the shelf.

10 Connect the LC/PC connector of each fiber to the optical ports of the shelf, as
shown in Figure 74.

Checking Installation Correctness

Before powering on a subrack, check the system hardware strictly item by item
according to this chapter.

Rack Safety
1

The rack must be aligned, leveled, steady and well-grounded

The screws on the front and rear sides of a cabinet must be complete and
tightened

The order wire, antistatic wrist strap and Ethernet cables are equipped as
required

There must be no miscellaneous items in a rack

Subrack Installation
1

Check if there are any defects in the backplane of a subrack and if all cables and
wires are connected normally, especially the grounding cables of the subrack.

There must no such sundries such as small screws, metal filings or broken cable
straps in a subrack.

Cables and Connectors

1

All cables must be connected correctly.

All cables are laid neatly and tidily without affecting daily equipment maintenance;

The connector must not be misplaced and must be in good contact

The DDF is well grounded. It is especially important in system interconnection

because interconnection may fail due to poor grounding.

PDP300DFT Connection
The PDP300DFT is mounted in the uppermost part of a rack. All outlets have fuses,
and once a fuse in the PDP300DFT is blown, an alarm can be sent to the centralized
alarm and power distribution cabinet.

SpectralWave MN2100

Installation Guide

68

Chapter 6 Checking Installation Correctness

Card Appearance
1

Identifiers on the front panel of a card must be correct and clear, and screws
must be complete and tightened.

Check if the ejector levers are in good condition. If it is hard to turn the ejector
levers, loosen them so that the backplane is not damaged when inserting a card.

A blank panel with the corresponding size must be placed in a slot without a card.

Check if any of the pins on the backplane are bent and if the DIP switches,
jumpers, software versions and connectors of all cards are correct. The
engineering document must register the PCB version, FPGA/CPLD or EPLD
version and BIOS version of all cards.

Check if all cards can be inserted in their respective slots successfully. No forced
insertion or removal.

The anti-misplugging guide pin is normal and tightened.

Equipment Power-on
1

Check the fuse capacity of the office power output terminal.

Measure the internal resistance of the equipment and the power output voltage of
the user.

Before connecting a PDP to the user power supply, measure if any short
circuit occurs inside the equipment. The resistance between -48V and 0V is
infinite.

Measure the voltage of both ends of the office power output terminal, which
must be -41.5V to -70V, and then register the output voltage value. If the
voltage is beyond this range, suggest the telecom carrier to make
adjustment, and it is prohibited to power on the equipment.

Equipment power-on
-

Turn on the equipment power. The LED on the OAM begins flashing.

After all the cards are powered on and have undergone self-test, view the
status of the running LED and alarm LED on a card

For the detailed information about the status of the card LEDs, refer to the
related documents. If the status of a card is abnormal, remove the card. If the
anomaly remains, check whether it is caused by the problems in the card itself or
in the OAM.
4

Alarm output test

You may test the external alarm output and input if required.
