How are genetically modified organism

made?
The glow fish is a patented and
trademarked brand of genetically
modified (gm) fluorescent fish. A variety
of different glow fish are currently on
the market. Its early development, the
original zebrafish is a native of rivers in
Bangladesh. The scientist from nus were
working with a gene that encodes the
green fluorescent protein (GFP)
originally extracted from a jellyfish, that
naturally produced bright green
fluorescence. They inserted the gene
into a zebrafish embryo, allowing it to
integrate into the zebrafish genome,
which caused the fish to be brightly
fluorescent under both natural white
light and ultraviolet light. Glow fish are

more vulnerable to predation compared

to the wild type.
2.

How are genetically modified organism

created?
A genetically engineered fish that glows green
from the inside out is helping illuminate what
pollutant do inside the body. The chemicals
mimic the actions of sexual hormones,
resulting in various reproductive problems in
both people and animals. Previous research
has shown the chemicals cause fish to change
gender, and in people, endocrine disruptors
have been associated with lower sperm
counts and breast and testicular cancers. Yet
scientist have had difficulty tracking what
endocrine disruptors do inside a person or
animals body. So a team genetically
engineered zebrafish to glow in places where
an endocrine disrupting chemical is present
and thus show where it may be harming the
body.

How are genetically modified organism

different from non- genetically modified
organism?

A genetically modified organism, is an

organism that has had it dna altered or
modified organism. This relatively science
creates unstable combinations of plant,
animal, bacteria and viral genes that do not
occur in nature or through traditional
crossbreeding methods. While nongenetically modified are novel organism
created in laboratory using genetic
modification /engineering techniques.
Scientist and consumer and environmental
groups have cited many health and
environmental risk with food containing.
4.

Process making genetically modified

organism?
Genetic modification involves mutation,
insertion, or deletion of genes. Inserted genes
usually come from a different species in a
form of horizontal- gene transfer.
Attaching the genes to a virus
Physical inserting the extra dna into the
nucleus of the intented host with a very small
syringe

With the use of electroporation (that is,

introducing dna from one organism into the
cell of another by use of an electric pulse)
With very small particles fired from a gene
gun.

Genetically modified organism facts.
Glow fish fluorescent fish are born brilliant.
They are not injected or dyed. They inherit
their harmless, lifelong color from their
parents and require the same care as any
other community. Glow fish are similar to
other fish, except they have much brighter
disposition. Glow fish are available in six
stunning colors: star fire red, electric green,
sunburst orange, cosmic blue, galactic purple,
and moonrise pink. Glow fish were originally
bred more than ten years ago to help detect
environmental pollutants. Fluorescent fish are
very common in nature. In fact, fluorescent
fish ca n be observed expressing vibrant
green, red and orange fluorescence patterns
across a very diverse range of species,
including more than 50 families.

Genetically modified organism definition.
A genetically modified organism also known
as a transgenic organism is any organism
whose genetic material has been altered
using genetic engineering techniques. The
term gmo is very close to the technical legal
term living modified organism.
7. Future plan for genetically modified
organism.
Commercial potential of biotechnology is
immense since the scope if this activity
covers the entire spectrum of human life. This
deliberate modification and the resulting
entities thereof have become the bone of
contention all over the world. Benefits aside,
genetically modified organism have always
been considered a threat to environment and
human health. It has been considered
necessary by biosafety regulations of
individual countries to test the feasibility of
gmo IN CONTAINED AND CONTROLLED
ENVIRONMENTS FOR ANY POTENTIAL RISKS
THE MAY POSE.

Gmo pros and cons.

pros:
Animal grow faster when they are genetically
modified.
Animals requires less food when they are
modified.
Animals develop new traits because of
chemicals
Modifying animals with the shot can prevent
the animals from developing viruses and
infections.
Cons:
Some people consider it as animal abuse.
It can possably harm the animals
Animals are not completely organic
It can possibly change genetic traits for the
offspring
People can get sick from eating the products.
