Whystudythiscourse?
TheDoctorofPhilosophyproducesgraduatescapableofsuccessfullycompletingresearchwhichresultsina
significantandoriginalcontributiontoknowledge.
StudentscanconductresearchinareassuchasAustralianhistory,Australianliterature,communicationandculture,
drama,finearts,justicestudiesandpolicestudies,professionalandappliedethics,psychology,sociology,rural
socialstudies,socialwork,socialwelfareandsocialpolicyandtheology.
Theprogramconsistsentirelyofcompletinganindividualresearchprogramundersupervision.Studentsare
requiredtodeveloparesearchproposal,carryouttheresearchandwriteathesis.Studentsarealsorequiredto
makepresentationsoftheirworkatoncampuscolloquia.Offshorestudentsarerequiredtovisittheappropriate
campusatleasttwiceduringtheircandidatureinordertomeetwiththeirsupervisor(s)andtopresenttheir
research.
