December 2016

Dear Friend,
Greetings to you on this beautiful December day from everyone at the
church. I am so grateful for all the Lord has done for us this year. He has directed
our path in the way of peace and granted us life and favor! Through Christ Jesus
our Lord we are enabled to serve Him who loves us.
One of my most favorite passages of Scripture is found in Matthew 1:20 &
21, "Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for
that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth
a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from
their sins." The angel told Joseph what he needed to do. But the angel also told
Joseph what the Lord would do. Humanity had lived under the curse of sin and
terror of death for many centuries. We were separated from God because of our
own sins and God had offered solutions to this separation many times and in
many different ways over the years. But man could not span the gulf between us
and God for it was something only God Himself could do. He so loved us that He
came to earth as a man to take the penalty for our transgressions and sins! "...for
He shall save His people from their sins." To rescue us from sin is a job only the
Lord could do. We could not then, nor can we now, save ourselves from sin.
"...for He shall save His people from their sins."
Salvation is a wonderful gift of God to humanity. It transforms our whole
being and enables us to have confidence with God. The gift of salvation gives us
assurance of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. I noticed something as I
read these passages. Verse 21 says, "He shall save." It is a work only the Lord
can do in you. Our attempts to make our lives pleasing to God fall short because
of our disobedience in the first place. God never sinned against us: we sinned
against Him. So salvation comes from Him alone. It is given to us on His terms,
not ours. It is a gift to us!
Then it says, "He shall save His people." We must belong to Him alone.
He made it possible for us to be adopted into His great family! When you open
your heart to him and ask Him to forgive you of all your sins and make you His
own, He will come to you with this gift of grace. He becomes yours and you
become His. You are now partners with Him who gave His whole life for you.
The Scriptures teach us there was a time we were not His people, but now that

Christ Jesus has come into our lives and removed the curse of sin from us, we
"...are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have
obtained mercy" (I Peter 2:10). The love and mercy of God joined us together as
one! We are now His people.
The rest of the verse says, "He shall save His people from their sins." He
won't save you in your sins, but will remove you from those sins and the things
that so easily defeat you and enslaves you. Many are bound to different vises,
such as drugs and alcohol. Does Jesus care? Oh yes He does! He has the power to
save you from those sins. Anything that changes your personality or causes you to
endanger other people's lives needs to be removed from your life. This is where
His amazing grace comes in. This is what makes Christmas such a wonderful time
of year. We celebrate the birth of a Savior who sets us free from sins and enables
us to please God. Jesus gives us access into the very presence of God. A priest
may have His duties to perform, but now all believers can enter the holiest place
of all through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ! One moment in His presence fills the
longings of the human heart in ways nothing else can even come close to! Ask the
Lord Jesus to take your sins away and come into your heart this Christmas. If you
do, you will never be the same! The greatest gift ever given awaits your reply.
Ask Him to give you this wondrous gift and He will freely give you His salvation.
Don't worry: He loves you with an everlasting love and said in His Word He
offers "whosoever will" the gift of eternal life. We need to be saved for eternity,
and Jesus made this possible!
May God bless you and from all of us at the church we wish you a very
Merry Christmas! Please remember that we are praying for you!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
