Should MacTemps attempt to increase the commitment of temps to the firm?

What is the
value of temp loyalty?
MacTemps currently is functioning on a unique system of depending on a pool of available
temps for the company without having any binding commitment from the temps to work on
assigned projects. Hence making the system a highly voluntary system. Thus getting them to
stay committed will not make much of a difference in the number of calls required to be
made to find a suitable employee.
In this system, the recruiting costs includes that of advertising for the available job offers and
selecting the temps thro ugh interviews, written tests etc. processes. It spends around
$244000 on these heads.
Cost of benefits are $219/week which turns out to be *** per year
The temps do not see the benefits as an attractive proposal as the maximum of temps in a
particular category availing benefits is not more than 35% of the eligible temps.
Also looking at the pool, with only 5% of temps looking at the job as a permanent career
option and rest working on a temporary basis to meet ends it will not be beneficial to provide
long term incentives for the temps
