Program Sequence for Clear Credential Candidates

The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) offers a two-year blended learning program. Program
components include individualized, job-embedded, leadership coaching; reflection on practice; interactive online learning modules
focused; cohort coaching; and accomplishment of individual professional learning goals. This program is grounded in the California
Professional Standards for Education Leaders (CPSELs), and candidate artifacts of program completion are uploaded and monitored
through the Haiku, Learning Management System in the form of an e-Portfolio.

Year 1 Program Sequence

Candidate Selection

Candidates apply for LACOE program (July-


September and rolling admissions space
providing).
A Leadership Coach is assigned to each
candidate within 30 days.
Candidates are notified of their acceptance
into the program.


Candidate Orientation

An orientation meeting is held for


candidates and coaches (September).
During orientation, Candidates learn about:

v Program components, requirements,


and forms (Collaborative Logs, IIPs,
Coaching Log, CPSEL Summative
Assessment;
v WestEd Description of Practice, 2nd
Edition booklet; and
v Haiku Learning Management
System, including online seminars
with video content; and links to
technical support and related
resources.

The Initial Leadership Survey Self-


Assessment is administered to candidates,
with an individual report provided to each
candidate and coach.

Each candidate . . .
Submits the Coaching Agreement form.
Selects three CPSELs that best align to his/her
professional l earning goals, with consideration of
site and district context and goals.
Develops an Individualized Induction Plan (IIP),
including SMART Goals, that presents a learning
plan for the year, correlated to selected CPSELs.
Meets with his/her supervisor and coach to review
plan and obtain supervisor approval.
Receives 40 hours of individualized coaching. These
forty hours include on-site and digital coaching
services. On-site coaching includes multiple
observations of candidates in authentic leadership
roles and activities.
Participates in an additional 30 hours of
professional l earning (CPSEL seminars may count
for 10 of these hours).
Attends required Cohort Coaching sessions.
Completes three online CPSEL professional learning
modules related to the IIP, including the summative
assessment correlated to each CPSEL module.
Submits a Collaborative Log for each coaching
session. The Collaborative Log provides information
about the purpose, accomplishments, reflections,
and next steps related to each coaching session.
Completes a mid-year check-in/survey.

Each candidate . . .
Focuses on the remaining three CPSELs.
Develops an Individualized Induction Plan
(IIP), including SMART Goals, that
presents a learning plan for the year,
correlated to selected CPSELs.
Meets with his/her supervisor and coach
to review the plan, and obtain supervisor
approval.
Receives forty hours of individualized
coaching. These forty hours include on-site
and digital coaching services. On-site
coaching includes multiple observations of
candidates in authentic leadership roles
and activities.
Participates in an additional thirty hours of
professional l earning (CPSEL seminars
may count for ten of these hours).
Attends required Cohort Coaching
sessions.
Completes the three online CPSEL
professional l earning modules related to
the IIP, including the summative
assessment correlated to each CPSEL
module.
Submits a Collaborative Log for each
coaching session. The Collaborative Log
provides information about the purpose,
accomplishments, reflections, and next
steps related to each coaching session.
Attends the Culmination Meeting and
completes the Exit Survey and Leadership
Coach E ffectiveness Survey.

NOTE: The LACOE Program requires that candidates, supported by


coaches, determine the sequence of study for CPSELs during the
two-year p rogram in order to assure t hat their study plan is aligned
to candidate, employer, supervisor, and site/district goals.
