JEE Advanced in one month:

The preparation strategy can be build around effective time management and astute
subject-wise planning. The challenge to crack the exam is definitely quite overwhelming
but a sincere and diligent effort can make it possible. Here are a few instructions for
aspirants on How to prepare for IIT JEE Advanced in one month

All the students must be following a strict time schedule for studying but now for
this last month they must upgrade the regime. Forget staying up late at night and instead
wake up early, at 5:30 A.M. A fresh mind is a better receptor and they can start their
routine early on in the day.

Design a fixed time table for this month too and try to form a habit of studying for
at least five to six hours at a stretch. A student may take a well deserved break of 20-25
minutes after, say 3 hours during this span. This routine can be practiced preferably from
8 in the morning to 3:00 P.M. and subsequently replicated in remaining portion of the day.

Students should focus on practicing more question papers in the morning. After
evaluation of every question paper one can easily decide which are the chapters they
should focus on. So the rest of the day they can revise those chapters.

Its not important to know everything. IIT JEE Advanced exam is all aboutquality
than quantity. Of course the student should know most of the things but rather than
focusing on all the chapters, a couple of them can be overseen to have better in depth
knowledge about the other chapters.

Those who have been religiously following NCERT books for the exam must
continue doing so. The book has precise theory followed by an excellent set of questions.
Apart from it, other good text books can be referred for further practice. NCERT
prototype can do wonders for those preparing for the Advanced exam as the concepts are
nicely explained. Once the students are through with NCERT pattern, they
must rigorously practice solving JEE sample papers to get an essence of the exemplar
and difficulty level of the impending exam. It would be nice if students are able to solve
at least 15- 20 papers prior to the final test. This helps immensely when you want to
prepare for JEE Advanced in one month.

Though every topic in the syllabus is crucial but emphasis on some topics forms
the base of the subject and can be applicable in other chapters too. The understanding of
these topics is very important and thus can help in achieving a good score. Instead of
devoting time in learning a new concept or engaging in complex topics, try and
concentrate on the topics that are already learnt. Keep appraising with attempting mock
papers and identify the problem areas. The little time left must be devoted to spotting
mistakes, if any and purging them with thorough practice.

Students tend to ignore their health and sleep while preparing for the test. It is
advised that they must sleep for at least 7-8 hours a day to invigorate their body and
mind. They can practice meditation and breathing exercises in free time to rejuvenate
themselves. Developing a habit of eating right will keep them nourished and supply
sufficient energy to carry on with studies.
The IIT JEE exams are a test of knowledge as well as the spirit of an individual to excel.
With patience and perseverance a student can perform well and breeze through with
flying colors.

Need For A JEE Mains Preparation Plan:

As the JEE Mains 2017 approaches in less than 10 months, students are leaving no stone
unturned to ensure their success. Day and night, students are in a state of
frenzy, preparing to complete the vast syllabus which will be their constant companion
over the months. Moreover, they also have to balance their time in between school
(though not for all), coaching and self-study. Its also important to pay attention to the
finer details of preparation. You need to have a JEE Main preparation plan for the next
few months ready at all times.
At this time, planning becomes very essential. It could very well be the deciding factor
between a hazy preparation and a well-balanced one that would lead to fruitful results.
Smart work, not hard work, is the key to success; and a well-planned out schedule leads
the way ahead.

JEE Main Preparation Plan: Next 3 Months

The 3 months from December to February are very crucial. Its the time to brush up your
concepts, revise the lessons and give a lot of mock tests. The month of March will
essentially be dedicated to the Board exams and hence, you may not find ample time for
last-minute revisions for JEE Mains. Those are best left to the few days in April, before
the exam. I provide a blue-print for preparations which you might find useful.
There are approximately 24 broad topics, in Maths- 12 of Class 11 and 12 of Class 12.
And the same goes for Physics. While for Chemistry, there are approximately 29 broad
topics- 14 of Class 11 and 15 of Class 12. So, the 3 months, i.e., 90 days must be
carefully divided among them.
For each topic, you should allot 3 days. On the first day, study the lesson thoroughly.
Practice the past year questions of JEE Mains on the second day. You may also try solving
the past year questions of JEE Advanced to improve your knowledge and understanding.
It will also help improve your future preparations. On the third day, take mock tests and
strive to work on your your accuracy and speed. After that, revise the lessons by going
through your short notes.
For every 3 days, choose one topic from each of the three subjects. In this way, you will
be done with Physics and Maths in 72 days. By this time, you will also be done with 24
topics of Chemistry. For the next few days, you can choose to do 2 topics of Chemistry

simultaneously.
This will leave you approximately 10 more days to work on the topics, which you find
difficult. Also, you may use this time to prepare for your Board exams.
I hope this plan will be of use to you. Do make the required changes to suit your needs.
To aid you further, we bring you 5 must-have apps for JEE-Main preparation.
Good luck ahead!

Hello everyone! You people are now into the last month preparations before JEE
Advanced. This is the final stretch that final period, where you can actually stake a
strong claim to an IIT/NIT seat. The foundation was laid in the previous two years of your
preparation. Now, its time to build on everything you did in that time. Its the last lap;

stop jogging and take a sprint.

This is actually one of the worst phases of your

IIT preparation you are actually done with it, but have to keep going through the same
routine time and again, study the exact same things and appear for papers. It does sound
like a bleak prospect, but then this is just another test en route! So heres a post on how to
get through this period without any hitches, and with maximum productivity.
The work you did in the previous two years ascertained your selection; The work you do
in the next two months will determine where you stand in the final examination. There are
simple things to be kept in mind while going through this period; simple practices you
could follow without too much of an effort. Here are some insightful views that will help
you in your last month preparations before JEE Advanced.

Last Month Preparations Before JEE Advanced:

1) Dont let confidence get to your head, or crash you down: This, in my opinion, is the
single most important thing to be taken care of. Your confidence will determine your
efficiency; overconfidence or under-confidence will both reduce your efficiency. Make
sure that does not happen. To put it concisely, Rule #1 of surviving this period make
sure your head is in the right place.
2) Dont go for new theory books: Everyone has their own set of reference books during
the two years of preparation, and you somehow get accustomed to a particular authors
language, examples and style of narration. And it can be a tad stressful to open a
completely new author with their altogether different narration and examples in the last
month preparations before JEE advanced. Not to mention the goof-ups in books like those
of Organic Chemistry. Also, if you have studied well in the past two years, then youve
probably highlighted all the important stuff in your textbooks. If you pick up a new book,
youll have to crawl through an entirely new database of information, which will be
QUITE time-consuming. And you can always use that time in a bit of revision.
3) Solve as many test papers as you can: Test papers are the ultimate prep tool in the
students arsenal. You get new questions from there, you build up your stamina, and you
actually learn how to attempt papers. Join a good All India Level Test Series. You
can visit us for practice papers as well as clearing your doubts. Let test papers become the
source of new questions for you. Its very important that you learn stress management
before your exams, and this is the best period to do that. Solve as many tests as you can.
Theyll help in pointing out where you go wrong, what topics need revising and where
your weaknesses lie. Analyse yourself at the end of each test, however long or short. Also,
make it a point to give tests in the JEE Advanced way sitting down for 6 hours with a 2
hour break in between. Its really hard to maintain your composure and speed till the end.
Practice that, and practice hard. It makes a LOT of difference on the exam day a
potential 3 digit ranker can slip to 4 digits, all due to a lack of composure. So give a LOT
of tests, and give them with full preparation and as if you are giving your final exam.
4) Go through synopsis of chapters, and if you havent prepared it, prepare one for each
chapter, and go through it: Synopses are really helpful in quick go-throughs of chapters;
the formulae, the concepts and everything in between. That will save time, and make

revising very easy. Include some cracking examples, and you dont really need a book for
this period.
5) Keep revising Inorganic Chemistry THOROUGHLY: This is a part of chemistry
which most toppers study VERY seriously. People generally think that JEE wont have
memory-based questions. Theyre wrong. JEE DOES ask memory based questions, and
they make up almost 20% of the paper. Be VERY thorough with Inorganic. Try and
divide up the subject into four parts in a notebook Information, structures, explanations
and reactions. Make up something separate for salt-analysis, read it from a good book.
This years JEE-Main contained about 40% Inorganic in chemistry. That should be
enough warning for anyone doing last month preparations for JEE Advanced 2016.
6) Be very thorough with the scoring topics: JEE syllabus has a lot of easy-scoring
topics scattered here and there. Make sure you capitalise on them. These are the questions
you must ABSOLUTELY solve to have a crack a good rank. Topics like Modern Physics,
Co-ordinate Geometry are just some areas where you can score highly, as they do not
invoke any GENUINELY thought-provoking questions. And the examiners are generous
enough to give a good weightage to these topics. So itd be worth your while to spend
some time on these topics during this period.
Thats about it, guys. I can totally understand the frustration that sometimes must get to
you. But trust me, ride this out properly, and you will make up A LOT of ground with
those ahead of you. As mentioned above, this period is also one where you can lose out
on a lot of ground if you slack around. So be on your toes, stay sharp, and dont let this
get to you. Also, a more trivial thing: take good care of your health. Eat properly, dont
compromise on sleep and stay healthy. Fight it out this one last time, and therell be

ample of time to enjoy life after this!

We hope you have your JEE advanced admit cards with you. Conquering the beast that is
JEE advanced is tough but you must persist in these last days. If you want to read more

With judgement day approaching in all its glory, every aspirants hope is to crack the
code. Though JEE in itself isnt that difficult to crack, it is still a herculean task and each
aspirant fears if all his hard work is going in vain.
You are going to enter the last phase of your 2-year old journey. The last one month is the
month of anxieties, stress, disbelief and sleepless nights. You have to brace yourselves for
all the possibilities that the future holds. It is time to fasten your seatbelts and prepare
yourselves for the final ride of your JEE journey.
It is imperative to know that, the utilisation of this time is a must, and will consequently
be a deciding factor in the examination. Its time to clear all the uncertainties and to
channelise your efforts into getting a fruitful JEE rank. To optimise your performance,
you must keep in mind the following factors and work on them accordingly:

Stick to the syllabus:

It is necessary to stick close to what is mentioned in the syllabus for the examination.
Some students have a habit of learning things which are beyond the scope of the syllabus
and end up wasting their time. JEE Advanced has a definite syllabus which is enough for
cracking the exam. So make use of your time in the most productive way in order to be
prepared well for the exam.

Focus on your fundamentals:

Follow the golden rule!

The questions of JEE Advanced are set in a way to combine all the topics together which
may appear to be intimidating and complicated. But the reality of the questions can be
easily understood by having a meticulous look at them. These questions are based on the
fundamental topics that you have been taught. All you have to do is to stick to the basics.
You can crack each and every question possible with the knowledge you have, just dont
fear the sums.

Stay healthy before the exam:

Apart from studying, staying healthy is also very important for your exam. You must have
at least 6 hours of sleep daily and have proper meals to make sure that you do not face

any medical issues. Additionally, you can practice solving papers in the time that you will
be appearing in the real examination.

Correct your mistakes:

Small, silly mistakes can be your worst nightmare in the examination. In the pressure,
mistakes such as (-1)*(-1)=-1, or 4+5=20 can cost you the complete question. You must
discover these type of recurring mistakes you make in the paper and find a way not to do
them.

Test series and past years paper:

It is imperative to self-evaluate and gauge your understanding of the concepts you are
studying for the exam. The best way to do this by solving mock papers and tests which
can be insightful enough for the purpose. Also, its always wise to go through the past
years question papers which can be helpful in gauging the level of difficulty and
understanding the type of questions. This is also helpful in discovering and rectifying the
mistakes and managing time to a great extent.

Develop an optimal strategy to attempt the paper:

-Morris Chang
TWEET THIS

The way you select the questions, how much time you devote to each question, the
management of time and several other factors play an important role in determining your
JEE rank. You should develop your strategy for execution and optimise it as much as you
can, in order to get the most out of 3 hours. At the same time, your way of execution
should be flexible enough to transit from plan A to plan B without panicking as JEE
Advanced can prove to be notorious at times.

Stay in control of your emotions:

At times, you may feel like giving up on things or get frustrated. You may regret the silly
mistakes you did. You may feel like you can never make up for the time wasted. But dont

let these emotions override you. You have to manage these crucial moments with
confidence and have belief in yourselves. If you feel gloomy or develop frustration, stay
calm. Relax your mind. Remember the things you learnt in the course of 2 years, clear out
your goal again to charge you up. Listen to some music to get refreshed.

Lastly,
The things I have mentioned are the ones that are within our control. The final verdict of
the paper is in the hands of JEE Advanced Board. You never know what surprise you are
going to get till the last minute. Last year, before the examination, the mindset of all
students (myself among them) were all set to give 180 marks of paper ( paper-I and
paper-II) in 3 hours, with some questions having negative marking (max. 50% of the
questions weight-age) due to past years exam pattern. The fact that JEE comes with a
twist when you think you have judged it enough, proved yet again. In Paper I & II both,
Total 60 Questions were asked. 20 Questions from Each Subject were asked. First paper
was of 264 marks while paper two was of 240 marks. Each subject was of 168 marks
overall. Total marks for both paper combined were 504. Many aspirants were bowled out
with this sudden change of pattern, lowering down the average marks scored. The thing I
am trying to say is that, you can never expect what is going to come this year, but have
the fact in the mind that, whatever comes in the examination, give your 100%. You will
only get one chance to strike, push your maximum out of it. Be ready to face the worst
situation possible, if you can make out of it, you will achieve your dream.
If you remember these things, you will surely be able to clear examination with flying
colours!

With the JEE Main exam approaching way too fast and with the very little, but crucial
time left in hand, it becomes very important for an aspirant to plan things out. An aspirant
needs to manage XII boards along with therevision of JEE, which becomes a major factor
in the determination of their JEE Main rank. It is essential to manage the time
meticulously in these days. Every step taken will determine their performance in the
exam.
To start with, the dilemma that every aspirant face during these months is the board
exams. The fact that boards are given a weightage of 40% is tempting for an individual
and they devote most part of their time towards the boards, which can prove to be a very
dangerous thing. Even though its a completely agreeable fact that NCERT books are like
the bible for those appearing for JEE Main, it doesnt imply that mugging up the syllabus
would get you an outstanding AIR. The syllabus may look similar but the pattern and
level of questions differ in some way or another. The truth is, most questions that JEE
asks are logical, where an individual has to apply every concept, to reach a solution. So
adequate time must be given towards problem-solving for JEE besides the boards.
Keeping in mind that some topics are more important than others, following topics must
be emphasised during the revisions:

Important topics for JEE:

Physics:

Kinematics, Rotational and fluid mechanics, Waves and Sound, Heat and
thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Capacitors, Magnetism, LCR- circuits, Electromagnetic
induction, Optics and Modern physics.
Chemistry:

1. Physical Chemistry: Mole Concept, Structure of atom, Chemical and Ionic

Equilibrium, Electrochemistry.
2. Inorganic Chemistry: Chemical Bonding, Co-ordination Chemistry, s, p,d (important)
and f block elements. (For inorganic part, NCERT is strictly recommended)
3. Organic Chemistry: Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Organic
Compounds containing Halogen, Nitrogen and Oxygen, Polymers.
Mathematics:

Quadratic Equations and Expressions, Complex numbers, Vectors, Coordinate geometry,

Conics, Functions, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Application of Derivatives,
Definite Integral and Probability.
Post board examination, there isnt much time available for learning new things, even less
time for revision. This period should only be dedicated to solving mock test papers
and test series. Solving past year question papers is also a good option to boost
confidence and to simulate for exams. Both speed and strike rate matter. You need to be
quick and accurate to achieve high scores. High speed with less accuracy can affect your
score.
JEE Mains is not difficult, rather it is tricky! If used strategically, this fact can be
exploited to your advantage. Some questions can be solved using tricks that you had
learnt in the course of preparation. During preparation always give a thought to solve the
questions in a limited amount of time. If you succeed you learn a trick, if not, the
conventional method is always an option. These small tricks save a huge amount of time
during the examination.

Finally, you should keep in mind the choice of your questions. It is always better to strike
off the easier ones first, transiting towards average and then towards the difficult ones.
Be confident. Be smart. And all the best for JEE Main 2016!

With JEE Main 2016 admit card just round the corner, and with the belief that you have
prepared well till the present day, you are about to enter in the most crucial period of your
2 years of journey. The last 1 month, the month of anxieties, disbelief, stress and sleepless
nights, you have to mould yourselves in order to convert all your hard-work into a
fruitful JEE rank. For optimal utilization of this crucial time, you should keep in mind the
following points:
Devote more time for revision:
Many students now realize the fact that, they have not covered all the topics as mentioned
in syllabus. So they spend more time studying new things rather than revising the
previous ones. The end result is that they mess-up all the things the paper. So to avoid

this, you must devote most of the remaining time for the revisions of the things that you
know and try to excel in them. 20-30% of the left over time can be utilized for learning
the new things.

Always remember this!

Divide your time wisely:
In these 30 days, you are required to revise all the things that you have learned in the span
of 2 years. In order to revise in the most efficient way, you must plan the things out in a
sorted manner. Channelize your time that suits you most appropriately depending on your
strength and weaknesses.

Improve your speed vs accuracy ratio:

In JEE, you need to attempt a large number of questions with respect to time. This
demands speed. But, dont get influenced as the second face to this fact is, the attempts

need to be accurate. Else negative marks can pull down your expectations. So it is
imperative hat you should maintain a good speed vs accuracy ratio for optimal
performance.

Simulate the examination:

It is essential to know the type of questions and the way they are asked. Try solving mock
papers on a regular basis. Past year questions is always a good option. Simulate as if it is
a real examination and utilize time accordingly.

Tricks can be time saviors:

You should develop strategies and figure out some ways to save the time. Tricks can be so
helpful in few cases that some questions can be solved within couple of seconds which
otherwise would have taken a long time if worked upon conventionally. The time saved
can be utilized for solving difficult ones in the paper.

Manage your stress:

You may sometimes fell that you can never be able to crack JEE, or may be you will not
feel like studying because of stress. This can prove to be the most challenging phase to
tackle. You must keep motivating yourselves in one way or the other and not let the stress
overcome you. Remember the things that you would be proud of after you will
crack JEE .

Be Confident:
You must stay positive and be confident enough to say, any question within the scope of
syllabus can be easily solved by me. You are at the final stage for what you had been
preparing for. Just be confident! You will surely crack JEE Main 2016 with flying colors!

Having done with the holiday season, hopefully you have pulled up your socks because
JEE is fast approaching. Since cracking JEE takes a taxing amount of time (years,
actually), the remaining four months are only going to help you polish what you have
been preparing all this while. Surely you have been in this race for several months and
probably even have most of the formulae at your fingertips, but are your preparations
really organized? What makes JEE standout from its fellow examinations is the tricky
preparation scheme it demands. If you feel that you have jumbled too many concepts and
often get confused while tackling questions, do not fret. We are here to help you polish
your rough edges with an effective 4 month plan to crack JEE 2016. Read on, folks!

Heres your 4-months plan designed for cracking JEE

2016:
January:

Hardly a week left in January must remind you to get over with all the remaining
chapters. These may include those chapters which hold less priority from JEE point of
view (such as Surface Chemistry, Practical Organic Chemistry, Elastic moduli etc). But
moreover, this month should be the kick-start to your test series practice. Even
candidates who are well versed and accustomed to tough questions fail to complete
attempting the entire question paper resulting into a low score.

To avoid this, you must try to solve more problems pertaining to chapters with lengthier
problems.

These

may

include: Optics,

Modern

Physics,

Thermodynamics in

Physics, Equilibrium and Kinetics in Chemistry,Permutation and Combination,

Probability, Vector and 3-D geometry, and some lengthy integration problems in
Mathematics. Once you develop the required pace while attempting the question paper,
you have already won the race halfway!
February:

Having done being thorough with the syllabus (if not, you might as well hurry up!), the
calendar lets you know that you should start visiting NCERT textbooks soon. For the first
two weeks, you can take it easy and juggle both JEE and Boards preparation as many leftbehind fundamentals are easily tackled by NCERT. Your revision can be easily
coordinated by studying the same chapter from JEE point of view in the first half of the
day, and for Boards in the next half. This way, you will be well versed in the chapter and
be stepping ahead on your preparation as well.
In the second half of the month, drop all of your JEE brain circuits and focus on Boards.
This just might be your first examination of the year and you dont want to step into JEE
(Mains) with a disappointed Boards score. Above that, a good Boards score is a very true
representation of your basic fundamentals.

March:
While Boards Examinations proceed, you will often get week long gaps between your
papers. Dont let these go to waste. You must optimize your preparation and try to
solve at least one practice paper every day. When youre done with your board
examinations, try to analyze your preparation on the basis of the test series you have been
attempting. Fill those loopholes of your weak points and keep in touch with all important
formulae. Revise important concepts and as the exam date nears, focus more on concept
revision than problem solving.

April:
After JEE (Mains), you will have a clear idea of your score.

If you feel you have scored well, you must keep analyzing your
performance to outperform yourself in JEE (Advanced).

If

you

feel

that

you

have

underperformed

as

per

your

expectations, you must not lose heart. Often, JEE (Mains) fetch
questions from the most rare topics, and renders students efforts
useless. But your confidence should not waver if you have prepared
well for JEE (Advanced) point of view.
Keep practicing and revising. All the best!

It is important to contemplate the fact that a decent board result plays a major role in
getting into IIT. The marks obtained in JEE Mains and boards will influence CBSE
ranking and it is the gateway for entry in to an engineering college apart from IIT.
However, only the students who attained the cut off in JEE Mains will be eligible for the
next level Advanced exam. Thus students must aim at accumulating an excellent score at
IIT Advanced test so they can bag a seat in the institute. We bring you a list of homework

strategies that can help students immensely to help you prepare for IIT JEE Advanced in
one month.

All the students must be following a strict time schedule for

studying but now for this last month they must upgrade the regime.
Forget staying up late at night and instead wake up early, at 5:30 A.M.
A fresh mind is a better receptor and they can start their routine early

Design a fixed time table for this month too and try to form a
habit of studying for at least five to six hours at a stretch. A student
may take a well deserved break of 20-25 minutes after, say 3 hours
during this span. This routine can be practiced preferably from 8 in the
morning to 3:00 P.M. and subsequently replicated in remaining portion
of the day.

Students should focus on practicing more question papers in

the morning. After evaluation of every question paper one can easily
decide which are the chapters they should focus on. So the rest of the
day they can revise those chapters.

Its not important to know everything. IIT JEE Advanced exam

is all aboutquality than quantity. Of course the student should
know most of the things but rather than focusing on all the chapters, a
couple of them can be overseen to have better in depth knowledge
about the other chapters.

Those who have been religiously following NCERT books for

the exam must continue doing so. The book has precise theory
followed by an excellent set of questions. Apart from it, other good text
books can be referred for further practice. NCERT prototype can do
wonders for those preparing for the Advanced exam as the concepts
are nicely explained. Once the students are through with NCERT
pattern, they must rigorously practice solving JEE sample
papers to get an essence of the exemplar and difficulty level of the
impending exam. It would be nice if students are able to solve at
least 15- 20 papers prior to the final test. This helps immensely
when you want to prepare for JEE Advanced in one month.

Though every topic in the syllabus is crucial but emphasis on

some topics forms the base of the subject and can be applicable in
other chapters too. The understanding of these topics is very important
and thus can help in achieving a good score. Instead of devoting time
in learning a new concept or engaging in complex topics, try and
concentrate on the topics that are already learnt. Keep appraising with
attempting mock papers and identify the problem areas. The little
time left must be devoted to spotting mistakes, if any and
purging them with thorough practice.

Students tend to ignore their health and sleep while preparing for
the test. It is advised that they must sleep for at least 7-8 hours a
day to invigorate their body and mind. They can practice meditation
and breathing exercises in free time to rejuvenate themselves.
Developing a habit of eating right will keep them nourished and supply
sufficient energy to carry on with studies.
The IIT JEE exams are a test of knowledge as well as the spirit of an individual to excel.
With patience and perseverance a student can perform well and breeze through with
flying colors.

the JEE exam. Make sure you do your homework regularly, on time everyday. It doesnt
matter how much time you spend in school or in coaching, you will have to take out time
for self-studies.
2. Relaxation and time-pass are also very important, as they will fresh your mind and
energize you to study again. It is advised to take a 15 minute break after every 60 minute
session of study. Take out time for snacks and take at least an hour break for the meals,
this will clear your mind.
3. Keep distance from people who can distract you from your mission, avoid parties and
hangouts.

for the final exam. Here are some of the DONTS that you must avoid while preparing for
JEE exam:
1. The students must not believe in short cuts and stress on learning the concepts as most
of the questions are concept based.
2. Never leave todays work on tomorrow as time is very precious. If you follow a
routine, you must abide by it and never miss your short term goals.
3. The JEE aspirants must not waste time in useless activities like watching television and
using smartphones. They can use these tools to kill boredom after long hours of study.
4. Worrying too much about the examination will do no good. Small amount of tension is
good, but taking too much stress will take a toll on your health thereby hampering your
studies.

With the Judgement Day approaching, what every JEE aspirant hopes is to crack the
code. While cracking JEE is not rocket science, it is still a herculean task and every
student preparing for JEE fears whether their hard work is not all going in vain. The
following plan that is precisely targeted for your benefit and convenience so that you may
channelize and prepare for JEE in last 6 months and achieve a good JEE rank.

Prepare for JEE in last 6 months

This plan is designed such that it wont matter where you are in the race. If you feel that
you have been lagging behind, approach this JEE mantra as a fresh start. Or if you know
that you have pretty much maintained your pace all the way, this plan can easily be your
brush-up and final touch for your preparation.
Along with this plan, be sure to always be in touch with practice papers and test series for
JEE. They will keep your revised.

Oh, well.

October:
This month, you should totally focus on the chapters which are considered tough and
have always been your weakness. Since there is still ample time, I advise you to
finally conquer these chapters from JEE syllabus once and for all. Naming a few chapters
students generally falter upon:
Physics: Rotational Dynamics, Fluid (this is a very often ignored but is an important
chapter), Thermodynamics.
Chemistry: Thermal physics, Equilibrium and Kinetics, Special name reactions of
alkanes to alkynes, alcohols, aldehydes, Inorganic Part 1 (Start revising/studying from the
beginning).
Maths: Solution of Triangles and trigonometry, Permutation and Combination, Matrices
and Determinants.
It is time to brush up these tough concepts. It can get a bit stressful, hence this JEE plan
has been devised with maximum 3-4 chapters per subject.

November:
We move further into brushing up tough chapters. With increased speed, this can be the
final month for such chapters:
Physics: Capacitance and current, Magnetism, Electromagnetic induction, AC circuits.
Chemistry: Electrochemistry, solid state and solutions, radioactivity, Inorganic Part 2
(Oxygen, Sulphur, Halogens and start of transition elements), special reactions of ketones,
phenols, benzene, aldol condensation etc.
Mathematics: Complex numbers, Progression, Probability and Co-ordinate Geometry
(Cartesian, line, circle)

December:
As we near the end of year, we finally cover the last segment of these chapters for JEE.

Physics: Optics and Modern Physics (These chapters are burning topics and most
frequently asked these days), wave and SHM. Polish them with all your might.
Chemistry: Redox reactions, States of matter, Inorganic Part 3 (remaining transition
elements and compounds, Ores and metallurgy), Carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins,
and polymers.
Maths: Co-ordinate Geometry(Remaining), Vectors, Differential calculus, Integral
Calculus Part 1 (Basic integration). Polish these properly as well.

January:
Now, we cover minor topics so as to sum up our preparation:
Physics: Kinematics and Motion, Centre of mass and gravitation, elastic moduli.
Chemistry: Qualitative analysis, Practical Organic Chemistry, atomic structure, surface
chemistry.
Maths: Integral Calculus Part 2(Remaining), 3 dimension geometry, Quadratic
Equations.

February and March:

These months are primarily saved for preparation of boards and their exams. While you
get thorough with NCERT books, make sure to study them with JEE (Main) point of view
as many basic questions of JEE can be tackled from NCERT textbooks.

After March:
When youre done with your board examinations, try to analyze your preparation on the
basis of the test series you have been attempting. Fill those loopholes of your weak points
and keep in touch with all important formulae. Revise important concepts and as the
exam date nears, focus more on concept revision than problem solving.
Throughout these 6 months, constantly solve several problems, be it from previous years
JEE questions, assignments or JEE test series, so as to know which topics are yet to be

covered. The more you analyze your preparation, the easier you reach the finish line! All
the best!

Should Inculcate

In a country where millions of students register for each entrance exams every year, and
each of them putting their heart, soul and sweat into preparation for as long as three to
four years, competition sure takes a toll on them. In a race like this, aspirants often look
up to previous top 100 All India Ranked students for inspiration. This article brings to you
20 habits of toppers to advice you for the right way to prepare for your entrance exam.
Read on!

20 Habits Of Toppers You Should Inculcate:

Start beforehand:
The first key to a toppers success is early preparation. An early head-start gives a
complete edge to a topper and his preparation. Although it is never too late to start, try to
be as early a runner in the race as possible.

Planning:
It has aptly been said that if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail. Always keep in
mind the topics to be studied in various subjects and at the end of your daily study, make
a mental note whether you fulfilled the goals of the day. After that, find out the reasons
for any deviation and take remedial measures for any distraction or diversion.
Time Management:
Have a clear picture of the time regarding month, week, days and hours. Keep a track of
all your activities that you perform from the time you get up till you go to sleep. This will
help you avoid the unproductive activities and balance the schedule of your studies. You
can bring about certain adjustments in your habits and behavior also. While maintaining
a study schedule of 12 to 14 hours a day, you need to give importance to the quality of
your study.
Self-discipline:
It is only through self-discipline can one guarantee a good result. No one but you yourself
can train to push your boundaries. Putting yourself through a fixed schedule everyday and
abiding by it can be tricky and monotonous but that is the sole way. You must discipline
yourself to the level that you follow the remaining habits mentioned in this article!
Attendance:
Believe it or not, attending all the classes (be it online or coaching tuition, whichever you
prefer) becomes a must. You simply cannot do away with skipping lectures of chapters
which seem insignificant to you. Any chapter must not be treated lightly, for they will be
the reason for your future troubles.
Stick to less reading material:
This mantra is always found in the habits of toppers. Reading more material only makes
you more confused about concepts. Consult proper guides to make sure you are reading
limited but quality material which will help build a strong conceptual base.
Clear doubts:
The key to building concepts is clearing doubts. Firstly, if doubts dont arise in your
method of study, you are not doing it right. Indulge into the concepts and try to
understand the methodology. The more you dive in, the more doubts you have. But dont

let them pass away. Make sure to jot them down and do away with them once you have
cleared them with your teacher.
Understand more, memorize less:
Apart from mugging up equations and formulas, all of the concepts do not demand from
you your memory. Memorizing concepts and problem solving methods will not take you a
long way. Since the questions are not repeated every year, you cannot move ahead by
memorizing solutions to specific problems. Do it the topper way and understand more
than you memorize.
Right guidance:
Self-study is a must, but a good coaching center has its own advantages. Different
experienced faculties of the coaching center can guide you in various subjects and at the
same time can clarify your doubts. Not only that, coaching centres also provide you with
classmates. You can also interact with your classmates and seniors.
Testing your preparation regularly:
The process of self improvement can only be achieved through regular self analysis. Set
daily, weekly and monthly goals for yourself and analyse whether you met those goals or
not. Nobody is born a topper with an AIR 1, but it is only through constantly increasing
graph of self-improvement that a student achieves this goal.
Exam simulation:
This is a very important factor in a toppers preparation. However outstanding be your
preparation, you cannot excel in an exam if you are not used to sitting for an exam for say
3 continuous hours and adjusting your accuracy and problem solving speed such that you
can finish the paper on time. This is also achieved through the following point.
Regular test series:
Not only does solving test series help you in exam simulation, but also present you with a
complete analysis of your current preparation. Every test series helps you realize the
loopholes in your preparation and concepts.
Avoid being nervous:
Confidence is the shield you have to build for yourself. Being nervous and frantic

regarding the results even before you have written the exam is sheer foolishness and has
never helped improve performance. Of course a small amount of it is beneficial in
pushing you to perform better but know when to control it.
Sample/Previous years papers:
The key to cracking an exam is understanding its pattern and regular question types. Most
of the entrance exams do not change the standard of their questions and the question
paper pattern. Many hardly even change most of their questions.
Occasional group study:
Always be in touch with your peers. No lone wolf has ever won the cup. Staying social
helps you learn each others doubts and solve them, strengthening your concepts. Believe
me, an enriching conversation with your friends on a concept can expand your horizon.
Constant revision:
Revision term is always wrongly associated with last minute preparation. Revision is not
only supposed to be done when the exams are next door but throughout the time of
preparation. Concepts are easy to be forgotten especially if you dont put them to use
daily. One of the habits of toppers youd do well to inculcate ASAP.
Last months preparation:
The final months preparation is all that counts. You need to analyse where you stand in
your preparation race, and make a final four or three month plan to sum up your
preparation well.
Believe in yourself:
Working hard is important, but the true soul of a toppers preparation is his belief in
himself. This is one of the best habits of toppers. Have the confidence to tell yourself that
you have what it takes and can crack the exam with a good score, everyday. Such self
motivation is always a mood booster and will help you get through the storm.
Treat yourself occasionally:
After heavy weeks of study, dont refrain from enjoying yourself at the movies or a party,
however keep a check. All work and no play will only lead to a monotonous study which
will eventually end up in losing interest in the subject which is highly undesirable.

Body health:
Take restricted but nutritious diet and keep the negative thoughts away from your mind.
Avoid losing sleep and do not disturb your sleep pattern. Practice meditation and
breathing exercise for increasing your concentration. Probably the most important among
the habits of toppers!
Work hard and get golden results.
Read on here, to know more about the habits of toppers and bridge the gap between you
and them.
All the best!

JEE MAINSTUDY PLAN

I.I.Ts are one of the most premier and best colleges in India. They offer best environment
to excel, great faculties and loads of opportunities. Almost every youngster in India who

wants to become a successful engineer dreams for I.I.T. Now in this post I have
mentioned my personal JEE Main timetable.

JEE Main Timetable: A Must-Have

Half of the battle is won if you start well, keeping this in mind I started preparing for
JEE few days after my 10th board results were out. My result was not that good so I made
up my mind to study seriously for JEE, the next big thing. I got enrolled in a coaching
class after consulting few of my seniors who have made it to the JEE earlier. Consulting
with them gave me more insights about the strategy and schedule I should follow to
prepare for JEE Main. Doing more and more self-study was an important tip I got from
them and thus accordingly made up my schedule.
Duration of coaching was 3 hours in the evening, 1 hr class each for maths, physics and
chemistry. I started slowly because I wanted to clear my concepts. Everyday timetable
included school (7.30-1.30), then 1 hour of revision/homework (2.30-3.30PM), 3 hours of
coaching in evening (4-7PM). From 8 to 12 I used to do self-study continuously. As soon
as I finished a chapter, I used to do all the questions that came from it in previous year
papers on following Sunday. Practicing previous year papers gave me big boost on how to
study a concept and how to apply it. Once in a month me and 4 of my friends who were
also preparing used to meet and discuss the strategy of preparation of each one. We also
played sports on Sundays/holidays to keep ourselves fit and lively. Also I used to study on
interviews of toppers to know what strategy they followed which helped me to improve
mine.
After my 11th class was over I joined a online test series programme and started giving
full length test every 2 week as in coaching they were already teaching us 12th class
syllabus for more than one month. Online practice test helped me to know where I lacked,
what is my strong area and what mistakes can I avoid in tests. Also when in holiday
periods when there was no school I used to increase my time of self-study to 6 hours.
I continued this schedule till one month before JEE main and then started giving full
length mock tests every day. Rest of the day was spent in revising formulae and some
things which needed mugging were mugged.
This was my personal JEE Main timetable. Make the schedule which fits your need, take

guidance from seniors. My only advice is to give more importance to self-study and give
enough number of mock test papers.
You can get further help for planning your studies here.
All the best.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy! Well, I couldnt agree more. Wouldnt it be
boring just to study and lead a dull life while at IIT? Yes, of course! Its not fun at all to
become a mere self-confessed tech addict with a narrow box set of hobbies and interests.
It is a vast world out there and it is good to have varied interests. We tell you about some
interesting hobbies of IITians that help shape their personalities.

Common Hobbies of IITians:

So, its time to amp up your game and make the most of the four years of
graduation. Picking up a hobby or two will rejuvenate your mental palate, in turn helping
you focus on academics. Hobbies could include anything that fascinates youreciting
poetry, singing, dancing, painting or indoor and outdoor games.
It is also important to know that mentioning hobbies in your CV or cover letter can land
you a job. No one wants to hire a person who doesnt pursue some hobbies. Today, the job
market has become extremely competitive, which makes it difficult to crack interviews.
Your hobbies could give the company an insight into your personality and essential skills.
And that is the reason 75% of IITians prefer chasing hobbies over academics. For
instance, if you are the captain of the cricket team in your college, it speaks volumes
about your leadership skills and go-getter attitude.
IIT is a hub of resources and opportunities, so you have to choose your magic beans that
can help you relax, enjoy and give impetus to your career. Here is a list of interesting
hobbies you can develop in IITs
Learn a foreign language:

Language is a great way to eliminate the communication gap and dissolve the cultural
barriers. By learning a foreign language, you will be able to show prospective employees
that you enjoy learning new things. It certainly creates a positive impression and makes
the recruiter feel that you will be able to fit into a multicultural setting.
Maintain a blog:

If you enjoy writing, there is no better hobby than creating a blog. Plus, it reflects well on
you, letting the interviewer gauge your grasp of the language and intelligence. It helps the
employer see what drives and motivates you. Blogs are always a great way of
channelizing your creativity.
Play team sports:

A team sport is fun; it keeps you active and healthy. Also, a prospective employer will see
you as a team player, who can interact with people with different personality types.

Start a society:

This is a wonderful way to show some initiative and your ability to manage a large group
of people. It helps individuals develop their personal and team skills. Whether its setting
a schedule for fun things, creating a dress code for certain days or having monthly gettogethers, it lets you have fun and grow as a person.
Volunteering:

You will be learning certain key skills, such as managing and handling people from
different backgrounds by volunteering for various events in your college. Employers will
appreciate the fact that you volunteer and manage your time well to take up an unpaid
position.
Hobbies keep your mind occupied and have a calming effect. They help youbreak free
from a stressful life and lower inhibitions. These hobbies of IITians also help them get a
better perspective about the world. Basically, developing hobbies is just as essential part
of your personality as getting discipline.

It is less than a year left now for the preparations of JEE 2017 and it will be getting hectic
for all of its aspirants. There must be too many formulae, methods, equations to
remember till now. Syllabus must be on the verge of completion. Now its the time to use
the remaining one year wisely in order to eat the fruits of the trees which were planted a
year ago.
It is quite inevitable that all of you must have tried attempting 2016 question papers with
full excitement. This must have given a brief idea about where you might land after one
year. There still must be many areas where you all need to work harder. If you make those
areas stronger, then it is certainly possible to achieve your goals. Everyone know there are
two levels JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Both the exams are very different from one
another, syllabus being almost the same.
There are lessons you need to take forward from JEE 2016, to better prepare for JEE
2017.

JEE 2017 Lessons To Take From JEE 2016

JEE MAINS
1.

Focus CBSE Books for Mains

The questions asked in this exam are normally not too difficult but certainly not formula
based. The questions are moderate and strictly follow CBSE Textbooks as far as syllabus
is concerned. They give equal importance to 11th Standard as well as 12th Standard
syllabus. So, you certainly cannot neglect 11th topics.

2.

Preparing for topics not in JEE Advanced

If you are preparing for advanced primarily, then you must be having an idea that there
are certain topics in the syllabus of Mains which are not in Advanced. Such topics must
be done only during Boards preparation because there is no point in studying them for
Advanced. However you cannot neglect them for these topics are marks giver in JEE
Mains.

3.

Choose Online or Offline wisely

According to me, there is no much difference between online or offline mode of exam.
However choose it wisely if you are aiming for IIT (JEE Advanced). Each and every
single day is important for your preparations. The more days you get for preparation of
Advanced, the more important it is. This year there was a gap of almost one week
between the offline exam and first online exam. So it was recommended to give offline so
that they get one more week for the Advanced preparations. However, if this gap is of
one or two days then the decision is up to you. The pros and cons of both the modes are
mentioned here.

4.

Time Management
Since you have to solve 90 questions in 180 minutes, ideally you have only 2 minutes for
each question. Thus managing time is really important in this exam. You should maintain
a proper pace right from starting of the exam. You cannot waste your time thinking only
on one question for much longer time. You have to move ahead if you cannot solve a
particular question or options doesnt match. That doesnt mean you should leave the
question directly if you cannot solve it in your first try. For this it is advisable to solve a
few question papers within the time limit and analyze your pace and work on it.
JEE ADVANCED

1.

Be ready for surprises (Advanced)

When you get your question paper, the first important thing to do is analyzing the
marking scheme. JEE 2017 was full of surprises in this aspect! The marking scheme, total
number of marks changes almost every year. This change will definitely surprise you
during the actual exam. The next important thing is instant planning of how to solve the
paper. Initially the question paper may sometime mislead you. Pranav Rao, who got an
AIR 26 in JEE Advanced, said he was very happy after seeing only 54 questions (only 18
questions each subject) in paper 1. But he realized later how they were built!

2.

Be ready for new questions

JEE Advanced is popular for setting brand new questions every year. You will hardly find
any repetitive question from past papers. In order to tackle such questions, your must be
conceptually strong. You should solve as much as possible. You should solve questions of
10 types rather than 10 questions of same type. Prepare your own notes which will save
your time for reference rather than referring books for the same. Do as much self study as
possible. Solve your doubts with peers.
3.

Accuracy
Accuracy is a really an important factor in JEE Advanced. Every correct and incorrect
question matters. 10 marks may create a difference of 1000 ranks sometimes. This
accuracy will come with proper time management. You can solve questions with no
negative marking first and then move ahead. Sometimes it is better to leave some
questions completely if you find it time consuming or too difficult.
Lastly I would say, currently you have 11 months in your hand. Use it wisely. Be a
conceptually stronger person. Improve your weaknesses and make your strengths
stronger. JEE 2017 wont be such an un-scaleable task for you then!
Keep solving problems!

EXAMSJEE ADVANCEDPREPARATION

Can I crack JEE Advanced without coaching? It is absolutely normal to have this
seemingly ambitious question. Every JEE aspirant ponders over it while deciding whether
he can crack JEE Advanced without coaching. The fact, however, is that most aspirants
join a coaching class to prepare. Do most aspirants who qualify do that? It seems not very
obvious.
In recent years, increasingly, IIT-entrants tend to report a focus on self-study. They say,
self-study gives a more flexible and relaxed time table for preparation and revision. The
major reason for this upcoming trend in JEE preparation is the commercialization of
coaching institutes and providing a one size fits all solution to JEE preparation. Those
who crack JEE Advanced eventually, learn at a much faster pace than others and with the
batch sizes increasing to accommodate more people, there is an increasing divide within
these batches which harms both the slow and fast learners.

JEE Advanced without

coaching? How?
So, heres what you should consider doing if you decide to go the trendy way and
relinquish yourself from the burden of coaching!

No skipping school:
I know how ridiculous that sounds. But it is important in many ways. If you attend all the
classes and all the labs, however hollow, youll at least be familiar with boards syllabus.
You can have discussions with teachers, if good, and friends who attend coaching ( they
mostly wont have time after school ).

Select the exams youll take very carefully:

You need not appear for every engineering entrance exam that is conducted. You should
go through the syllabus and apply for only those whose syllabus orient well with JEE.
That will keep you focused on your goal.

No Resnick-Halliday, Irodov and other scary

names:
Your friends and even some teachers will tell you to solve these books. NOT NEEDED!

Interact with IITians:

Keep in touch with the students who have cleared JEE so that you can get a better
guidance. They will let you know about Dos and Donts for JEE. Definitely, good
guidance is needed to secure a decent score in JEE.

Use your Toppr App:

Toppr.coms goal driven adaptive platform, created to help students prepare for JEE can
be an asset especially for self studying aspirants as they would find this platform much
more useful because they can plan their exam prep which is usually done by coaching
institutes. Enroll for our test series to gauge your academic standing in a controlled
environment. You can also clear your doubts on Topprs forum.

Study smart:
Study for 3-4 hours per day, on weekdays, with sufficient gaps in between. Try to double
that on weekends. Be regular and try to match your syllabus with your coaching friends.
Follow a timetable to utilize your time in the best way. Solve more and more problems,
discover more and more new tricks (on your own). Make your notes for the topics in
which you are weak. This will help you to perform well in exam.

Use internet to your academic advantage:

Nothing can ever substitute a good teacher or a good book. But you can always
supplement your teacher and book with the available technology. And there are plenty
of apps in for candidates preparing for JEE.

Previous years papers:

As you finish your topics, try to solve the related questions that have already been asked
in JEE. No matter how many questions youve solved from different sources, youll never
get a bigger boost as the one after solving a few previously asked questions.

Correspondence Course:
These days, every good coaching institute has a correspondence course. Find a few, how
through them and then, sign up for one. I dont particularly recommend buying a second
hand set, if finance isnt a problem. They send one packet of study material, and practice
questions every month. Go through the study material, and then solve all the practice
questions (by yourself). They have practice tests, and mock exams, and other such things.
Some of them would even send back corrected copies, if you send them your answers to
their practice questions.

Study buddies:
This one is very tricky. If you have good friends who can improve you academically,
group-studying might not be such a bad idea. Working with a competitive study group can
goes a very long way in the successful preparation of IIT-JEE. Group discussion with
teachers and fellow students can recreate a cooperative environment to refine your
preparations. But if your meetings begin to turn into futile gossip, you know you need to
pull the plug.

Board exams:
About 2-3 months before the 12th board exams, stop JEE studies entirely and switch to
studying only for the board exams. After the board exams, youll have about a month of
revising for the JEE Advanced.

You might have heard a lot of people saying Time is the most important resource. Well,
we couldnt agree more! Time management is the most crucial tool to succeed. We bring

you the most important time management hacks that will help you become more efficient
in your preparation for exams and life.
Picture this! Its midnight. Youre brushing your teeth and recollecting how the day went.
And youre disappointed. You started the day on a positive note: planned to hit the gym,
study for the upcoming test, clean up your room to make your mother happy, and find
some time to meet your friends in the evening. Of course, none of those things happened.
The situation sounds familiar, isnt it?
Lets rewind a bit. You woke up late, started browsing through your Facebook timeline.
After you checked your emails and Twitter account, you finally manage to have breakfast
while watching TV aimlessly. By the time you start your laptop to play your favorite
game or watch videos on YouTube, you have no memory of what you had set out to
accomplish. And the vow that follows is tomorrow! And the next day brings more of
the same, and it goes on and on and on.
We need a trick. There are several ways you can undo this pattern and make a difference
in your life.
Spend 10 minutes a day to plan what you will be doing over the next 10 hours! Planning
is the most important segment of time management. Research says that every 1 minute
you spend in planning; you will save 10 minutes in execution. So, 1 minute = 10 minutes
= 1 hour and 40 minutes! Sounds amazing, right?
If you could just get an extra half-hour a day through effective planning, you wouldve 22
more days to utilize per year. Abraham Lincoln once said, If I had 60 minutes to cut
down a tree, I would spend 40 minutes sharpening the axe and 20 minutes cutting it
down. Dale Carnegie told a similar story of two woodcutters. One woodcutter worked
hard all day, took no break, and only stopped briefly for lunch. The other chopper took
several breaks during the day and a short nap at lunch. At the end of the day, the
woodsman who had taken no break was quite disturbed to see that the other chopper had
cut more wood than he had. He said, I dont understand. Every time I looked around,
you were sitting down, yet you cut down more wood than I did. His companion asked,
Did you also notice that while I was sitting down, I was sharpening my axe?

Wise men call planning as sharpening the axe. You have to spend some time to make
more time. Rather than coiling your head at night with disappointment, why not plan your
day before it begins?
To start with, create a to-do list. But the list is not a challenge, it is the execution. How
can you stick to a plan when so many things act as a hindrance? How can you focus on a
few important things when so many things require your attention? The solution is to learn
the art of prioritizing. To focus on the priorities and accomplish them in the order of
importance is crucial.
Most of us look at our to-do list, determine which task to knock out and decide to start
that important thing in a while. Then mornings lapses to the afternoon. What happens
next? Youre either too tired or a crisis comes up that demands your attention, and you
dont accomplish anything that day. When you get late for a task, you will always have
something else to do instead. Intellectuals call it tyranny of urgency.
A day is productive if you manage to do at the least two of the planned things thoroughly
out of ten. As Mark Twain quotes, If its your job to eat a frog, its best to do it first thing
in the morning. And if its your job to eat two frogs, its best to eat the biggest one first.
Identify your frog and dont waste a moment!
No one needs to tell you how important it is to manage time for exam preparation. We
hope you use these tricks and emerge victorious.

The year is coming to a close and closer is the examination dates approaching. Hopefully
you have buckled up your seat-belts and are trying to keep up with the 6-month plan
brought to you earlier. While you brush up the loose ends of tough concepts, a need for an
efficient revision plan to start wrapping your preparation springs up. You must be
completely thorough with all the formulas and concepts, but absorbing and retaining the
vast syllabus that JEE provides, especially over the period of two years, is a Herculean
task. It is very human to forget certain concepts which you dont get to use more or apply
in further chapters and forget them as a result. Hence, you need a revision plan as you
near the end.

JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced: An Efficient Revision Plan:

Revision Frequency:

As the next year begins, start revising at least 3-4 chapters (the more the better) per
subject per week. Make sure this goes hand in hand with the numericals you are revisiting
or test series you are attempting. This way, you will cover a tremendous amount of
syllabus within 3 months, that is, till March. Try and cover more from JEE-Main point of
view because its exam is held in the month of April and that you will get sufficient time
after it for revising more chapters for JEE-Advanced. How to crack JEE Main?
The Formula Notebook:

You cant afford to revisit a revised chapter few weeks before the examination. But there
is always a feeling for the need to go through the formulas one last time. This problem
has a simple key: Start maintaining a formula notebook that has purely formulas for
your reference. As you revise the chapters for the last time, write down all the important

formulas, especially those which are tough to remember or you havent used a lot. This
way, when you are done with all the chapters, you just have to go through this notebook
which will contain all the necessary formulas enlisted for you.
Revisiting tougher concepts:

There are always specific topics and concepts in every chapter, which require more
attention and time on the part of students, and more pondering. When you come across
them while revision, try to analyze whether you stand at a better understanding than last
you read the concept. If you feel satisfied with your knowledge of the concept, you can
safely move ahead, but if you are unsure, try to find problems and questions based on that
concept. The key to cracking JEE is building a strong base and leaving no stone unturned.
Practice more questions on that topic, take help from teachers and other textbooks and
move ahead only when you have mastered it.
Concepts involving Laboratory topics:

Chapters such as Qualitative and Quantitative analysis, demand you to be thorough on

Laboratory concepts. These chapters get neglected while preparation and hence you must
not ignore them while revision and cover them on the way. Familiarize yourself with the
various methods and processes involved and how they are carried out in the lab,
especially for Quantitative analysis.
Revision to preparation is what the roof is to building a house: An indispensable part. You
might have had come across a few rough edges while preparing for the exams but you can
even beat the odds by revising the syllabus efficiently. All the best!
