Introduction

ThisreportoutlinesthemethodsusedtotesttheGNSSreceiversusedforgeophonepositioningand
geodeticnetworksurveysthatareassociatedwith[ContractorName]'screw[CrewName].
ThesetestsprovideameanstoensurethatthenewGNSSreceiverscomplywithSaudiAramcoaccuracy
specificationsasoutlinedintheprocedureGDADSL015GNSSReceiverPositioningTestProcedure.It
alsoensuresthatalltheGNSSreceiversareingoodworkingconditionbeforethecrewstartsup.
Thecheckprocedureswerecompletedatthecrewcampinthe[LocationName]from42155to42158.
Thefollowingsectionsinthereportoutlinethebackgroundandtheactionsassociatedwithtestingthe

ThefirsttestrequiredtobecompletedtocomplywithSaudiAramcospecificationswastheGNSSshort
baselinetest.Thiswascarriedoutbyonthe1stJune2015.
ThistestinvolvedthemeasurementofasetofultrashortbaselinesbytheGNSSequipment,centeredat
theverticesofasquareof5metersides,andthecomparisonoftheresultingbaselinesagainstthedistance
betweenthepointsphysicallymeasuredwithasteeltape.
Thehorizontaltoleranceforthistestis3mm+0.5ppm+10mmsetuperrorasoutlinedin
GDADSL015.
Thefourpointswereindividuallymarkedwithanailhammeredintotheground.AllfifteenGNSS
receiverswerecheckedduringthistest.

TheGNSSdatawasloggedwithanelevationmaskof15degreesatastandardloggingrateof15
seconds.Fourdifferentreceivers,antennasandTrimbleTSC3SurveyControllerswereusedoneach
session,andfourseparatesessionswererecorded.
Boththeantennaheightsandthedistancesbetweensetuppointsweremeasuredbothpriorandaftereach
observationtoeliminatethechanceofhumanerrorsandtoensurethatnobiaswasincorporatedinthe
observations.
Carewastakentoensurethatthetribrachitselfwasnotmovedfromthetripodensuringthatexcessive
setupcenteringerrorswerenotincludedintothecalculations.
Oncealltheunitsweretested,theresultingGPSbaselinelengthswerecomparedagainstthetape
measuredbaselines.

ThistestinvolvedthemeasurementofasetoflongGNSSbaselinesfromknowngeodeticcontrolpoints.
Thetoleranceforthistestwas5.8mm+0.5ppm+10mmsetuperrorasoutlinedinGDADSL15.This
tolerancewasbasedoncombiningthepublishedhorizontal(3mm+0.5ppm)andvertical(5mm+0.5mm)
tolerancespecificationforstaticobservationsusingtheTrimbleR7.Italsoincludesasetuperrorof
10mm.
ThistestutilizedthreeSaudiAramcogeodeticcontrolnetworkpoints(L7714.30,2236,andL8986.29).A
GNSSreceiverwassetuponeachcontrolpointanddatawascollectedforaminimumof45minutes
usingstatictechniques.

RTKRepeatabilityTest

ThethirdtestrequiredtobecompletedtocomplywithSaudiAramcospecificationswastheRTK
repeatabilitybaselinetest.Thiswascarriedoutbyonthe3 ndJun2015.
ThistestinvolvedtheobservationofasetofRTKmeasurementsfromeachGNSSroverreceiverto5
newlyestablishedpointsusingalocalGNSSbasestation.
Thehorizontaltoleranceforthistestis8mm+0.5ppm+20mmsetuperror.Theverticaltolerancefor
thistestis15mm+1.0ppm+20mmsetuperror.Thehorizontalandverticaltolerancesarebasedon
publishedtolerancespecificationsforRTKobservationsusingtheTrimbleR7GNSSreceiver.
Thebasestationwasestablishedataknowngeodeticcontrolpoint(TG1234).(Provideaphotoofthe
basestationsetup).Theelevationmaskatthebasestationwassetto15degrees.
5points(101,102,103,104and105)approximately12metersapartwereestablishedatadistanceof
approximately5kmfromthebasestation.Eachpointwasindividuallymarkedwithawoodenstake
hammeredintotheground.AllfifteenGNSSreceiverssurveyedeachpointusinga3secondRTK
observationduringthistest.Therangepolewassupportedbyabipodtoensureaccuratecentering.
(Provideagraphicthatshowsthebasestationrelativetothe5RTKpointsdetailtheapprox.distance
betweenthebaseandtheRTKpoints.Provideaphotoofthe5points.Provideaphotothatshowsoneof
thesepointsbeingsurveyedusingabipod/supportingstructuretosupporttherangepole).
Foreachpoint,theaveragecoordinatefromthe15RTKobservationswascomputed.Thiscoordinatewas
comparedagainsteachindividuallyRTKderivedcoordinate.Thedifferenceswerereviewed.SeeTable8,
