ABSTRACT
Management Information System (MIS) provides information for
the managerial activities in an organization. The main purpose of
this research is, Information System provides accurate and timely
information necessary to facilitate the decision-making process
and enable the organizations planning, control, and operational
functions to be carried out effectively. Management Information
System (MIS) is basically concerned with processing data into
information and is then communicated to the various Departments
in an organization for appropriate decision-making. MIS is a subset
of the overall planning and control activities covering the
application of humans, technologies, and procedures of the
organization. The information system is the mechanism to ensure
that information is available to the managers in the form they
want it and when they need it. The purpose of this study is to
surveying the effectiveness of management information system of
productivity and its elements such as work speed, work accuracy
(efficiency), work consistency, usage and clarity of information and
make decision status improvement (effectiveness) in Oks group
international pvt.ltd. in New Delhi. The study sample consists of 13
employees. Results in inferential statistic there is significant
difference between effectiveness of information system and
working speed of the employees (t=2.221, sig= 0.048). The
instrument of this research was self-administered questionnaire in
two parts of demographic and main questions. Results showed
that there is 46.2 percent male and 53.8 percent female. Also
there is 84.6 percent people who are in the range of 20 till 30
years old (as maximum group) and people over the 40 years old
with 7.7 percent (minimum).

INTRODUCTION
Information system is an important infrastructure of todays
business organization, coordinating the resources and activities of
the input, process and output subsystems of the organization. An
information system is an organized combination of people,
hardware, software, communication networks, data resources, and
policies and procedures that stores and disseminates information

in an organization. Management Information Systems refers to a

system that uses information in order to ensure apt management
of businesses. Fundamentally, all the facets of MIS run
concomitantly in order to ensure overall efficiency of the whole
system. Information Systems can be conceptualized in terms of
three types of systems: Transactional Processing Systems (TPS),
Management Information Systems (MIS), and Expert Systems. MIS
has several subsets such as Decision Support Systems and
Executive Information System.
Consequentially, a good management of information systems
leads to good decision making in business just in the same way
poor management leads to poor decision making. The relationship
between information system and decision making is a central
concern in the field of information system (IS). The main objective
of information systems is helping decision makers by providing
accurate and time based information helping them in making the
right decisions in turbulent environment. MIS provides several
benefits to the business organization: the means of effective and
efficient coordination between Departments; quick and reliable
referencing; access to relevant data and documents; use of less
labor; improvement in
organizational and departmental
techniques; management of day-to-day activities (as accounts,
stock control, payroll, etc.); day-to-day assistance in a
Department. MIS provides a valuable time-saving benefit to the
workforce. Employees do not have to collect data manually for
filing and analysis. Instead, that information can be entered
quickly and easily into a computer program. We are living in a time
of great change and working in an Information Age. Managers
have to assimilate masses of data, convert that data into
information, form conclusions about that information and make
decisions leading to the achievement of business objectives. For
an. organization, information is as important resource as money,
machinery and manpower. It is essential for the survival of the
enterprise. Among the various benefits of MIS effectiveness, the
role of work outcomes has been acknowledged. MISs provide
managers with a broad range of information about multiple
dimensions of the firms operations, thus supporting decisionmaking and performance achievement and facilitating the work of
end users.

1.1 Procedural Definitions
Information Systems: Professional discipline bridging the business
field and the well-defined computer science field that is evolving
toward a new scientific area of study. It includes people,
procedures, data, software, and hardware that are used to gather
and analyze digital information.
Transaction process system: An information processing system for
business transactions involving the collection, modification and
retrieval of all transaction data. Characteristics of a TPS include
performance, reliability and consistency. TPS is also known as
transaction processing or real-time processing.
Decision Support Systems: Information system that supports
organizational decision-making activities. It is a software-based
system intended to help decision makers compile useful
information from raw data, documents, personal knowledge,
and/or business models to identify and solve problems and make
decisions.

Akram Jalal Karim (2011) highlighted that MIS should be accessible
in supplying appropriate and high quality of information from its
generation to its users. To MIS, to be vital and effective, a carefully
conceived, designed and executed database should exist to
communicate the adaptive decisions.

METHODOLOGY
The primary data were collected through the self-administered
questionnaires, responses were collected, and the results were
analysed and analysis of the data were used averages and
percentages and statistical tests for statistical analysis (SPSS),
data were collected from primary sources through the design of a
self-administered questionnaire as a tool mainly for research, have
been distributed to all management levels with managers,
executive of organization in addition special information about
information systems.

Aim of the Study

The major aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of
information system IS on the working speed/performance of the
employees of the organization.
Research Design
The research design adopted for this study is survey. It involves
the systematic collection of information from the employees who
are the information system users.
Survey Instrument
The employees were also asked to indicate their perception on a
Likert scales (1- 5) with response ranging from strongly disagree
to strongly agree. The collected data were analyzed based on
correlation and regression analyses using the statistical package
for social sciences (SPSS). The Step-wise Regression was
implemented to test the hypothesis and the linkages between
dependent and independent Variables. The significance threshold
was set at .05
Stepwise linear regression is a method of regressing multiple
variables while simultaneously removing those that aren't
important. Stepwise regression essentially does multiple
regression a number of times, each time removing the weakest
correlated variable. At the end you are left with the variables that
explain the distribution best.
The questionnaire of this study is adapted from previous literature
and studies. The main reason why we need to refer to literatures
when developing a questionnaire is to ensure the high reliability
and validity of the survey.
Instrument of study was a questionnaire of two parts, first part
general information (Gender, age, Designation, years of using
information system, and department name), while the second part
of the study of a questionnaire to measure the impact of
management
information
systems
to
improve
performance/Working speed of the employees.
Hypotheses
In order to address the problem of study and achieve goals, the
hypotheses was developed as follows:

As per the step wise linear regression that was conducted to

examine the extent to which the independent variables
(Information System has an impact on decision making) influence
the working speed/performance of the employees (dependent
variable). Tables 2, 3 and 4 summarized the results of the Step wise
Linear Regression analysis. The results of regression revealed that
the model is significant (p < 0.05) and the coefficient of
determination (R2) for the regression is (0.31), indicating that (31%)
of the variation in the dependent variable (working speed) was
explained by the independent variables included in the regression.
Table 4 illustrates the significant of the effect of independent
variables on dependent variables. We reject the null hypothesis
because it's significant (0.048) which is less than (0.05). So we can
say that there is a significant statistical between that Information
System has an impact on decision making and the working
speed/performance of the employees.
Correlation analysis was incorporated to describe the strength and
direction of the linear relationship between the independent
variables and the dependent variable. The results of correlation
revealed that Information System has an impact on decision making
(r=0.556, p < 0.05) found to be strongly and positively correlated
with the working speed/performance of the employees.

CONCLUSION
Management Information Systems is of paramount importance to
reach effective decisions in an organization. The literatures
presented in this study explained the significant role of MIS in the
decision-making process enhancing in an organization. Information
System is deemed to be an integrated user-machine system that
provides information to support operations, management and
decision-making functions at various levels of an organization.
Organizations are aware that MIS is a special-purpose system useful
for management objectives. The study has highlighted that MIS
should be accessible in supplying appropriate and high quality of
information from its generation to its users.
Executives also agreed that information systems have a positive
impact on organizational effectiveness. To answer the research
questions and to test the hypotheses, the study adapted the
Page | 12

quantitative research design and implemented advance statistic

methods (Correlation, ANOVA and regression). The study found that
Information System has an impact on decision making was the
most usable variable in the OKS Group.
The correlation coefficient between effectiveness of information
system and the working speed/performance of the employees is
positively correlated (0.556). It is clear that Information System has
an impact on decision making which has clearly positive effect on
working speed of the employees.
For further analysis, a Step-wise Linear Regression analysis was
conducted and the results of regression revealed that the model is
significant as null hypothesis is rejected and the coefficient of
determination (R2) for the regression is (0.310). The result of
regression indicated that the variance in the working speed of the
staff/employees is explained by impact of information system on
decision making.
