medium capacities, providing a lower cost, compact solution to the steam pressure control of
autoclaves, steam irons, laundry mangles and sterilizers.

EXAMPLE: A steam cooker with a 45 psig design pressure requires a PRV to lower the inlet pressure from 125 psig to 30 psig, while
consuming 600 lbs/hr of steam.
Choose the correct PRV size, so that the shut-off pressure does not exceed 40 psig, while being able to provide the
capacity and regulated pressure required.

Many companies around the world are limiting their productivity with low capacity PRVs, that considerably reduce the
steam flow into their equipment.
Batch cooking processes are typical examples of this situation.

The new valve, a TECVAL Series 810,

with a 10-30 spring range, provided
a C V =2.55 with a 10 psi droop.

Calculate the required CV as shown on the table above. Make sure you identify whether your application is Subcritical or Critical Flow.
In the present example, P2 P =0.32 which is less than 0.58 therefore we use the critical flow equation, as follows:

Scenario 1

TSH = Steam superheat (F)

W = Steam flow (lbs/hr)

Many companies around the world are limiting their productivity with low capacity PRVs, that considerably reduce the
steam flow into their equipment.
Batch cooking processes are typical examples of this situation.

Example: A company that manufactures cooked rice, required a total of 300 lbs of 30 psi
saturated steam to cook each batch of rice
