ASME UET Lahore is one of the most prominent, active and dynamic student sections of ASME International.
It was the Mechanical Engineering Class of 2006 who actually started efforts to establish this society in UET
Lahore, Pakistan in 2006. In a very short period of time, the members of ASME UET Lahore multiplied at an
amazing rate and in one year, ASME UET Lahore became not only the Largest Paid Membership Society of
UET Lahore but also the 4th largest chapter of ASME International with a record growth of 300% in one year
with several National and International achievements. ASME UET aim to deliver to our society, a combination
of training, mentoring and idea development, we help our members to grow to be Science Leaders.
For ASME UET, DAG is about women introduction and addition to engineering. Around
the world, girls face barriers to education that boys dont. But when you educate a girl,
it creates a lasting impact on families, communities, countries, and the world.
If we eliminate the barriers that keep girls out of the classroom, she will:
In lieu of these hard truths, last year we invested equal amount of funds on girls and boys. The result was
astonishing not only two of the last year schools have contacted us for DAG activity this year, one of them
wants to do something for their girl students so that, women inclusion toward engineering can be enhanced.
Last years statistics and comparison between boys and girls and their inclination towards engineering is
shared later in this proposal.
Out of 32 executives at ASME UET we have 14 female executives that help ASME UET in various forms all of
these executives will be one of the driving and organizing force of this years DAG.

This year project like last years focuses on inspiring engineering in the students and helping them in deciding
their future, as it focuses primarily on those students who have their career choices ahead of them.
Presenting, knowing and experiencing Engineering basics, through STEM.
The program will cover the students belonging to low socio-economic backgrounds who aim to excel in the
field of their choice. This will be a five day activity, targeting 1800 students hailing from six different schools,
all located near UET Lahore, to inspire, motivate and simplify the will to study and learn Sciences to Excel in
the field of Engineering.
Last years DAG witnessed something amazing, not only students inclination toward engineering rose about
an average of 22%, their belief in engineering as a savior and solution provider of problems also rose about
an average of whooping 31%.
Above mentioned stats from each school are shared later in the proposal.

Besides helping students in special to find their interests in STEM, this activity will promote cause of
volunteerism and social responsibility in our Society. More than 100 students (Undergrad) will volunteer to
build STEM foundations with DAG in Pakistan.
All the freshmen from each engineering discipline sign a pact with our university in which they agree to
educate three students in their 4-year degree program. ASME will provide all those students a platform to
complete and achieve their goal.
To make this years DAG more apparent and successful within and outside our university (UET), we will be
collaborating with several entities.
These entities will be belonging from media, government and on campus societies.
Purpose of these collaborations is to make DAG more diverse.
Health Department from the Government of Punjab where our University and all of the schools are located
have decided to give a safety seminar on Dengue (Mosquito-borne tropical disease). Their seminar will be
regarding Dengue prevention through engineering (spraying through pumps, chemicals for killing and
inhibiting growth of dengue) as well as general purpose awareness program.

We have contacted US Embassy in Pakistan for helping us organize this years DAG. This have shown keen
interest and are interested in helping with water sanitization program at a large scale through USAID. Since
this is not the scope of our project we have decided to distribute pamphlets given by US Embassy in schools.
We have contacted USEFP to give a seminar on benefits of higher education. They have agreed and have
decided to give a seminar in which they will explain the benefits along with success stories from Pakistan
and around the world and the information on scholarships available to Pakistans students.
The Organization aims to finance the deprived and needy students to acquire quality education, so that they
can raise their living standards and contribute towards a flourishing nation. PSWO has decided to provide
yearly scholarships to the needy students on behalf of ASME. In return we have to put their logos and make
them our publicity partners.

AED Student Chapter UET will be our collaborator for all of our SSDCs (Student Speed Design Competition).
Activities related to structure and design will be overlooked and organized by them under supervision of
ASME. Details of activities are shared later in proposal.
Express News will be our official media partner for this years DAG, being one of the largest media groups of
Pakistan, they not only will broadcast some glimpses on their private television channel but also share DAG
on their newspaper as news story.
City FM 89 will be our radio partner, being one of the most widely listened to radio station by youth and the
radio station with the most coverage. City FM 89 will advertise this years DAG and will invite three executives
of ASME UET for interview and a session detailing DAG.

Sponsorship amounting to $664.11 (Rs. 70,000) will be provided by PIA (Pakistan International Airlines).
Amount will be transferred as soon as ASME Int. give us the green light for this years DAG.
In return we will provide advertisement through all the channels possible which include e-publicity,
pamphlets, standees, back-drops, flexes etc.
Charcoal clothing will be our publicity partner for this years DAG activity. They will cover all the printing stuff
in form of flexes, backdrops, standees and banners. Total cost will be around $214.42 (Rs. 22,600). All the
designing will be done by ASME UET. In return we will provide advertisement through using their logo
wherever possible.

* This year again we will study the effect of DAG on new schools as
well as on old students who were with us last year. If keep our student
sample size same and observe this trend for the coming two years
(time required for students to complete school and get admitted in
engineering colleges) then we can truly understand the power of DAG.
** Net increase towards engineering in boys is greater than in girls,
because like anywhere in the world engineering is predominantly led
by men, our intention here was to increase the number of girls
interested in pursuing engineering.

Dear Sir/Madam,
25
The ASME UET Lahore student section has been actively involved in serving students in our community and
university reap the maximum benefits of their engineering degrees and providing them with a platform to
contribute to the society. We have been working closely on the mission set by ASME and have contributed
at several important stages with ASME Pakistan, the senior section in our country.
All of this is because we have a hunger to excel and realize our responsibility to deliver. This is the fourth
year we are applying for DAG. Our previous three requests have been rejected and we have repeatedly been
rebuffed in our attempts to collaborate with ASME for this cause. Thus our student members have
volunteered on other platforms synchronous to the vision of K12 education and STEM growth because we
see a great need for it in and around us. We humbly request that our proposal for this year be accepted so
that we finally get a chance to do this from our own platform. We will not disappoint you.
Regards
Team ASME UET
