Selection of ITCSN Cable Sleeves is easy

and straight forward. The largest size sleeves
that will provide a tight fit when fully
recovered will produce the maximum wallthickness. Final wall thickness is proportional
to the degree of sleeve recovery.

mically cross linked, thermally stabilized

polyolefin, capable of operation at cable
emergency overload temperatures of 130
degrees C. The cable sleeve must have UL
approval (UL 486D, 600V) and be approved
for the use. Supplied sleeve lengths of 4 feet
and less shall be adhesive lined.
Minimum recovered wall thickness on sizes
1.5 and larger shall be 170 mils. The
minimum shrink temperature shall be 250
degrees F.
Engineering/Architectural
The sleeving must be usable both indoors
and outdoors, in overhead, direct buried, or
submerged applications on cables rated up to
1000 volts. It must not be adversely affected
by moisture, mild acids and alkalies, fuels,
oils, ozone, or ultraviolet light. It must be
compatible with and adhere to all types of
cable jackets, including rubber, plastic or
lead. The cable sleeve must conform to the
requirements of ANSI C119.1, 1974 for
sealed, insulated, underground connector
systems rated at 600 volts, and the western
Underground Committee Guide 2.5 for
submersible, low voltage connector systems.
They must also meet REA requirements for
secondary tap or submersible splice cover
applications.

Longitudinal Shrinkage
Three 9-inch samples of ITCSN 1500 were
freely recovered in a convection air oven at 175
degrees C for 2 minutes. The longitudinal
shrinkage is computed as follows:
L1 = Original length
L2 = Length after unrestricted Recovery
% change = L2 L1 x 100%
L1
The average longitudinal shrinkage is 3%

Heat until sleeve is completely
shrunk and adhesive / sealant (if
applicable) is squeezed from ends.

Concentricity
Three samples of ITCSN 1500 were measured
for their minimum and maximum wall thickness
in the expanded state. The concentricity is
computed by dividing the maximum wall into
the minimum wall. The concentricity is 84%
