To get everyone to the carpet for the opening discussion,

The students will be shown familiar objects and asked if

Modeling of the Concept
First, I will explain to the students that everything is
made of matter.
I will then explain that you cannot see matter, it is in
everything. Just like in the book it says that matter is
anything that takes up space and has a weight.
