I served as a part of a team responsible for collecting, coding and
processing the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey for a wide range of institutions. The team worked long hours to tight deadlines and managed the annually variable workload. During this time, I developed an in-depth understanding of the graduate job market in the UK and a general understanding of the global graduate job market across a broad range of sectors. I was responsible for implementing, managing and processing the online version of the research form. I led a small and dynamic careers service to deliver careers support, employability development, internships, employer engagement and volunteering opportunities at an internationally-focused research-intensive institution. I supported the developement of Internships and Mentoring at SOAS including facilitating the expansion of embedded placements in creditbearing degree modules. I partnered with our Alumni team to greatly expand and improve our Take an Alum for Coffee mentoring scheme, leading to us wining a Bronze CASE award. I am maintaining professionally-relevant labour market intelligence through extensive visits and on-going contact with employers and graduate recruiters in key sectors and developed strengths in learning the needs of new sectors effectively.

Anthony is passionate about developing students skills and has extensive
experience of working supporting student volunteers and their projects and events. He graduated in 2008 with a BA in Geography from Durham University, where he held a variety of volunteer roles and spent a sabbatical year as an elected student officer. After leaving Durham, Anthony worked at the London School of Economics Students Union, before going on to manage one of the UKs largest student activities programmes for the Students Union at Imperial College London. Sophie has always been passionate about foreign languages and civilisations and completed a Masters in International Business and Foreign Languages. She started her career in Paris working in finance for a major airline company and moved to London in 2000 where she worked for a large consulting firm. Her last position before joining Goldsmiths was as Export Manager for a small industry. She has also run her own business. Sophie's broad experience in diverse sectors should prove helpful to Goldsmiths students. Colin Baumgart-Osborn Colin has worked as a support worker for teenagers with learning disabilities. He has also volunteered as a music group facilitator in East Dulwich, worked in a shop and been a charity fundraiser. He maintains an interest in local community and voluntary initiatives and hopes that this previous experience will be useful in handling student, employer and academic queries. Colin has a BA in English and Comparative Literature from Goldsmiths.
Cal Brindley, Careers Information Assistant
Before starting at Goldsmiths Cal had a number of roles from working in the music industry through to the legal sector. She is a University of London graduate with a BA in English. Cal has worked at Goldsmiths for several years and enjoys the unique atmosphere here and the unusual information requests from Goldsmiths students. Cal currently works parttime and is involved in developing the Careers Facebook page and updating the Careers Service website.
Employer Liaison Team
Alison McGregor, Work Placement Manager Alison's experience includes managing University Talent, which linked local SMEs with students and graduates from seven universities, and involved delivering three funded internship programmes; and creating and delivering an innovatory work placement module. These experiences provided her with plenty of evidence of the benefits that placements and internships can offer to all parties. She then facilitated a range of the larger-scale Knowledge Transfer Partnerships. She has been a management board member of a charity which lobbied for flexible working arrangements and trialled the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator in Russia. She has a BA in English Language and Literature from Durham University. Her MA dissertation was on succession planning. Mark Chadwick, Events and Placements Assistant Working across placements, internships and employer events, Mark spends his time helping to find and facilitate great opportunities for students and organisations to engage with each other. Before arriving at Goldsmiths, Mark worked in graduate recruitment and events management for an education charity. He hopes that this experience, combined with his insights as a recent graduate, will be of value to students and employers alike. Mark holds a BA in History from the University of Southampton, where he also worked in a variety of roles. Fergus Gleeson, Employer Engagement Manager Having previously worked on a pan-Wales employability programme, Fergus joins Goldsmiths with a wealth of experience in developing relationships with external organisations and businesses for the benefit of students and graduates. He has extensive knowledge of recruitment and training within the SME sector and has also worked in a busy HR department for a local authority. Fergus is responsible for planning and coordinating the annual careers events programme and fostering
relationships with businesses looking to recruit Goldsmiths students. He
graduated in 2007 with a BA in French and History from Durham University.
