Flange dialog for applicable flange types. In addition, the ASME B16.5/16.47 fl
ange's parent component now considers the flange hub thickness in PWHT and MDMT
determinations. [56127]
Consider external loadings switch
The Consider external loadings on flange MAWP rating option in the Selec
t ASME B16.5/16.47 Flange dialog is now active by default for new body flanges o
n vertical vessels. In addition, a warning is now presented in the Deficiencies
Summary report when external loads are present but the option is not active. [55
983]
Identifier of attached component is now reported
The identifier of the attached component and location is now reported in
the echo section of ASME B16.5/B16.47 body flanges. [56528]

A longitudinal joint efficiency input is now available for the large cen
tral opening in the Appendix 14 dialog. [55627]
Nozzles with welded and seamless product forms
Appendix 14 nozzles constructed of a welded and seamless product forms m
ay now be calculated as the welded product form by deselecting the Seamless Prod
uct Form option and entering the required nozzle joint efficiency. Previously, w
elded and seamless product forms were always calculated as seamless. [55626]
Appendix 2 Flanges
Hydrotest stress
The governing stress during hydrostatic or pneumatic testing is now the
largest of the ratio of SH, SR, ST, (SH+SR)/2, or (SH+ST)/2 to allowable, where
the hub stress allowable is 1.5*%yield*Sy, and the allowable for all other stres
ses is %yield*Sy. Previously, the governing stress was specified as the largest
ratio of (Max(SR,ST) + SH) or SH to allowable. [55196]
Rigidity Factor recommended value check
The second page of the Flange dialog now includes a check which offers t
o correct the Rigidity Factor to the suggested Code value when the Flange Type i
s changed from loose to integral and vice versa. A warning is now presented in t
he Deficiencies Summary report when the flange Rigidity Factor does not match th
e recommended value. [54675]
Clip/Lug
Copy last now available for clips and lugs
A new Copy Existing Clip/Lug button is located on the Clips/Lugs dialog
to copy parameters from any existing clips or lugs on the vessel. [4641]
Custom Flanges
Minimum reporting now available
A minimum reporting option is now available for custom flanges in Set Mo
de Options -> Reporting -> General -> Component Minimum Reports. When this optio
n is active, custom flange reports only report the Stress Summary, Bolt Summary,
and Rigidity Summary. [55788]

Summary tables added

The tables Stress Summary, Bolt Summary, and Rigidity Summary are now av
ailable in custom flange reports. [55764]
Cylinders
Pipe minimum thickness added to echo section
Cylinders constructed from pipe materials now include a Pipe Minimum Thi
ckness line inside of the echo section of the report. This is a reporting change
only as the pipe tolerance was already considered in the detailed calculations.
Pipe tolerance may be turned off by entering Set Mode Options -> Calculation ->
General 2 and activating the Cylindrical shells made form pipe are entered as m
inimum thickness option inside of Material Thickness Options. [7620]
UG-28(c) reporting improvements
The yield stress for a Do / t ratio less than 10 is twice the B value fr
om the vacuum chart per UG-28(c)(2)(b). The determination of the yield stress is
now reported in the maximum allowable external pressure section of the cylinder
report. [55649]
Dished Covers
Material Properties buttons now available
Separate Material Properties buttons for the dished cover and dished cov
er flange are now available in the Dished Covers dialog. [56402]
Elbow Connections
Elbow Connections option for nozzles
The option to add elbow connections to nozzles is now available. These c
onnections may consist of an ASME B16.9 elbow, pipe spools, as well as attached
ASME B16.5/16.47 flanges. The elbow connection feature can be accessed from the
Nozzle menu option, using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F2, or from the Elbow Conne
ctions button in the nozzle dimensions dialog.
Highlights of the new design feature include:
The connection to the nozzle may consist of a single pipe, a single
elbow, a pipe with an elbow attached, or an elbow with a pipe attached.
Available elbow types are from ASME 16.9 and include i) Long Radius
90, ii) Short Radius 90 iii) Long Radius 45 iv) Long Radius increasing and reducing
.
The available material list for the elbow is limited to the material
s listed in ASME 16.9. The User Defined Material option may be used but is limit
ed to fitting product forms.
The total unsupported length of the nozzle connection assembly is de
termined based on the actual lengths of the individual components. Any flanges i
ncluded in the assembly are considered as lines of support. An option to specify
a custom unsupported length is available in order to account for additional pip
ing that may be connected to the vessel.
Default settings may be specified on the new Set Mode -> General ->
Elbow Connections page. This includes a switch to include elbow connections past
the first seam as defined in ASME VIII Division 1 paragraph U-1(e)(1) and Secti
on VIII Division 2 paragraph 1.2.3(a) in the vessel scope. When this switch is n
ot active the vessel scope is determined based on the first flanged joint (U-1(e
)(1)(c)); if no flange joint exists, the vessel scope is taken to the first circ
umferential seam (U-1(e)(1)(a)).
[53005]
Forms
Flat heads with large single circular central openings
Flat heads with large single circular central openings are now automatic
ally populated in the appropriate tables inside ASME Forms. [55559]

General
Enhancements to main window style
Highlights of the new main window style include:
Additional colors are available by selecting Background Color in the
Window menu item.
The Project Window supports the dockable pane feature, allowing the
options to float, close, hide, and dock to the main window.
Toolbars now support docking and scale with magnification.
Tooltips display icons when available.
The Status Bar provides helpful tips when hovering over buttons.
[53160]
Bolts now recognized by unique identifiers
Bolts are now internally recognized by unique identifiers rather than by
bolt nominal size. Previously, bolts with an identical nominal size but potenti
ally different characteristics could mistakenly override intentional selections.
[5686]
Design pressure only now permitted in rating mode
All maximum pressure option switches on the Set Mode Options -> General
1 page may now be deactivated when in rating mode. This allows the rating mode t
o be utilized to review a design at the input internal and/or external design pr
essure values. Previously, at least one of the maximum pressure option switches
had to be active. [55827]
General Arrangement Dwg
Dished covers
Dished covers are now displayed in the General Arrangement Drawing. [579
9]
Lift lugs located on transitions
Lift lugs located on concentric transitions now correctly follow the ang
le of the transition in the General Arrangement Drawing. [5997]
Stiffening rings
Stiffening rings are now displayed with dimensions in the General Arrang
ement Drawing. [5916]
Hydrotest Corroded
Shop test note no longer reported
The note "The shop test condition has not been investigated for the Cham
ber bounded by xx and yy" is no longer reported in the Corroded Test Report. Pre
viously, the Corroded Test Report always reported this note for each chamber, wh
ich caused confusion as the shop test condition is examined in the Test Report.
[54328]
Legs
Oblique direction now considered
For pipe support legs specified with an eccentricity of zero, the obliqu
e direction between the legs is now investigated for wind and seismic loads. [56
229]
Lift Lugs
Calculation no longer performed for tail lugs off of perpendicular
A deficiency is reported and tail lug calculations are no longer perform
ed when the tail lug location is more than 10 off of perpendicular to the trunnio
n or top ear lug location. This angle is not considered in the tail lug analysis
. [56345]

Long Seams
Support skirts and intermediate skirts with skirt openings
The Adjust Starting Angle of each Shell Course to avoid Attachments and
Adjacent Seams option inside of the Long Seam Wizard dialog now considers suppor
t skirts and intermediate skirts with skirt openings. [53118]
MDMT
MDMT rating of variable thickness nozzles
Independent MDMT ratings are now determined for the heavy barrel and noz
zle neck sections of Type 9 and Type 10 nozzles for carbon and low alloy steel m
aterials. Previously, the MDMT rating was conservatively based on the governing
thickness at the shell intersection coupled with the stress ratio at the thin en
d when the vessel s stress ratio was not used per ASME Interpretation VIII-1-01-37
. This could have resulted in impact testing when not required. [7021]
Nozzle Schedule
Heads and welded covers now included
Heads and welded covers attached to nozzles are now included in the Nozz
le Schedule report. These attachments are listed under the same drawing mark as
the parent nozzle. [56391]
Nozzle Summary
Pipe mill tolerance note
The Nozzle Summary report now displays a note in the Definitions table i
ndicating that the 12.5% pipe thickness tolerance is accounted for in the nozzle
required thickness value when any nozzles are made from pipe material. This not
e does not appear and the mill tolerance is not considered when the Set Mode Opt
ions -> Nozzles -> Nozzles made from pipe are entered as minimum thickness optio
n is active. [5149]
Nozzles
ASME B16.5/16.47 flange connections with heads attached to a nozzles
The option to add a mating ASME B16.5/16.47 flange connection with a hea
d at the nozzle free end circumferential seam is now available. If an ASME B16.5
/16.47 flange is already attached to a nozzle, the mating flange will automatica
lly be added to the new head. If an ASME B16.5/16.47 flange is added to an exist
ing nozzle with a closure head already in place, a pair of mating flanges is add
ed. The mating flange is an exact copy of the nozzle flange and is specified in
the Select ASME B16.5/16.47 Flange dialog inside of the Nozzle dialog. [55246]
Maximum pressure options on the General 1 page of the Set Mode Options d
ialog now apply to nozzles
The nozzle calculation settings are simplified by using the maximum pres
sure options on the General 1 page of the Set Mode Options dialog. This avoids c
omplications when the maximum pressure calculation options on both the General 1
and Nozzles pages were in conflict. The design option Design P, Find Nozzle MAW
P&MAP as well as the Rate Nozzles for options are no longer available on the Noz
zles page. Nozzle maximum pressures are now calculated based solely on the optio
n(s) selected on the General 1 page. The Reporting page is now more flexible and
allows nozzle calculations to be reported at design pressure, maximum pressure,
or both. [56317]
Available nozzles when adding heads
Nozzles with attached heads are no longer listed in the Select Nozzle di
alog when a new head is added to the vessel. [56061]
Circumferential seams at the end of nozzles is now considered in MDMT an
d PWHT governing thickness
The circumferential seams at the end of nozzles are now considered in de
termining the governing thickness for MDMT and PWHT requirements for carbon and

low alloy steel materials. If there is no attachment at the end of the nozzle, t
he circumferential seam is still ignored for determining the governing thickness
for PWHT. Previously, only the nozzle intersection with the shell was considere
d. [55840]
Division 2 rules now used as a U-2(g) analysis for the external pressure
condition when Rn/R > 0.7
For a large opening with a Rn / R ratio greater than 0.7, the Division 2
rules are now automatically used as a U-2(g) analysis for the external pressure
design condition when the ASME 2013 Edition is selected and the option switch U
se Appendix 1-10 for large opening is active in the Nozzle Calculation Options d
ialog. Previously, a deficiency was reported indicating a U-2(g) analysis is req
uired. [53911]
Internal pressure calculations using Appendix 1-2 formulas
The option to calculate nozzles under internal pressure using the Append
ix 1-2 formulas is now available by activating the Force Appendix 1-2 formulas f
or nozzle calculations option inside of the Set Mode Options -> Calculations ->
Nozzles page. [56001]
Longitudinal seam now considered in MDMT and PWHT governing thickness fo
r plate product form
The longitudinal seam of nozzles constructed from plate is now considere
d in determining the governing thickness for MDMT and PWHT requirements for carb
on and low alloy steel materials. Previously, only the nozzle intersection with
the shell was considered. [7022]
Material Properties button added
Material Properties buttons for the nozzle and pad material are now avai
lable in the Nozzle dialog. [55320]
MDMT rating no longer considered in determing nozzle MAWP
The MDMT rating is no longer considered when determining the MAWP rating
of a nozzle. The nozzle MDMT is now always calculated at the chamber MAWP. Prev
iously, the nozzle MAWP was decreased, if required, to satisfy the design MDMT.
[56150]
Minimum pipe and tube thicknesses reported
The nominal thickness of pipes and tubes adjusted for pipe tolerance is
now reported in the echo section of nozzle reports for nozzle Type 1 through Typ
e 8 constructed from pipe or tube that is not entered as minimum thickness. [560
28]
Tangential nozzles inserted through cylinder walls
The maximum Offset CL to CL, Lo for offset nozzles inserted through cyli
nder walls now allows for the inner radius of the nozzle to be tangent with the
inner radius of the cylinder. In Build 7500, the largest offset allowed was for
the outer radius of the nozzle to be tangent with the inner radius of the cylind
er due to a calculation issue. [55745]
Saddles
Base plate width sanity check
A dialog sanity check in the Saddle Design Screen 2 dialog now ensures t
hat the Base Plate Width (F) is equal to or larger than the Saddle Width when th
e Web/Rib Style is set to Web at Edge. Files that do not pass this sanity check
will be automatically corrected upon loading. The increase in the base plate wid
th can affect the saddle base plate thickness check calculation. Previously, the
saddle web could be disconnected from the base plate. [4763]
Wear plate width sanity check

A dialog sanity check in the Saddle Design Screen 2 dialog now ensures t
hat the Wear Plate Width (Wp) is equal to or larger than the Base Plate Width (F
) when the Web/Rib Style is set to Web at Edge. Files that do not pass this sani
ty check will be automatically corrected upon loading. Previously, the saddle we
b could be disconnected from the wear plate. [56031]
Weight-only condition with wind present
The weight-only condition is now investigated when wind is present, exce
pt in the case of a Division I vessel with a UG-23(d) Stress Increase factor of
1. [51317]
Set Mode Options F7
Default material setting for ASME B16.9 fittings
The default material setting for ASME B16.9 pipe caps and elbows may now
be selected in Set Mode Options -> Defaults -> Elbow Connections under the B16.
9 Fitting Material dropdown. The available materials for B16.9 pipe caps and elb
ows are limited to the fitting materials in ASME B16.9. Previously, the default
material for pipe caps was set to SA-234 WPB. [55917]
