Guidelines for the 10th Annual

Project Design Competition

(February 27 March 2, 2013)

OBJECTIVE:

The competition aims to develop the students technical skills and

talents, as well as exhibit their ingenuity in creating a prototype. This
competition is deemed to be the forerunner for future research endeavours in
the School of EE-EcE-CpE in different Universities and Colleges within Metro
Manila.

ELIGIBILITY:
The following are eligible to join the Project Design Competition:

All bonafide students of the EE-EcE-CpE Department of Universities or

Colleges within Metro Manila.
With the participation of maximum of two (2) faculty members in the
School of EE-EcE-CpE (optional).

CONDITION OF THE CONTEST:

The competition may be participated in by individuals or groups. A

group shall be composed of a maximum of five (5) members. Project designs
may fall under any of these categories, considering they are in the field of EEEcE-CpE:

Stand-alone project design

Computer-interfaced project designs
Product development designs

The team can pass more that one (1) entry. If ever the entry did not meet the
qualifications, the team can still pass another entry on, or before the deadline
for pre-judging.

JUDGING:

Judges for the competition will come from the academe of different
Universities or Colleges.

Judging is scheduled on March 2, 2013

The finalists will be given a 15-minute presentation of their work
(Power Point Presentation).

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

INNOVATION/CREATIVITY/ORIGINALITY (40%)

Innovation (10%)

Modernism of the design

- How advance is the idea of the prototype?

Creativity (10%)

Inventiveness and resourcefulness of the designers

- Is the design artistic and imaginative?

Originality (20%)

Uniqueness of the design and idea

- Are there similar designs with the existing ones?

TECHNICAL DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION (40%)

Complexity of Technical Design (20%)

- Overall circuitry of the design
- How complex is the circuitry and/or construction of the
project?

Construction (20%)
The manner in which the components were arranged and
integrated
- Is the construction implemented in the most effective manner?

OVERALL PRESENTATION (20%)

Documentation (10%)
Completeness of the Document

Presentation (10%)
The general appearance of the design and how it is being
presented

FINAL DOCUMENTATION:

Final documentation must be submitted in both hard and soft copies

(including the Power Point Presentation) on February 25, 2013. It must contain
the following information:

Abstract (not exceeding 500 words)
Detailed Block Diagram and complete Schematic Diagram of the
design

Event Objective:
The Mapua Institute of Technology Student Branch of the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. a research based organization, will hold a
competition which aims to develop the students technical skills and talents, as well as
exhibit their ingenuity in creating a prototype. The innovations that will be showcased
by the qualified entries in this event are deemed to be fore to be the forerunner for
future research endeavors in the School of EE-ECE-CoE in different Universities and
Colleges within Metro Manila.

Eligibility of Participants:
The following are eligible to join the 10th Annual Project Design
