I am asking for your vote for Board Member of RASS
I originally started caving in 1969/70 with the Iron Mountain Grotto at Emory
& Henry College. My first caves were Buchanan Cave, I 81 Cave, Sugar Grove
Cave ( I cant find anyone who remembers this cave now) Perkins Cave,
Morrell Cave, Butler Cave and others forgotten in the mists of time. I have
been a RASS member for more than 25 years. I have served multiple terms
on the Board with stints as Chairman and President. I was on the committee
tasked with finding and purchasing the RASS Field Station; among the best
things we have ever accomplished. In support of the goals of the Club; I
spent many smoky evenings in the old bingo hall helping generate the funds
that enabled us to make significant contributions to many worthy causes in
the caving community and notably to afford the Field Station.
I did my first vertical trip such as it was at Backbone Rock, Tennessee in 1970
using the old double carabiner break bar system on old very muddy Goldline
rope. Interestingly many years later my son Matt Barns and I attended the
Triangle Rescue Vertical classes together also at Backbone Rock. It was an
incredibly rewarding experience especially with my son.
I was a member of the Rockbridge County Survey enjoying the caves and the
fellowship of a wonderful group. I also served multiple terms on the Virginia
Cave Board as a member and as Chairman and Vice Chairman.
I have maintained my membership in RASS and the NSS since joining and am
presently an active member of the RASS Board.
At this time I am also a member of the NSS Board of Governors.
I support the goals of the NSS and RASS and would appreciate your vote.
Thanks, Bob Barns
It's time for the annual RASS Board of Director's election. I would be pleased
to serve as your representative to the board once again.
Since joining RASS in 1988 I have served as your education director,
historian, librarian, and membership chair for many of those years. I would
love to continue in my role as membership chair and librarian.
As a member of the NSS Board of Governors I am able to listen to and take
your concerns to the NSS. I feel that it is part of my commitment to you.
Weve seen an influx of younger members to our grotto. That relationship is
something that I wish to continue to cultivate.
Hello,
Im Rhiann Senkalski, and I grew up as a second generation caver. In the past
few years I have served on the board, and for the last year I have served as
secretary. Being on the board has taught me a lot about how its run, and
how we can improve. Over the years Ive been promoting caving to the
younger generation, and I will continue to make an effort for recruiting new
cavers. Thank you and vote for me!
