11. Describe how your values, skills and interests relate to this career option: I
value good feedback, so I would like this job because I would be editing peoples

work and giving them feedback as well as correcting their mistakes. I have good
writing and reading skills which will be very important and I have social skills and
can explain ideas properly to another person so that would help me talk to people
whose work I am editing and tell them what is wrong and what they need to fix.
12. What courses and grades are needed to enter this Occupation? You will need
good grades because people only want editors who have very good writing and
reading skills and who are good at their work and can edit texts to near perfection.
You will need the Bachelor of Arts Degree, as well as the Master Degree to become
an editor.
13.Working conditions:Editors typically work in office buildings, while freelance and
contract editors often work from home offices. Editors work for a wide range of
employers, including newspapers, television newsrooms, government and
publishing firms. Also editing is usually done using computers so eye and wrist
strain are possible.
14.Describe what has influenced your choice of this occupation: I was influenced by
the fact the I have good writing and reading skills and have gotten good grades in
English so I would be a good natural editor.
15What are the Future Trends of this occupation: The job opportunity is going to
stay about the same as there is predicted to be no growth in the editing field as
there is going to be in the trades industry. This means that it will be just as difficult
to get a job as an editor somewhere in the future as it is now.
Career two
Name:ArjunSamra
3.Cost of Training in Canadian (full program cost for all years): The fees for all the
education required to become a family physician is: about $24,325.8 for the
Bachelor of Science Degree at UBC ,about $25,744.24 for the Doctor of Medicine
Degree (MD) at UBC, and about $62 660- 65 288 for medical school at UBC.
10. Disadvantages of Occupation: Long training periods in medical school and high
tuition costs. Since physicians work long hours, they usually dont have much time
to spend with their family and friends. The responsibilities that come with being a
doctor can be stressful, such as making a mistake, losing a patient, or fearing the
loss of one. Another disadvantage of being a family physician is that patients can
make lawsuits against you if theyhave been harmed or injured due to
poor medical treatment or mistaken diagnosis from a medical provider.
11. Describe how your values, skills and interests relate to this career option
I want to help contribute to the society and make it a happier place by helping
people with their health issues and concerns. I can talk to people with confidence or
without being scared and nervous, I like troubleshooting and narrowing down
problems by asking questions which is what a family has to do sometimes, I also like
science and get good grades in it so I will enjoy using my science skills to help
people and even learn new things while doing it.
12. What courses and grades are needed to enter this Occupation?
Need to have very good grades (high 90s) and appropriate interpersonal skills and
attitudes to work as medical professionals as well as experience. Need to complete
the Bachelor of Science, MD, Medical School, accredited residency training, as well
as taking multiple licensing exams, and a national exam.
13.Typical hours of work:Family physicians and GPs often work irregular hours,
including nights and weekends, and may also be on-call 24 hours a day when
required to respond to emergencies. Resident physicians generally work long hours,
which could be up to 60 hours per week, however, this trend may be decreasing.
14.Describe what has influenced your choice of this occupation: I was influenced
towards this choice of occupation because I like it and I feel it is my duty to give
back to the society in all the ways I can. Also, I hope that I will be able to help treat
my parents myself, which will save them the trouble of booking appointments and
driving to see doctors and also lets them ask as many questions as they want
without a doctor telling them their time is up.
15.What are the Future Trends of this occupation: The population is growing so there
will be more family physicians and doctors employed in the future with the
assumption that the medical schools and universities that have Science Degrees
and MDs open up more spots due to the increasing population. If they dont open
up more spots, then the competition will just get much tougher since there are more
people trying to get in.
Trades Career
3.Cost of Training in Canadian (full program cost for all years ): About $22,000 for
the apprenticeship course, about$3588.04 for electrical foundations course, about
$3500 for electrical engineering course, and about $120 to take the red seal exam.
11. Describe how your values, skills and interests relate to this career option: I
have good hands and can work very well with tools and other equipment. I also
know some things about electrical work as I have helped my dad install wires in and
around our house. I also find this work very interesting as you can learn new things
while doing your work. I value hard work, so when I work hard on something, like
wiring a building, I feel proud after I have finished and am looking back on my work.
Therefore, this job would give me satisfaction.
12. What courses and grades are needed to enter this Occupation? You need to
have fairly good grades in the electrical courses you would take in university which
would include electrical engineering and electrical foundations. You have to have
lots of experience, a certificate of qualification from the Industry Training Authority,
and the red seal.
13.Working conditions: Work is usually indoors and the work areas can often be
noisy and dirty. Work may take place from heights or in confined spaces, and may
require lifting of heavy objects. Safety is a big concern and precautions are followed
to reduce the risks of injury from accidental electric shocks and falls from heights.
13.Typical hours of work:Electricians typically work 40 hours per week and may
occasionally work overtime.
14.Describe what has influenced your choice of this occupation: I was influenced by
that fact that I would get to use my hands to fix, repair, and install things such as
wires which I enjoy and have some experience with already.
15.What are the Future Trends of this occupation: There will be many more
electricians in the future because the trades industry is growing very fast in BC
which will make competition to get work harder later on.

Narrow your career list to a few good choices. Each career should have a detailed list of
skills needed, as well as degrees, diplomas, certificates, volunteer or relevant experience
etc. Next, research the schools or organizations that offer the particular program of study
needed. Find out the entrance requirements or prerequisites. Finally, call prospective
employers within the industry you are researching and ask what they look for in their
employees and if they prefer to hire students from a particular school or program.
