About the Q Language Ltd


We are a joint venture company providing English and Chinese language teaching services for the
local and expatriate communities in Hong Kong. Our students come from HK, Japan, Korea,
Russia, Mongolia and Europe, providing a multi-national learning environment. Our established
school is conveniently located at Central, Hong Kong Island.

Style of Instruction
Our small group classes are designed to improve listening and conversation skills based on daily
and real-life situations. There are also audio and video materials to make every lesson interesting
and enjoyable. Class size ranges from 5 to 8 students to maximize individual participation.

Teachers
Our teachers are native-speaker graduates with internationally recognized teaching qualifications
(University Of Beijing). As professional educators, they have had teaching experience in HK and
Asia. We conduct continual staff training to ensure students receive the best service. You may
choose your preference when you enroll for private lessons.

Course Details
We have varied Chinese courses from Beginner to Advanced (8 levels), designed for different
interests and skills. After the initial placement interview (free), we will advise the appropriate
classes and level for your needs and ability. Our program will include different skill-based classes:

Daytime Mandarin
These classes focus on general skills that target speaking and listening. You will follow Beijing
University texts plus additional materials including audio-visual lessons. There will be self-study
tasks for grammar, reading & writing improvement

Chinese Character/ Pinyin Study

These classes cover reading & writing skills. You will have the option to study Chinese characters
Hanzi (
) or improve your Pinyin (Romanized system for Chinese). Lessons will focus on
functional study and include guidance on accurate pronunciation and intonation.

HSK
The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) is China's national standardized test designed and developed
by the HSK Center of Beijing Language and Culture University to assess the Chinese language
proficiency of non-native speakers (including foreigners, overseas Chinese and students from
Chinese national minorities). For students entering or achieving Level 4 of our Intensive Chinese
course, you may select this option to prepare for the exam

Private Lessons
For students with specific needs including HSK Skills, Business Skills, academic entrance
preparation etc, we offer the option to study 1:1 lessons as part of your course. You may change
any 3 hours of your group classes for 1 hour of 1:1 study with a flexible schedule

Who Are The Teachers?
Our teachers are native-speaker university graduates. All have internationally recognized teaching
qualifications and are enthusiastic and patient educators with teaching experience in Asia.

Who Are The Students?


Most of our students are adults from mainly Japan, Korea, South-East Asia and Europe. However all
nationalities are welcome. We also offer language teaching services to Hong Kong primary and secondary
schools. In addition, we train multi-national corporation staff and government department staff.

What Are The Teaching Methods And Materials Used?


We believe that an interactive environment benefits students the most. Although we use international
textbooks, we also try and use more practical methods to allow students to use in real-life. The small classes
allow intimate contact with the teachers and other students to improve confidence.

How Are Student Levels Assessed?


Upon registration, we will send you a written assignment to complete. When you arrive in Hong Kong,
our teaching staff will interview you to check your level of spoken Chinese (for non-Beginners).

What Kind Of Course Should I Study? Will There Be Any Exams?


We offer Daytime, Business Skills & Exam Study. Intensive students can choose from these classes to
create a balance of hours and needs. Some private tutorials will also be offered for students taking Chinese
exams. You can also take 1:1 lessons (1 hr = 3 group hours)

How Many Hours Will I Have To Study And How Many Students In One Class?
Our courses are designed to cover 15 - 24hours of group class work per week. Of course, there will be
additional homework study or optional social trips to help practice Chinese in a real environment. There are
only a maximum of 5 - 8 students in each class.

Will I Receive Any Certificates From Your School?


Yes, we present course completion certificates to all our students attending a minimum 80% of the course.

Do You Have Staff To Help With Any Problems?


Yes, we have multi-lingual staff to help with your questions about the school or Hong Kong life.

Starting The Process . . .


Registration
Please complete and email or fax to (852) 2540 9529 the Intensive Registration Form. Upon
receipt, we will issue an invoice for the school fee. Early application is recommended since visa
applications can take 8 weeks.

Processing Hong Kong Student Visas


As part of our services, we process student visas in Hong Kong. The following is a list of
information/supporting documents required for visa application for education in Hong Kong. For an
entry visa application, the following is required by the Hong Kong SAR Immigration Department.

Please provide and send the following to us by courier mail or email:

Resume and/or Educational Qualifications including official transcripts, if available

Letter stating purpose of visit (we can issue a sample for you to edit)

Passport Copy

Letter from employer if employed verifying reason of study (if applicable)

HKSAR Immigration Dept application form, ID995(A), with relevant parts completed and
signed http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/id995a.htm

If the applicant is under the age of 18, a letter of consent applicant's parents

Proof sponsor's financial standing, e.g. bank statements, saving account passbook, tax
receipts and employment certificates (if you have your own sponsor)

Any details of applicant's previous trips to or past residence in Hong Kong (if any, please
provide dates)

Payment for the course fee in HKD or USD. Payment can be made by international bank
transfer or Paypal (www.paypal.com)

Note: In addition to the above-mentioned documents, other information/documents in support of


the application may be required by the Hong Kong SAR Immigration Department.

Starting The Process . . .


Student Accommodation
HK does not have a homestay type market. The choices for housing would be:

Serviced hotel-style apartment costing HKD8,000 - 10,000 per month


(Usually includes many facilities for cleaning/gym/breakfast/email etc.)
Rent of a studio apartment costing HKD5,800 - 8,000 per month
(1-2 months refundable deposit and 6 months - 1 year lease required)
Flatshare or basic room from HKD3,500per month

Upon your instruction, we can arrange suitable accommodation and provide a school guarantee on
your behalf after confirmation and all fees have been paid.
Our staff will collect you from the airport upon arrival and conduct an orientation session to
introduce you to HK life.

Working In HK
On a student visa, work is not permitted. You can apply for a work visa once you arrive in HK.
However, permission must be obtained from HKSAR Immigration Dept.

Please send a copy of your remittance or deposit to us by fax or notify us by email for registration
confirmation.
Upon receipt of your transfer, we will send the required documents by courier to your current
address overseas. All need to be completed and returned with your documents to the address
below in Hong Kong. Once all documents are ready and submitted, the process should take
around 8 weeks.

TYPHOON AND BLACK RAINSTORM

If Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning is in force after the following times, classes will be
cancelled:
6:15am
11:00am
4:00pm

Morning sessions cancelled


Afternoon sessions cancelled
Evening sessions cancelled

When the Hong Kong Observatory announces that Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above will be hoisted within
two hours, all classes will be immediately suspended.

Students will not be notified by Q Language if classes are cancelled due to Typhoon Signal No. 8 or
Black Rainstorm Warning. If in doubt, please call our Centre. Concerning the above and other possible
arrangements (e.g. Typhoon Signal No. 3), students are advised to pay attention to radio or television
broadcasts.

The lesson cancelled due to weather will be made up at the end of the course.
