Mother Dairy Milk)
Mother Dairy has launched a new cow milk variant in Delhi at Rs 40 per litre. The company said it
plans to soon launch the product in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.
"There is a great demand for cow milk...we are currently supplying 50,000-60,000 litres of cow milk
per day in Delhi and would like to scale it to 1 lakh litres in the next 10-15 days," said Sandeep
Ghosh, business head for milk at Mother Dairy.
Ghosh said the new cow milk, which is light, digestive and nutritious, will be aimed at children aged 1
to 7 years. He said the milk is hygienic, homogenized, contains optimum fat (4% fat and 8.5% solid
not fat) and is packaged after several quality checks.
Ghosh said though the milk market is volatile, the company has no immediate plan to increase prices
of its products. "The farmer prices have firmed up, we are also paying higher than what we were
paying three months back, but we are in a position to absorb and not pass the burden to the
consumer," he said.
Mother Dairy (Delhi), milk and dairy products major, launched the Nolen Gur flavoured ice cream,
one of the most loved eastern region speciality. This regional delicacy from the eastern region has
been made available in the packaged branded format for the first time, offering consistent taste and

flavour as loved by the consumers. The newly launched variant will be available in both take home
(tubs) and single serve (cups) pack sizes.
Celebrating the auspicious occasion of 'Poila Boishakh' the newly launched Nolen Gur flavoured ice
cream was first introduced to a group of 25 underprivileged children from Muktakash, an NGO.
Mr. Subhashis Basu, Business Head - Dairy Products, Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable said, "As a
consumer driven company, Mother Dairy has always endeavoured to offer innovative and exciting
product range in various formats and flavours to entice consumption, meeting all their expectations. In
line with the same strategy, we have been focussing on crafting a portfolio of products that offers the
preferred traditional taste from the Eastern region. Our regional delicacy launch of Nolen Gur ice
cream is a treat to our Bengali community and their love for the flavour. I am confident that the newly
launched ice cream will appeal to consumers just like our Mishti Doi and Aam Doi."
Nolen Gur flavoured ice cream will be available in pack sizes of 750ml & 90ml and will be priced at
Rs 150/- & Rs 20/- respectively. The launch will be led by a series of consumer communications
through Outdoor, Radio, Print, Tram branding, digital mediums and BTL activations across key spots
in Kolkata. The newly launched range will be available across 3500+ point of sales including retailers,
vending carts, modern retails across the eastern region.

income.
Mother Dairy, which supplies about 30 lakh litres of milk in the national capital region, had posted a
turnover of Rs 7,186 crore during last fiscal, out of which about 75 per cent was from dairy segment.
"We are tying up with e-commerce companies like Big Basket to increase our reach to the customers.
We also want to improve farmers' income through increased procurement of milk and fresh fruits and
vegetables," Mother Dairy Managing Director S Nagarajan told PTI.
The company has tied up with nine e-tailers - Big Basket, Grofers, AskMe Grocery, Sangam Direct,
SRS Grocery, Just Buy Live, Innerchef, Grocermax and Orange E-Tokri - for sale of dairy products,
ice-cream and frozen/fresh fruits and vegetables in different cities.
"Mother Dairy is witnessing a growth of 10 per cent in sales month-on-month through e-commerce
space," he said.
Asked whether the company would launch its own e-commerce platform, Nagarajan said: "We do not
want to enter into that space directly".
On expected turnover this fiscal, Nagarajan said it should be close to Rs 8,000 crore.
As part of the expansion plan, Mother Dairy is setting up a processing plant in Ranchi at a cost of Rs
75 crore.

The pulp and concentrate line, which has a capacity of 20,000 tonnes per annum of finished products,
is expected to be operational by January next year, he said, adding that the plant would be fully
operational next fiscal.
Mother Dairy was commissioned in 1974 as a wholly- owned subsidiary of the National Dairy
Development Board (NDDB).
The company sells milk and milk products including ice creams, paneer and ghee under the 'Mother
Dairy' brand. It is into edible oil business under Dhara brand. Moreover, it sells frozen vegetables,

to the Nation.
Hemant Dua, CEO of Delhi Daredevils stated, "I am confident that with their (Mother Dairy) support,
Delhi Daredevils, with the exciting new additions to our squad will be able to give our fans a lot to

to bond with today's generation. We wish the team all the best for the upcoming season."

Corporate Social Responsibility

Mother Dairy today said it will sell jute bags at its milk booths and Safal retail stores in the national
capital region as part of its green initiative to discourage the usage of plastic bags.

The jute carry bags will be sourced from Bird Jute and Exports Ltd, a public sector undertaking under
the Ministry of Textiles.
The jute carry bags will be priced at Rs 25 in the milk booths, while a larger size, suitable for carrying
vegetables and groceries, will be available at Safal outlets for Rs 34.
This 'green initiative' was unveiled by Union Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar in the
presence of Mother Dairy officials at a ceremony here today.
"By offering jute carry bags to our consumers at a nominal cost, we not only address the need for an

environment-friendly alternative of carry bags but also benefit millions of our farmers engaged in
cultivation of jute," Mother Dairy MD S Nagarajan said in a statement.
: Leading milk supplier Mother Dairy today said it will pay farmers Rs 2 more on every litre procured
during this summer but ruled out any increase in retail prices for at least next two months.
At the beginning of this month, Mother Dairy was procuring milk at an average Rs 37-37.50 per litre
from farmers in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
"I do not expect retail prices to go up in the next 60 days. But we will have to pay more to farmers
during summer. There has been an impact on farmers due to drought in many parts of the country,"
Mother Dairy Managing Director S Nagarajan told reporters here.
He said the company will increase the milk procurement price for farmers by Rs 2 per kg to ensure
that the availability of stock with the company does not get affected during summer.
"In summer, temperature goes up and that affects supply. Moreover, there is marriage season. So, we
will pay more to farmers to maintain our milk procurement," Nagarajan said.
Mother Dairy sells about 35 lakh litres per day, of which 30 lakh litres is in Delhi-NCR. It has about
800 milk booths and nearly 400 stores in the national capital region.
