A. Course Description:
Interfacing concepts, data/address and control buses, address decoding, memory interface, /O
interfaces: Programmable Peripheral Interface (B2CSSA), _keyboard/display interface
(8279),Programmable Interval Timer (82C54), Serial Communication’ (16450/16550), ADC and DAC
converters. Interrupts and Programmable Interrupt Controller (82C59). Direct Memory Access (DMA
controller 8237). Bus interface: ISA, EISA, VESA, VESA local Bus, LPT, USB. Architecture of 80286 and
higher processors.
Microcontroller: Introduction, different families and their salient features. Detail study of any one of the
microcontroller series like 8051, PIC, ARM etc, their architecture, available RAM/FLASH/ROM,
instruction set and 1/0s.
