Meal Plan:
Dinner for the first night
1 x dinner for first day of travel - food for lunch can be bought on the drive
17 days of full meals (Breakfast/ Lunch and Dinner)
Last Day on walk - Breakfast and Lunch
Last day travelling home - Breakfast
3 x emergency meals 1 for each section of the walk
Fire ban meals capacity to not cook them (possible substation would be a lunch)
All groups will stop in Jindabyne on the last night purchase dinner here.
You will need a minimum of seven nights food in your pack when you start plus an
emergency meal.
Your first food drop needs to have 5 dinners and an emergency meal.
Second food drop needs to have at least 6 actual nights and one emergency equals 7
The contents of your food drop will need to be prepared and packed prior to leaving
Bendigo and should contain items that are non-perishable.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your food drop contents are packaged securely
for transportation and protection from animals during storage, and labelled in terms
of (i) walk group leader and (ii) food drop location, prior to leaving Bendigo.
Cardboard fruit boxes (or boxes of a similar size) are recommended for packaging
food for the drops. As space in the food drop trailers is tight, students must organise
food drops in pairs and limit packaging to one (1) box of food per pair per food drop.
