ANALYSIS OF THE MOTIVATION

The term motivation originated from a Latin Word Motum


which means motion. Motivation is the process of arousing or
imitating involvement in the organism. Motivation is something
which prompts, compels and energies an individual to act in a
particular manner at a particular time for attaining some specific
goal. It is a process of

arousing. Directing, maintaining and

controlling ones interest in a particular activity.


The problem of motivation is central both to educational
psychology and to the classroom activity. In fact, no real learning
can take place without motivation. Motivation brings the learner in
the

proper

farmer

of

mind

for

learning.

It

concentrates

the

attention and energy of a person on the activity or knowledge to


the learnt.
According to MC Donald Motivation is an energy change
within

the

anticipatory
change

that

organism

characterized

by

affective

arousal

and

goal relations. In short, motivation is an energy


arouses,

directs

and

maintains

behavior

of

an

organism to act for achieving a specific goal.


Motive is something that incites an organism to action,
sustains it and gives direction. Motives are the springs of action. It
is an inner state of mind of an aroused feeling generated through
basic needs or drives which compel an individual to respond by
creating a kind of tension or urge to act. According to fisher, a

motive is an inclination on impulsion to action plus some degree of


orientation or direction.

IMPORTANCE OF MOTIVATION

Motivation occupies a cardinal position in the teachinglearning process. It energies the learner to take part in the
learning activity. It arouses and sustains ones interest in learning.
Motivation has the following important functions in learning.

1. It energies the learner and thus it initiates learning activity.


2. Motives activate, direct and regulate the behaviour of the learner.
3. It controls the learning behaviour of the individual.
4. It sustains activity when a goal is not immediately available.
5.

Motivation selects behaviour, that is under motivated condition


the learner does not move in haphazard way.

6. Motivation provides energy and accelerates the behaviour of


the learner.
7.

Motivation releases the tension and helps in satisfying the


needs of the learner.

ANALYSIS OF DISCUSSION

The analysis of the answer of the respondence shows


the following picture. It is noticed in the analysis (Table 1)
that

the

respondence

are

more

aware

of

the

others

motivational status and the way to deal with it than their own
motivation

well

being

and

management.

Therefore

it

is

important interventions through training programmes are to


be put in place to train adolescence it become more aware of
the inner states of their mind. This will enable them to know
about and manage their motivation.
