MODELLING OF POWER SYSTEM

Figure shows the block diagram of a generating unit with non-reheat turbine.
The block diagram includes speed governor, turbine, rotating mass and load,
appropriate for load frequency analysis.

The first step in the analysis and design of a control system is mathematical
modeling of the system. The most common two methods are the transfer
function method and the state variable approach to nonlinear systems.
In order to use the transfer function and linear state equations, the
system must be linear zed. Proper assumptions and approximations are made
to linearize the mathematical equations describing the system, and a transfer
function model is obtained for the Generator Model, Load Model, Prime
Mover Model, and Governor Model components.
