A report on free medical check up camp

A free medical camp was conducted in Dolara, Mokara Taluk, Palghar district of
Maharashtra on October 19th 2016. It was organized by Dadar Mar Thoma Church, Mumbai. The
team consisted 2 doctors, 3 nursing staff, 2 attenders and members of the church committee. The
camp started at 10.00 am with felicitation by Mr Janrao Edupachi. There was a general health
talk by Dr Rukman Mecca and Dr Sophie Simon followed by a speech by the residing Sarpanch
expressing her concern about the ill health of the residents and her gratitude towards the
organizers and doctors for taking such an initiative.
The services provided by the camp were consultation, nursing care, free medicines, food
supplements and vitamin supplements. The organizers were Evangelist Mr Janrao Edupachi, Mrs
Sulochana, Rev Koshy, Mr Philip K , Mr Geevarghese. The staff members included Mrs Susan
Chacko, Mrs Susan Samuel and Mrs Daisy George.
Camp details
Around 70 people were benefited through this camp. There were separate counters for
Child malnutrition screening, antenatal check ups and general opd. Weight and height of each
child was recorded and assessed for any illnesses. Antenatal woman were screened for regular
antenatal checkups and those who failed were given tetanus toxoid and Folic acid supplements.
There were ---- patients who visited General Opd and were prescribed medicines accordingly.
Common ailments were fungal skin diseases, dental caries, ureteric colic, fever, chest pain and
anemia. The medicines provided by the camp free of cost were Paracetamol, ranitidine, Gelusil,
B-Complex vitamin, Calcium supplement, Amoxicillin clavulanic acid, Diclofenac and
albendazole. Food kit were supplied to those in need which consist of 5 kg milk powder, 2 kg
dal, 1 kg Bengal gram, 1 kg rice and biscuits. Those attendees who required further medical
attention were given referral slips to present at the concerned opds of the nearest hospital.
