Pupils Activity

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill
What are the different shapes?

square, rectangle, circle,

triangle, oblong

2. Review
Match column A with column B.
Column A
_______
lllll

a.
b.
c.
d.
e.

Column B
straight lines
broken lines
curved lines
zigzag lines
slanting lines

B. Developmental Activities
1. Motivation
Children,who amo
ng you have
gone to a city like Manila?
What can you say about the
roads in Manila?

- The roads are curve.

- Other roads are straight.

- Some roads crossed and

connected.
Very good!
What are the things that you
are going to do when you crossed
on the streets?

Why should you be careful in

crossing the streets?
crossing

- I must be careful.
Follow road signs.
Walk on pedestrian lanes.
I should be careful in
the streets in order to avoid

the
accidents.
2. Presentation
a. Marian is a tourist guide. She takes
Japanese tourists to different places in
Metro Manila through EDSA.

Can you see in intersections

on the map? Can you see straight roads?
Can you see roads that meet?
-Let the pupils point on the map roads
that intersect, roads that meet.
b. Roads can represent lines. These are
lines that do not meet or cross even
if both ends are extended. There are
also lines that meet at a common point.
Look at the different lines again.
Class, these are the parallel lines.
They do not meet.

These are the perpendicular lines.

They intersect each other and
form square corners.

These are intersecting lines.

They cross each other in a
simple point.

3. Giving other examples.

What pair of avenues are parallel?

Second

- First Avenue,
Avenue

What pair of avenues intersects?

Avenue B.
What pair of avenues do not
intersect and are not parallel?

- Avenue A and
- First Avenue and
Avenue C,
- Avenue C and
Third Avenue,
- First Avenue and
Avenue A

4. Cooperative Work:
Identify the following lines.
1.
- Intersecting lines

2.
- Intersecting
lines

3.

- Parallel lines

4.
- Parallel lines

5.

6.

- Perpendicular lines

- Perpendicular lines

5. Generalization
What are the perpendicular lines?
- Perpendicular lines
intersect
each other and form square
corners, maam.
What are parallel lines?

- Parallel lines do not

meet.
What are intersecting lines?

- Intersecting lines

cross
each other in a single
point.
6. a. Group Work:
What are the things to do when
having a group work?

- Work with the group.

- Cooperate
- Share your ideas.

Group I
-Lorna is sick. Her friends are going
to visit her. But before they can reach
Lornas house, lets help them to identify
all the perpendicular,parallel,and
intersecting lines.

Group II

Look inside our classroom.

What are the things that show perpendicular
lines, parallel lines and intersecting lines.
Draw and color them?
Group III
Form a parallel lines using
green string/yarn.
Form perpendicular line using
yellow strings/yarn.
Form intersecting lines using
red string/yarn.
