SpectralWave MN2100 can be mounted in a standard ETSI or 19-inch rack.
PDP300DFT
PDP300DFT Function
The PDP300DFT Power Distribution Panel (PDP) is used for the -48 V DC power
supply system, it provides DC power supply and overload protection for
SpectralWave products.
PDP300DFT has two -48 V DC inputs and eight -48 V DC outputs. Individual outputs
are overload protected by replaceable circuit breakers. PDP300DFT has one
alarm/control replaceable card. This card is used to indicate the PDP300DFT SPD
(Surge Protection Device) status. This card can also receive alarm status signals from
system and in turn displays these alarms on the PDP front panel LED indicators.
PDP300DFT also transmits its alarms to the rack for remote alarm management.
PDP300DFT has the following features:
Dual power inputs. Each input is circuit breaker protected. Each inputs max
current is 80A.
Eight -48V power outputs, each with circuit breaker protection. Each output has a
maximum current capacity of 50A
Audible and visual alarm status indicators for connected equipment and the
PDP300DFT itself

Installation Guide
This chapter describes how to lay cables and bundle the cables and fibers for the
SpectralWave MN2100. It contains the following topics:
Installation Preparation
Before installation, label the cables on both ends. It is recommended that a label
be pasted on a location at approximately 3 cm from the connector.
Route the power cables along the left side of the rack. Route the data cables
along the right side of the rack.
Arrange all cables so that they do not get entangled, as shown in Figure 66
shows.
SpectralWave MN2100
Cable straps should be evenly spaced (approximately 200 mm inside the rack
and 1000mm outside the rack), cut and properly tightened as shown in Figure 67.
Installation Guide
60
Cable turns should be smooth and natural. The bending radius for different
cables is listed in Table 47
Power Cable
>=60
Fiber
>=40
Ethernet Cable

Cable bundling at turns should meet the requirements shown in Figure 68.
Figure 68 Cable Treatment at Turns
Bundle the end of the fiber tube to prevent the tube from scratching the fiber
jumper.
Installation Preparation
Before commencing cabling, make sure that you have a complete set of cables
and connectors, and that they are all in good condition.
Fix or replace any faulty cables or connectors before proceeding with the
installation.
Grounding Method
Since the grounding method may vary with the Rack and PDP, please refer to the
Rack and PDP300DFT User Guide for detailed instructions.
Installation Guide
SpectralWave MN2100
61
Connect the PDP with equipment room power that distributes -48 V power to the
shelf.
Connect the power cable with the power module as Figure 70 shows.
SpectralWave MN2100
Connect the power cable from power module to the PDP, using the cabling
method is shown in Figure 71. Since the MN2100 needs two -48V power inputs,
the Yellow/Green core wires of the two power cables can be cramped to a
copper lug for an equipotential connection.
Installation Guide
62
Route the cables along the wiring blocks and attach the cables with cable straps.
Outside the wiring blocks, attach the cables to the bundling plate.
Subrack Grounding
The subrack is connected to the ground busbar inside the rack through the 6 mm2
grounding cable.
Label both ends of each Clock cable in a certain format, such as "Equipment
name-Equipment number-Slot Number-Port number".
Insert the clock cable connector into the CLK or SYSIF card.
Lead the clock cables out of the outgoing cabling area of the rack and lay them
along the cable trough to the external timing equipment. Use cable straps to
bundle them in the cable trough.
Installation Guide
Determine the installation position and layout of the trunk cables of the DDF
(Digital Distribution Frame), and verify that the wire gauge of the trunk cables will
fit in the DDF terminals.
SpectralWave MN2100
63
Attach labels at both ends of each set of trunk cables. Label the cables in
sequence in the following format: Equipment number-IU Number-Cable number.
Connect the trunk cable with the E1 ports as shown in Figure 72.
Route the cables along the wiring blocks and bundle the cables with cable straps.
Outside the wiring blocks, attach the cables to the bundling plate.
Lay the entire bundle of cables along the cable trough to the DDF, and coil the
excessive part of each cable in the DDF.
At the DDF, connect the connector to DDF terminals according to the label on
each cable. For 120 ohm balanced cables, the core wires can be identified by the
colors of the sleeves.
At the DDF, bundle 4 to 8, 2 Mbit/s cables together as one bundle, and lay the
bundles in overlap mode as required.
Inspect the installation to ensure proper electric connection for each cable and
the correct position of the cables on the DDF.
Note: For other types of cables, such as 155 Mbit/s, DS3, E3 and clock cable, the
installation method is similar to that of the E1 trunk cable. Follow the procedure
mentioned above to cable and bundle them.
Attach labels at both ends of each Ethernet cable. Label the cables in sequence
in the following format: Equipment number-IU Number-Cable number.
Connect the Ethernet cable with the Ethernet ports or the OAMP as shown in
Figure 73.

Outside the wiring blocks, attach the cables to the bundling plate.
Installation Guide
64
Lay the entire bundle of Ethernet cables along the cable trough to the access
devices, and coil the excessive part of each cable at the access device side.
Determine the installation position and the layout of the fiber on the ODF and the
location for coiling excessive fiber on the ODF.
Determine the length of the fiber protection sleeve based on the measured
distance.
If multiple sets of equipment are used at the remote site, add a sequence number
of the equipment to the site name.
If traffic is dropped from the fiber jumper, follow the label format of the trunk cable.
Bundle the connector one by one, staggering the distance between two optical
interfaces on the equipment.
Install a protection sleeve over the entire bundle of fibers, leaving a certain length
of fibers out of the protection sleeve, which should be at least equal to the
distance from the top or bottom of the rack to the optical interface of the shelf.
10 Connect the LC/PC connector of each fiber to the optical ports of the shelf, as
shown in Figure 74.
Figure 74 Connecting Fiber with Optical Ports
11 Route the fibers along the wiring blocks and bundle the fibers with fiber ties.
12 Lay the entire bundle of fibers and the protection sleeve along the fiber trough to
the ODF.
13 Coil the excessive part of each fiber patch cord in the ODF.

Before powering on a subrack, check the system hardware strictly item by item
according to this chapter.
Rack Safety
1
The screws on the front and rear sides of a cabinet must be complete and
tightened
The order wire, antistatic wrist strap and Ethernet cables are equipped as
required
Subrack Installation
1
Check if there are any defects in the backplane of a subrack and if all cables and
wires are connected normally, especially the grounding cables of the subrack.
There must no such sundries such as small screws, metal filings or broken cable
straps in a subrack.
All cables are laid neatly and tidily without affecting daily equipment maintenance;
PDP300DFT Connection
The PDP300DFT is mounted in the uppermost part of a rack. All outlets have fuses,
and once a fuse in the PDP300DFT is blown, an alarm can be sent to the centralized
alarm and power distribution cabinet.

Card Appearance
1
Identifiers on the front panel of a card must be correct and clear, and screws
must be complete and tightened.
Check if the ejector levers are in good condition. If it is hard to turn the ejector
levers, loosen them so that the backplane is not damaged when inserting a card.
A blank panel with the corresponding size must be placed in a slot without a card.
Check if any of the pins on the backplane are bent and if the DIP switches,
jumpers, software versions and connectors of all cards are correct. The
engineering document must register the PCB version, FPGA/CPLD or EPLD
version and BIOS version of all cards.
Check if all cards can be inserted in their respective slots successfully. No forced
insertion or removal.
Equipment Power-on
1
Measure the internal resistance of the equipment and the power output voltage of
the user.
Before connecting a PDP to the user power supply, measure if any short
circuit occurs inside the equipment. The resistance between -48V and 0V is
infinite.
Measure the voltage of both ends of the office power output terminal, which
must be -41.5V to -70V, and then register the output voltage value. If the
voltage is beyond this range, suggest the telecom carrier to make
adjustment, and it is prohibited to power on the equipment.
Equipment power-on
-
Turn on the equipment power. The LED on the OAM begins flashing.
After all the cards are powered on and have undergone self-test, view the
status of the running LED and alarm LED on a card
For the detailed information about the status of the card LEDs, refer to the
related documents. If the status of a card is abnormal, remove the card. If the
anomaly remains, check whether it is caused by the problems in the card itself or
in the OAM.
