131,000-square-foot Building 2791
renovation, which involved hazardous
materials abatement and numerous
regulatory code requirements, Atkins
helped to achieve a move-in date
one month ahead of schedule for this
project at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Atkins completed all design documents for the award-winning renovation of Building 2791 at Fort Sam Houston in just six weeks.

Institute of Architects, and the National CAD Standard, BIM embodies
the future of design. This dynamic modeling technology is the result of
owner demand for better and more cost-effective buildings.
Atkins understands BIM, and we are incorporating its processes
into our designs. Results have been extraordinary, with enhanced
coordination, improved cost and quality control, and streamlined
communications. Teams located in different offices can collaborate on
the same set of 3-D drawings, which promotes information reuse and
exchange in a real-time environment. This repository is then passed
on to the client to maintain and use throughout the full life cycle of
the facility.

Atkins interior design group is a national practice that provides complete services for
a diverse group of building types. Building types include barracks, chapels, training
facilities, company and battalion headquarters, medical educational training facilities,
soldier and family assistance centers, child development centers, fitness areas, dining
facilities, land ports of entry facilities, and maintenance facilities.
Comprehensive interior design includes building finishes known as structural interior
design and furniture, fixtures, and equipment design. Our services include the
development of installation design guides, programming, space planning, selection of
finishes and furnishings, and preparation of procurement documentation following
federal government standards.
The interior design group has supported many LEED design projects including the
nationally recognized Tyndall Air Force Base Fitness Center. Our interior designers strive
