Resume

In this project we will talk about the production of radish, is a mini harvest held in a
plastic cups with soil and seeds for radishes, the activity was to put different
amounts of water to see if it affected at the time of growth , observed for 10 days,
we recorded data each day and with the same data will create a Minitab analysis,
which will help us to draw conclusions about the production of radishes.
The idea of this project is to draw on our own data, as it can not be drawn from
elsewhere, rather than creating this mini harvest and can draw hypothesis that
helps us to verify whether the data were correctly we scored.

Introduction
In the next project with seeds of radishes, it is performed in order to put into
practice knowledge seen in class, as what is to gather information, to know to have
a good count data itself as carry out the program Minitab, which it is the essential
tool to handle and main work in this paper.
The project has 2 functions, the first one had to do was buy seeds and bring to
harvest, care for them for 10 days and likewise take the data, on the other hand,
the data obtained from the amount of water and growth of these variables they
were taken to be performed linear regression analysis.

At the end of the analysis can reach an accurate conclusion, the evolution of a
plant with respect to water is provided to it, good results were estimated because
unlike our plants several companions were constantly growing. Our data obtained
were exactly taken every day to not lose often.
And our data in Minitab program can provide a linear regression model adjusted
according to our project with their respective components.

Nature and dimension of research

The amount of water which gives affect plant growth?

Objective

Objectives should be:

Clear
Concrets
Real
Focused result we obtain
General objective:

The overall objective of this project is as already mentioned above, harvesting 15

vessels with soil, adding a seed of radishes and for 10 days adding different
amounts of water for every 3 cups 1 tablespoon of water are added, in 3 other
vessels are added 2, another 3 cups 3 tablespoons of water are added and so on
until the number 5, once this growth of the plant is and that is scored to interpret
data and resolve the question we have, all this It made by Pythagoras and with the
Minitab program to plot the data correctly and make assumptions.

Specific objective:

Strategy: at harvest, every day be writing down the growth of plants to have more
information and data to plot in Minitab.

Write the numbers 1, 2, 3,4 and 5 in three cups each.

Place the cups on a tray and place in a warm place, light. Do not put them in
strong sunlight.
Water sites each day. The cups are number 1 teaspoon, those with number
2 Reception 2 and so on.
Observe the plants about 10 days. Measure and record the height of the
plants in each group.
Graph the results.
Do a regression model, what variables related?

To analyze the results and make adequate provision.

Conclude

Justification:

Because we need to offload us to provide us own way, it is looking for a way to

create such data but at the same see are real, so at harvest radishes, every day
gives you a different thing, both growth like water through the data then we get us
doubt about the relationship of the growth with water and assumptions we draw
different types of growth because not all grow in the same way.

Hiptesis

With the seeds of radishes add different number of scoops seeing if growth affects
water.

Theoretical framework
What are the radishes?
Radishes are plants of the cruciferous family, also called winter vegetables, which
belong important food plants such as cabbage, broccoli, arugula and other herbs,
such as white rabaniza.
Radishes are from the wild species Raphanus raphanistrum.
Currently they are widely grown vegetables, there are many varieties, among
which we can find white, red radishes and black, the latter two which seem to have
more properties for the body.
Germination.
Germination is the process by which a seed develops into a new plant. This
process takes place when the embryo swells and the seed coat breaks. To
accomplish this, any new plant requires basic elements for its development: light,
water, oxygen and mineral salts. Germination The most common example is the
outbreak of a seed from a seed of a flowering plant or angiosperm. However, the

growth of hyphae from a fungal spore germination is also considered. In a more

general sense, germination can imply everything expands into a greater being from
a small existence or germ. Germination is a mechanism of sexual reproduction of
plants.
The seed develops from anterozoide located inside the pollen tube of a flower. It
reaches the ovary entering the micropyle the egg where fertilization occurs.
Subsequently, the egg becomes a seed and the ovary pericarp or fruit.

Linear regression analysis

The linear regression model is the most commonly used to predicting values of a
quantitative variable from the values of other explanatory variable also quantitative
(simple linear regression model).
Specifically, according to the simple linear regression model, scores of subjects on
2 -a variables considered them predictor variable (X) and the other as a response
variable (Y) - are represented (modeled) by the equation a straight line:

When more than one explanatory variable (multiple linear regression model), a
subscript for each, for example, for the case of two explanatory variables is used:

Minitab
Minitab is a computer program designed to perform basic and advanced statistical
functions. Combines friendly use Microsoft Excel with the ability to run statistical
analyzes. In 1972, program instructors statistical analysis of the State University of
Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania State University) developed MINITAB as a lightweight
version of OMNITAB a statistical analysis program of the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) of the United States. As full version in 2006

costs $ 1195 USD, but a version for students and scholars is offered as a
supplement to some textbooks.
Minitab is often used with the implementation methodology Six Sigma process
improvement.

As F> Fa is rejected and it is concluded that the variables X and Y have a

significant relationship, in this case we say that water influences the growth of
plants, as mentioned above, each glass had different tablespoons water, in three
vessels would increase a tablespoon of water, and the relationship we perceive
was that the less water you added him, were growing faster.

The correlation coefficient is the percentage change in variable growth explains its
relationship with one or more variables predictors which is water. Generally, the
higher the coefficient of determination, the better the model fit to the data, in this
case the coefficient is less, which is not adjusted data vary greatly clearly because
water affects growth plants was different procedure to plant radishes.

Analysis and Results

As initially had to buy seeds, in some disposable cups regular size were planted
with some soil, every 3 vessels were numbered from 1 to 5, then 3 seeds were
introduced into each cup, they made a small hole in the bottom of the vessel,
subsequently they placed in a shady spot so they could keep.
Every day the glass one would put a tablespoon of water and successively
according to the number of vessels will put the required amount each plant, this

whole procedure was performed for 10 successive days after planting, and himself
were taking growth data of each of the plants.
At day 10 we had enough data to perform an analysis on these same, not all
vessels grew three plants, in some cases grew more than others and in another
only grew one or two.
And having our data are entered the program Minitab to do linear regression
analysis, to get the coefficients and linear regression model.
In the scatterplot of growth from water you can see a distribution
Not as constant as where greater dispersion occurs it is in the second and third
tablespoons of water as in the five stages one Contrast in dispersion is denoted as
the beginning of growth there is much variability if not till the fifth day is when you
start to see changes
In the following graph normal probability the residue is clearly visible where the
increase less steel is denoted and as the days pass their growth will increase as
the line of simple linear regression touches on many of the points that are in the
normal probability plot because its adjusted model has a significant relationship is
considered that water dramatically influences the growth of plants.
As we know each glass contained three plants so as each received different
amounts of tablespoons of water so that the graph of order remarks perceived that
the smaller the amount of water is added to the largest plant will be its increase.
Because we conclude that between the second and third tablespoon of water is
sufficient for growth is constant
In the fitted line plot of growth against water is the correlation coefficient that
determines the percentage change presents growth is significant because their
relationship with one or more variables that influence by water. The line shows that
the model is not set because it shows zero point zero percent

The analysis was conducted coefficient concludes that water is a very influential
variable in plant germination because the procedure is showing that the data is not
very tight.

Conclusion
Once finished our project, we conclude that by planting a plant, in this case the
seeds of blueberry, must have a lot of care and bring them water, good soil, leave
them in a cool place, and give them oxygen.
We did the experiment of putting different amounts of water for 10 days, are 15
vessels and split in 3 so we went 4 groups of different tablespoons water, we
conclude that it is good to give them oxygen, such as to leave a small hole at the
bottom the vessel and thus grow better and faster, also less water have likewise
grow faster and better, for blueberries.
To end the data graphed, to remove the fitted regression is far from a good fit, this
is because the data vary widely for the same reason that water makes that
difference that makes plants grow even there were days when more water plants
did not grow, therefore the data were very different, and the scatterplot is not very
common, it changes according to the Y, put the Y as growth because it is we
wanted to investigate.
