Since the meaning of the ethnics hard to be defined, five approaches and ethical

standards have been introduced to shoot the test of time and offer a foundation or criteria for
making ethical decisions. The first approach is the utilitarian approach. The utilitarian
approach is the ethical behaviour which holds the morally right for an action in any situations
which produces the greatest balance over harms of everyone affected. The utilitarian
approach is guided by what will result the greatest good for the greatest number of the
people.
Despite the benefits are produced by lies, manipulation or coercion, the action which
produces the maximum benefits to most of all of the people who will encourage the people
who have the authority to do this action. Managers often take the utilitarian approach, using
financial performance such as efficiency and profit as the best definition of what have been
stated in utilitarian approach the greatest good for the greatest people. This could be
applied in the ABC companys, the organisation analysis in order to gain more profit and
money to please shareholders in the market, individual employees have been forced by the
employer to extend the working hours and increase the work load of the employee in order to
increase the productivity of the employee. Thus, the company has assigned the value of the
profit and money is more important than the value of the humans right due to the profit
earned by the employer would please the shareholders and the result in the greatest good for
the greatest people.
Apart from that, ABC company also face some problems in the respect of the staff.
High staff turnover rate at ABC due to most of the staff with the workload is the leading
factor which will lead to multitasking for the existing staff. ABC company fail to hire more
workers to reduce the workload of the workers. Thus, this approach also encompasses what
has been referred to as cost-benefit analysis. The cost-benefit analysis decision might show
that the ABC company reduce the numbers of workers may provide immediate benefits for

the workplace. The cost-benefit analysis will in the result of damage to workplace morale and
the loss of employees with well-experienced. The discipline of the workers will change to
negative attitude in the respect of the seriousness for the job scope. ABC company has
measured the benefits outweigh the cost, the decision is deemed as unethical.
