COURSE OBJECTIVE
1. To provide hands on experience with power electronic converter design and
testing.
2. To study the characteristics of switching devices and its applications in rectifier
inverter, chopper and resonant converter.
3. Develop in students the practical skills relevant to understand, analyze and
operate power electronics and drives systems.
4. To enable the students to simulate and test the ac-dc converter, dc-dc converter
and ac voltage controller.
5. To enable the student to study and simulate various Chopper Circuits using Mat
lab.
LEARNING OUTCOME
Upon the completion of this lab, students should be able to

Understand the principles of phase-controlled converters and assess their


operating performance parameters.

Analyze the characteristics of MOSFET, IGBT, SCR and TRIAC circuits.

Design and analyze closed loop regulators for DC and AC converter applications.

Recognize the principles of operation, simulation and design procedures of

PRE-REQUISITE
1. Knowledge about the working principle of power electronic devices.
2. Knowledge about power electronic simulation mat lab tools.
