Local Nonprofit Hosts Plant It Forward Holiday Market on #GivingTuesday

Plant With Purpose encourages gifts that give back this Christmas.

SAN DIEGONovember 22, 2016#GivingTuesday is a day to give back following the shopping frenzy of
Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. San Diego-based Plant With Purpose is
offering a holiday gift market on Giving Tuesday with unique gifts that give back from YOUME Clothing,
Lumily, Amor Ministries, Nibble Chocolate, and Plant With Purpose. These gifts will truly help Plant It
Forward as the proceeds will empower people around the world.
Plant With Purpose reverses deforestation and poverty around the world by transforming the lives of
the rural poor. 85 percent of people in extreme poverty are rural farming families. Deforestation leaves
these families even more vulnerable. The organization is combatting two of the worlds most critical
issues: extreme poverty and deforestation with programs led by local teams in Burundi, the Dominican
Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Mexico, Tanzania, and Thailand.
Plant With Purpose is equipping more than 32,600 farming families in rural communities throughout the
world to lift themselves out of poverty. Program participants see their level of poverty cut in half. Items
such as seeds, trees, chickens, goats, and pigs are tools that transform futures. Veerapan Bansupas, a
farmer and father in Huai Pong, Thailand, life looks different because of Plant With Purpose. He shares,
From the backyard garden, my family has good food to eat and we can save some money on food. I can
sell some of my produce and we can save some money for the education of our son.
These alternative gifts will be available at the Plant It Forward Holiday Market. The Plant It Forward
Holiday Market is taking place on November 29 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. This family-friendly event will also
include a Christmas craft corner, the AmigoBooth to capture your family Christmas picture,
refreshments, and plenty of holiday cheer. Opportunities to get to know Plant With Purpose and our
holistic solution to rural poverty will be presented throughout the evening.
