1. Executive Summary

This project report analyses the Balance of Payment(BOP) for BRIC countries. Balance of
Payment of a country is one of the important indicators for International trade, which
significantly affect the economic policies of a government.

Balance of Payments is a systematic and summary record of a country’s economic and financial
transactions with the rest of the world over a period of time.

Transactions in goods and services and income between an economy and the rest of the
world.

Changes of ownership and other changes in that country’s monetary gold, SDRs, and
claims on and liabilities to the rest of the world, and

Unrequited transfers and counterpart entries that are needed to balance, in the
accounting sense, any entries for the foregoing transactions and changes which are not
mutually offsetting.

The study is motivated by the fact that by 2050 the economic potential of Brazil, Russia, India
and China will surpass the economic potential of G6 countries (G7 including Canada).

Another major aspect of this study is analyzing the Balance of Payments of various BRIC
countries year wise and try to make a comparison of the growth path of these countries.

The study will also provide an in-depth view of Balance of Trade for the BRIC countries and the
components of Balance of Payment.

The graphical comparison will be done on the basis of five years data for BOPs. Studying these
last five years will also provide an insight on the situation of pre subprime crisis and during
subprime crisis time. This will provide an idea of Subprime impact on BRIC countries.

In the end , this report will be concluded by providing some strategies mainly for the growth of
India, used effectively by other BRIC countries.

The research methodology incorporated for this study is descriptive as well as graphical.
