Professor Campbell (Name change may occur later),

First off on all the official forms Im Allison Knuckles 800950583, but
really I go by Allie. Most commonly after saying my full name to people I get
Is Knuckles really your last name?, like Sonic and Knuckles (not going to
lie, people saying that to me is the only reason I know who Sonic and
Knuckles are), or even the Watch out dont hit me with your brass Knuckles
followed by a fist bump. These common responses also are accompanied by
people not knowing how to spell Knuckles. Really people? Is it that hard to
spell? Did you really not know about the silent K? Enough about the cool yet
frustrating last name. Lets include the other members of the Knuckles family
in this letter. I have two parents who live happily in my hometown of Cary,
North Carolina (approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from the Niner
Nation). As far as siblings go I have two sisters, 10 years and 8 years older
than me. They are very nice to me but they are vicious to each other and
currently in the bridezilla stages in their lives. Since, they dont live in Cary
anymore I can easily bypass any drama that comes my way.
Now, college I would say is a big shift in terms of living environments. If
you live in Cary, you might recognize the feeling of living in the Cary
Bubble where everyone is stuck in their ways and sheltered from the rest of
the diverse world. I personally am not like the average Cary person and pride
myself in how much I have learned about myself/ my
Blue Ridge Leaders
interests thus far in my 18-year journey of life. From
School on Black
living in Cary I learned how much I like to adventure,
Mountain
travel and try new things. Sometimes I like to hang up my Eno (a portable
hammock) and enjoy the nature and other times I like to go see the cool
places/activities I can find in such a bland town. Most of my trips out of the
country have been with my family to the Caribbean or with a club I was in
called Leaders Club. Leaders club is a club through the YMCA that took me on
trips like the Leadership Summit at Camp Kanata (in Wake Forest), Blue
Ridge Leaders School on Black Mountain, or even service trips to Atlanta, GA
and Washington D.C.. The best part about adventures, aside from the killer
experiences, is the stickers I get to put on my water bottles to mark where I
have gone.
Staying along the lines of what I enjoy and like to spend my time doing,
I would like to say I love food. My favorite activity as side from tie dying and
adventuring is eating. I love anything that the doctors probably advise you
not to eat. Deserts are my biggest problem because I have the largest sweet
tooth out there. My sweet tooth is so bad that after every meal I always find
the need to eat a desert/sweet treat (how is a meal complete without one,
am I right?). Plus, whenever Im in a situation where free candy is available
my urge to satisfy the sweet tooth is uncontrollable. My favorite sweets are

anything having to do with cake, doughnuts, or being deep fried. Deep fried
treats normally come into play at my favorite event of the year, the State
Fair. I make it a personal goal to go at the bare minimum of once a year. To
others it may be a bad thing to know where the best deep fried items are
and the most effective routes to obtain all my personal
Service trip in
favorites, but I find it strategic and necessary. My favorite deep
Washington D.C
fried items I speak of are deep fried Oreos, deep fried cookie
dough and deep fried mac and cheese. These delicious treats are
accompanied by jalapeo cheddar hush puppies, the corn (thats grilled to
perfection and might possibly give you a heart attack), and the blooming
onion. The fair as you might be able to tell is something I would recommend
anyone to go to, however not many people Ive met at UNCC have ever gone
to the State Fair. Dont worry I already have plans to take people.
In terms of people and experiences Ive had at UNCC so far, Im having
a blast. Everyone at UNCC seems to be so nice and
Eating corn from the State
helpful (that might change, but I hope not). Being in
Fair
the University Honors Program has probably been
the reason why hat is true because all faculty in the program have made it
so Im all set to be on the right foot for success. I have a mentor with UHP
and she is very nice along with my RA and hall mates. Also, I love that for 3
nights in a row I was offered to be taken on a tour of campus to help me not
get lost (somehow I still got lost). Plus, I love all of the free food, items and tshirts. I like to see how many t-shirts I can get and what the oddest object is
for only giving a club your email. So far, I would have to say the miners hard
hat would be on the top of the list (but technically I only had to talk to 4
clubs and didnt really give them my email). The journey for weird free stuff
and t-shirts is sure to continue.
In all, I can easily be summed up by being a food-loving, t-shirt
collecting, adventure going kind of gal and as Forest Gump would say thats
all I have to say about that.

Hope this Semester rocks!
