Pakistan Tibbi Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Council (PTPMC) represents
the countrys leading quality Tibbi pharmaceutical companies, which are devoted to inventing medicines that allow patients to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives. PTPMC associated companies are leading the way in the search for new cures and preventions. The association is actively working for the promotion of Tibbi Pharmaceutical industry in the Country, harmonizing it with the modern requirements and standardizing the formulation of Unani Medicines on scientific basis. Aims & Objectives: Promote, develop, support, motivate, safeguard and encourage Pakistans Tibbi Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. The Association will endeavor to keep members informed on industry development at national and international level providing also updates on Association activity for and on behalf of members. To advance the role that Unani/Herbal health care products play in the health of the individual and society at large. In particular produced by PTPMC member organizations Encourages member companies on empirical and scientific research into the quality, safety and effectiveness of herbal health products Encourages the application of such research in the production and marketing of the products of members organizations Promotes, protect and advances the commercial objectives of members Represents member companies at national and international level in their relationships with Governments and Statutory Agencies for the interests of the industry and to opt for legal, moral and technical measures necessary to promote, support Tibbi Pharmaceutical industry.
Works co-operatively with similar organizations in rest of the world
with a view to supplement common interests like conducting exhibitions of Pakistan herbal health care products manufactured by the member organizations Have a check on member organizations to promote sustainable patterns of quality manufacturing following GMP for the herbal manufacturing industry Serve as a bridge to improve communication between member companies for achieving goals of common interest. To coordinate with national and international level journals, magazines and other quality publications related to Health care industry for the promotion of Tibbi Pharmaceutical industry as a whole. Ensure a regular coordination and cooperation with other system of medicines prevailing in Pakistan for the best interest of the Health Care industry as a whole and specifically for Tibbi Pharmaceutical manufacturers. Take measures for enhancing the export of medicines manufactured by the member organizations contributing in National Economy. The PTPMC recognizes the difficulties imposed on members by the lack of legislation for the herbal health care products manufacturers. The Association is therefore actively involved in liaison with the Ministry and Department of Health for an earliest favorable legislation to be formulated and deployed within the best interest of the Tibbi Pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. In the meantime both the Association and its members are committed to improve as far as possible within the existing statutory framework. Where direct conflicts arise between the legitimate aspirations of members and inappropriate restrictions imposed by existing regulations, members are required to identify the problem to the Association and the Association will then formally raise the matter with the relevant regulatory authority with a view to agreeing a way forward that is acceptable to all parties.
The above considerations aside, members who conduct their business in
breach of statutory regulation are also in breach of the requirements of membership of the PTPMC. Accomplishment: Through its members PTPMC is rendering following services/accomplishments since its inception: 1. Played a vital role is providing effective, safe, free from side effects and relatively economical natural medicines for curing diseases. 2. Provided guidelines to the member organizations for bringing their medicines to International standards in terms of setting up our own GMP rules and regulations and facilitating its deployment 3. Almost over 90% of the raw materials used for manufacturing of Tibbi medicines are sourced within Pakistan. In this way we are surely contributing an overall national objective to be self sufficient saving lots of foreign exchange. 4. Our member companies are fulfilling the requirements of over 50,000 registered Hikmat and Ayurvedic medical practitioners dispersed across four provinces of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. These practitioners with either their private clinics or Govt run dispensaries are providing medical facilities to almost 70% of rural and urban population of the country. 5. Many of our member organizations are actively exporting quality herbal health care products earning lots of foreign exchange making a vital contribution in overall national economy. 6. Because of putting collective efforts utilizing a common platform i-e PTPMC, statistics reveal that an overall increase in usage of herbal based products over other system of medicines is observed specially allopathic system of treatment is marked. 7. The products worth billions of Rupees of the member companies of PTPMC are sold every year to add hundreds of thousands of rupees as tax to the Government treasury.

companies PTPMC has served as an active player in formulating the initial proposed draft for the herbal and homoeopathic act 2005. Also playing a vital role in bringing the subsequent amendments in the act in for the best interest of the member companies.
