a) 5pts. Draw the electric equivalent circuit.
b)15pts.Find the flux densities B1 , B2 , and B3 in the three branches of the circuit when the
coil current is 0.5A.
2. (35pts.) Results obtained from testing a 50 kVA, 2400/240V single phase transformer
are shown:

Find the following:
(a) 10pts. The equivalent copper and leakage impedances of the transformer winding in per unit.
(b) 10pts. The parallel components of the core impedances in per unit.
(c) 5pts. The equivalent circuit model referred to the low voltage side. (Draw the equivalent
circuit.)
(d) 10pts. Find the efficiency and full-load voltage regulation at 0.8 pf lagging.
3. (30pts) The figure below shows a magnetic circuit consisting of rings of magnetic material
in a stack of depth D (2cm). The magnetic material is assumed to have infinite permeability.
The effects of flux fringing and leakage flux are neglected. Rin (3cm) is the inner radius of the
rings and Rout (4cm) is the outer radius. The number of coil turns N equals 75 turns. Air gap
length, lg, is 0.5cm, and the current I is 54A.
Determine the following:
(a) 10pts. the core cross sectional area Ac and the mean core length lc.
(b) 15pts. the reluctance of the core Rc, the reluctance of the gap Rg, and the total mmf.
(c) 5pts. Bg if Fc (mmf due to core) = 71 A-turns.
