Abstract
Agroforestry development is really needed nowadays, agroforestry will decrease natural damage
effect which occurs due to slackening of forest areas which is caused by converting natural forest into
agricultural land. This research aims to reviewing slope stability which is suitable for agroforestry
development.
This research was done by observing the geological condition in the field and doing laboratory
analyzes to determine slope stability condition. Observation in the field includes taking sample of
undisturbed soil, permeability data and also lithology observation, whereas laboratory analyzes includes
physical and mechanical soil test, permeability test and slope modeling by using software Slide 6.0.
The result of analyzes shows that all those slopes are unstable. Range of FK values of whole
slopes are about 0.666 1.05 where the biggest FK value is located in Klegen village (1.05) and the
lowest FK value is located in Sudimiro village (0.666). Research area is dominated by soil which is
coming from volcanic breccia weathered from Merbabu volcanic deposit. Based on the permeability, it is
known that the soil of slope material is fine sand which has permeability value average 0.308. This
material could release water well so that it is able to increase water content and weight of slope. They
cause the bottom of slope becoming saturated water and it affects to the top of slope ability in holding
force. Based on the result of this research then the vegetation which is suitable for this slopes area is
primary root plant.
