Abstract:
The main goal of this experiment is to determine the pH values of different samples of water. It has been
performed for (Tap Water, Distilled Water, Drinking Water & waste Water). Generally, it has been observed the
obtained data by using the pH meter indicating that there were some factors that affect the increasing or
decreasing of the pH value for example, tap water has a pH value higher than the industrial drinking water

beacons of the salts and minerals dissolved in tap water which has the ability to release the Hydrogen ions and
increase its concentration.

Discussion of Results:

According to the results showed in figure (1); the pH values are within the limits of the drinking water
standards between (6.5-8.5), except the last sample which is waste water (Undrinkable). Also, it has been
observed that the tap water sample tends to be alkaline which indicate it has dissolved metallic minerals the
main responsible for increasing the pH of the tap water. The distilled water pH is ought to be about 7,
however, it is little bit less for maybe the sample was containing an impurities or it could be an instrumental
error. Also, it has been tested a drinking water sample and the pH value was different as it is specified by the

manufacturing company. This could be the pH test was performed at a different temperature degrees or as it
has been missioned due to the instrumental error. Finally, the waste water pH value was (7.43) it depends on
the impurities and the minerals dissolved in this sample.

Conclusion:

pH value refers to the measure of the Hydrogen ion concentration. The measure rang is between (0 14) and
the neutral value is 7. The values below 7 refers to the Acidic compounds as well as the values above 7
indicates the alkaline compounds. Moreover, pH measurement is an important aspect in the chemical and the
environmental studies science it influences the chemical reactional properties as well as the it effects the
organisms within the environment.
