ABSTRACT

This study aimed to determine the students exposure to the English

language and their grammatical competence and to cite if there is a significant
relationship between the two (2) variables. The study used the Descriptive
Correlation Research Design as it sought to determine the level of students
exposure to the English language and their grammatical competence. The
respondents of the study were the Grade 10 high school students of Digos
City National High School who were officially enrolled 2016-2017.
Results revealed that the level of exposure of the Grade 10 high school
students had a low rating. Furthermore, the level of grammatical competence
of the respondents had an average rating. Moreover, there is a significant
relationship between the level of students exposure to the English and their
grammatical competence.
Based on the findings of the study, the researchers recommended that
schools should implement programs to encourage students to expose
themselves in the English Language. Similarly, parents should also try to use
the language when they are at home to provide an environment for the
students to use the language effectively.
