To get started with your HPCC recertification for either the ACHPN or CHPN, login at www.goHPCC.org.
If you are a Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) member, the next screen you will see is below. In the
My HPNA section, Click on LearningBuilder. This takes you directly to your learning plan in LearningBuilder.
If you are not an HPNA member, you will be directed to the following screen: your learning plan in the
LearningBuilder site. This page provides a brief description of the requirements for your Hospice and Palliative
Accrual for Recertification (HPAR). The various sections of your HPAR learning plan will guide you through the
recertification process. The HPAR packet provides necessary details for completion of your learning plan. Download
it at the click here link.
Your learning plan provides you with a snapshot of the requirements for recertification of your ACHPN or CHPN, as
well as your progress for meeting those requirements. Clicking the Show Limits link in this section will display the
maximum allotment of points that will be awarded in various areas.
The Add Activity button will open a Record Activity box. Some categories with subcategories will open a window
requesting that you select the activity type: e.g. Academic Education, Professional Presentations, Professional
Publications.
After selecting the activity type, the Record Activity box will appear. Enter the information requested. An asterisk
denotes a required field.
Uploading a file
Some activities require documentation to be uploaded (for example, Academic Education). Some activities require
documentation only if your plan is selected for audit. You may upload documentation when you enter an activity or
wait until later. You will need an electronic copy of your documentation (.pdf, .jpeg, .jpg, .doc, .bmp, .eps, .xls, or
other electronic file format). To upload a file, click the Upload button. This opens a window allowing you to
browse and select files saved on your computer.
When you have finished entering the required information in the Record Activity box, there are two options. If
you click Save & Finish Later the activity will be added to your Learning Plan and your entry will be marked as
Finish & Submit. If you click Submit the activity will be added to your Leaning Plan and your entry will be
marked as Activity Submitted.
After you enter an activity, the number of points will be added in the category bar. The Progress area under
Requirements graphs your progress and shows areas which have a maximum requirement.
The submission process includes verifying your demographics, responding to professional practice statements, and
payment. If you are not currently a member of Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA), you will have the
option to join before you submit the payment, if you choose to receive the HPNA member discount fee for
recertification.
After you have submitted your plan, be sure to keep your documentation until you have been notified that your
recertification has been approved. If you are randomly selected for audit, you will need to upload your
documentation if you have not already done so.
You will receive an email notification of approval of your recertification. A new Learning Plan for your new
certification period will be available in 24 hours of approval.
Once approved the national office will order a new wall certificate that you will receive within 90 days of HPAR
approval.
