QUESTION 2:
2.1
Operation
The value of R and C for the phase shift network is selected such that each
RC combination produces a phase shift of 60, thus the total phase shift by
the three networks is 180.
The other 180 to give a total of 360 is provided by either:
2.2
When the capacitor voltage exceeds 2/3 Vcc the output goes low and the
transistor discharges the capacitor rapidly. When the capacitor is
discharged the system is in a stable state assuming that the trigger line
voltage is greater than 1/3 Vcc. When the trigger line is pulled below that
voltage the output goes high and the transistor switches off. As the
capacitor charges the trigger line is brought back to high. The capacitor
charges until it reaches 2/3 VCC at which time the output goes low and the
capacitor discharges rapidly. It stays in that state until the next trigger
pulse.
OR
When a negative trigger is applied on pin 2,output goes high and
capacitor starts charging through resistor (100k) .when the capacitor
voltage becomes 2/3 Vcc,output goes low and capacitor starts discharging

At the start, light B is energised and Light A is not. When the start button
is activated, the timer starts its preset time of 10 seconds. TON 1coil is still
de-energised. after a 10 sec delay ,TON 1 is energised .The N/O
contacts of TON 1 closes and Light A is energised and will switch on but
the N/C contacts will open and de-energise Light B and Light B will go off
(5)

4.3
When the start button is pressed the control relay coil energises which in
turn closes CR1 switch contacts. Since CR1 switch contacts fail to close,
the control relay will remain de-energised the moment the start button is
released.
